    You are my foundation queen!! Thank you for such thoughtful, thorough reviews of foundation and concealer for women over 40! It’s a different ballgame when you are 40+ and looking for a match. You’re the best, Steph! Also, couldn’t agree more with you about reformulations…who is asking for it?! Ugh! Wish companies would knock it off with that.

    I loved the original Lancome teint idole, used it for 20 yrs, and am heartbroken they reformulated it😢 I broke down and tried the new one and it’s awful, I had the same issues with it that Stephanie had. So on the hunt for a dupe of the original. I can’t understand why all these cosmetic lines reformulate their best sellers?? They’ve all jumped on the bandwagon with their skin loving ingredients nonsense! Which basically means they use that as an excuse to increase the price! I have skincare products for that and don’t need it in my foundation, also the sunscreen they use in foundation is a joke and wish they’d just leave that out so we can use our preferred one that’s going to be more effective anyway.
    If anyone can suggest a good dupe for Lancome original Teint Idole I’d love to hear!

    Dior has broken my heart with all the discontinuations & reformulations. They were my holy grail brand for all things complexion & now I’m back at square one. So infuriating that they would take away and/or change iconic products that worked for SO MANY people. Now I’m back to Estée Lauder Double Wear, Make Up For Ever HD Skin & MAC Pro Long Wear. All of which I like but Dior AirFlash & Face & Body gave me the coverage I wanted without feeling too heavy. They even reformulated the Forever Matte & I’m not a huge fan of it now. Don’t even get me started on the reformulation of Forever Skin Correct.😩😭😂 Apparently I needed to rant too lmao! Thank you for these amazing, honest reviews.❤

    There are extremely strict standards (that have been updated in the last few years) that determine how many ingredients can change in a cosmetic/beauty/hair product before it must be deemed a “new” product versus a reformulation. I work in the beauty industry and it’s not as lenient as you think. It is more common that the manufacturing mechanisms are changed, making the same ingredients interact with each other differently.

    You are spot on with your reformulation comment. I particularly think DIOR blew it with their reformulations. The cult classics and faves are a big fail. They are just not as good as the originals. I bought Forever Skin Glow Hydrating Foundation SPF 15 earlier this year and it is anything but skin glowing. It cakes up on my face and doesn't wear well. My drugstore foundations perform better. I expected more from DIOR. I love your channel! I learn so much from you.

    I think I am the only person who prefers the new Dior F&B? It works for my sensitive skin much better than the overly fragranced original. The alcohol in the prior version also caused that version to break up on my skin mid day. So might be worth a try for people with sensitive skin? Just dropping in comments for other sensitive/ rosacea skin types:) the new version has the alcohol slightly lower in the ingredient list.

    • @berlineczka
      @berlineczka Год назад +2

      On the other hand, the new formula has "botanical" fragrance, which almost certainly means essential oils. In the long run, they may be way more sensitizing to the skin than alkohol and artificial fragrances combined.
      That being said, they should have kept the original formula for the oilier among us and introduce the new one as a hydrating version.
      It was my holy grail, and my sole one after Too Faced discontinued the Peach Perfect and replaced it with the mediocre Born This Way Matte last year. I even made an exception for it from the cruelty free status - it is so hard for me to find a foundation (I am extremely oily, have a pale olive undertone and my skin hates the heavy pasty foundations like EL DW) that I decided it was better for the environment to buy 1-2 bottles of that a year instead of keep buying new products and failing to like them.

    New and "Unimproved." I hate it when they change the formulation. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't have been using it. They usually loose a customer, me, when that happens.

    I got a sample tube of foundation from a brand called Yensa in an IPSY bag, that I’m loving. It’s called Yensa Super Serum Silk Foundation. The shade light neutral is perfect for me. I think it’s better for dryer skins like mine (and I’m 53). It touts some skincare benefits that I’m not sure that it’s doing, like brightening and firming, and it says it’s full coverage. I like that I get coverage without it feeling or looking heavy. I think I’m gonna buy the full size when I run out of the sample (0.34 oz), but it seems to only be available on QVC.

