In the beginning of november 2010 I witnessed a violent awakening of Anak Krakatau , with a continuous vulcanian/strombolian activity almost every 2 to 10 minutes, almost non stop for about 24 hours. We couldnt even go to the island because the forest was constantly striked by heavy bombs.... From rakata I witnessed hundreds of these explosions going more than 1km high from the summit , also producing a lot of volcanic lightnings. Last but not least a heavy rainfall by night with loud thunder woke us up , allowing us to watch powerful lightnings from the sky strike the summit , giving us enough light to watch simultaneously the ash column as well as the glowing lava.... An unforgett frightening feeling of hell on earth.....
