and to get back down you can use a nether portal if you happen to have 10-14 pieces of obsidian i recommend using the portal cause then you have a portal strait to the top

Another way to get out from the roof is if you have at least 8 obsindian you can build a nether portal to get out of the nether

It works in Java edition. I tried this before I even saw the video the zip line.
Point of fact: The top of the nether is NOT a place where you can build anything. Game mechanics will not allow it. Instead, build your house with iron door(s) and the walls made of cobblestone. It's a cheap and effective way to make a base in the nether that won't get blown up.