I love it but find if I mix it with one pump of my NYX Can’t stop won’t stop foundation AND apply it with YOUR , stephaniemarie, double wear technique…. I am much happier with the results. I also do initial application with my fingers and follow with the damp sponge. Beautiful! ❤

I'm a very oily gal in a humid state and it works perfectly for me. The original formula was a bit too dry for me but still beautiful. I LOVED your rant. MIC DROP Steph. Agree with you 100!! I've never tried Dior Backstage before the reformulation, so I do not know about the original but I bought the new one recently, and it is one of the worst foundations i used, it does not blur anything , and when i add more it becomes cakey, it was a big let down especially that i tried to wear it after wearing chanel no.1 foundation which was the best foundation i have ever tried.

    • @StephanieMarie
      @StephanieMarie  Год назад +1

      I didn't have that problem! The sunscreens I used the most when testing these were Summer Fridays and Elta MD. I always massage them in like a lotion and let them sink in for a good 15 minutes before applying any makeup. As I said in my intro section, I always test all foundations with no primer and with various primers. I didn't have pilling problems either way. What did you use to apply it? I usually prefer to apply my foundations with a damp or dry sponge because the pouncing motion eliminates most issues like kicking up dry flakes or other things that can otherwise occur. I hope it can work for you!

    "Some kind of magic." Hahahaha! You are too funny! Thanks for all your hard work Stephanie, trying foundations that you don't even like. That's dedication, and it is appreciated. I have a reformulation story for you. Dr. Brandt's Hyaluronic Face Cream has been my only choice for years. It was great at plumping my skin that had changed so much due to menopause. Suddenly my skin was dry, my laugh lines deeper and the good old marionette lines were suddenly more pronounced. This cream plumped up everything so well it was my ride or die face cream. I went to re-order and couldn't find it on the web site this week! I found the 2.0 version and ordered that, and I do not like it. It went from a whipped gel to a thick, dry feeling cream, and it didn't do anything for my skin. I sent an e mail questioning this change and got on the computer, I managed to find the original at Skinessentials and snapped it up. I totally agree with you!

    I NEVER liked the Lancome Teint Idole. It just sits in my drawer, I keep trying it, and keep hating it. (and this IS the original version) but I was influenced to buy it, because everybody loved it so much, and it ALWAYS broke up on me, always added texture, just all around a terrible foundation. Im tempted to try the one with the white lid because it sounds like Id love it, but dont want to get stuck with another full bottle of foundation that I wont use. 😅

    I'm so bummed !🤦‍♀️ I was super excited about the Dior Face & Body review (I knew it was coming soon) and I thought for sure you would test an area on the body about the coverage (pick a bruise- us 40+ all are getting that "thin skin" so we bruise easier) you missed the boat on that 🤷‍♀️ I'm 💯 positive everyone else was hoping for this too🤷‍♀️
    NOT a fan of sitting in the Sephora chair and having them poke and prod my arms or legs in front of everyone to test out shades 😫
    I know Dermablend is epic (but with their limited color match, good luck finding a matching shade !🙄)
    I seriously think a body makeup video would be amazing ! Since you're in Nola and I'm in Tucson (both hot AF 🔥) there is no way we're wearing stockings 🥵 to cover up our "old lady spots" 😂
    I will 💯 guarantee THAT would be one of your most viewed videos !🙏🤞😊

      Hi Kami, You're actually the only person that's mentioned anything about the body. Since the main point of testing these foundations is for the face. And if it doesn't work on my face, there's really no point, in proceeding with the body, right? 🤷🏼‍♀️ If I'm buying something for my body, it needs to come in a bigger bottle than that and not cost as much. Sally Hansen anyone? I shared that in an Amazon video and it's really good.

    I absolutely agree with you, that brands tend to mislead consumers selling completely different new products under well-known names. The same happens to perfumes as well, unfortunately.
    I also agree, that with the new 'clean beauty' trend we get make-up products that are neither make-up, nor skin care...

Then I saw your video that the formula had changed. Why do they have to ruin a good thing? That was the same when I was using Estée Lauder double wear light that was my go to. You turned me on to Dior Backstage. I loved it. New formula, not so much. I work 8-5 and it’s and it’s very hot and humid here in FL. I have tried sooo may and spent so much money. I’ve even tried other higher end foundations and go back to the original Lancôme. I like Nars but it seems to need a setting powder and I won’t use finishing powders/sprays. I also don’t like wearing a primer. I use vita liberata body body blur to add color to my foundations during the summer when my skin is darker or I want a bronzer. I’m a month shy of being 50.
