Great video. New subscriber right here. After I heard “slab donkey” I paused the video and subscribed I kid you not 😂😂. I say the same when I hook a slab. How do you find these fall crappies though? I’ve never fished for them in the fall
Glad to have ya! Thanks for sharing in my adventures!
🤣🤣🤣 Bro! If you ain’t huntin’ Slab Donkeys, you’re doing it all wrong! Sounds like you know exactly what I’m saying!
I target a lot of the same areas I target in spring. Areas that hold early bait fish will hold late bait fish. Rocks, docks, drop offs, bridges, laydowns. Shallow water warms faster in the fall. Just like it does in the spring. Just gotta find the bait. Once you do that, it’s donkey city!
Keep after ‘em!
Ahhhhh ok thanks for the information. Crappie fishing (in my opinion) is the best, most fun fishing there is. Plus, they make for amazing fish taco’s and fish nuggets. I’ll now try to hunt them down with your info. Thank you. I’ll continue the support for sure.
New Subscriber 90% of the time I'm bank fishing. Keeping a arsenal of jigs is tha key
Bank or kayak. Long as you’re out there!
My man. I love your content 👍🏼🙌🏼 new sub here
Thanks man! Happy to have ya!
I really like bank fishing videos, and panfish is my favorite to catch cook. no boat / kayak. FISH ON !
Another great video. Very informative and it made my day seeing you help out a fellow angler.
Thanks David
Nice slabs
Thank you, sir!
You guys that catch crappie from the shore have my respect. I have all the electronics and a boat with every anchor known to man and have tough days.
Oh trust me, there’s just as many tough days from the bank.
Beautiful cinematography as always jake! Great looking fish and great shots! Keep up the good work
Thanks, fellas! Looking forward to another collaboration soon!
Lol youre already in for it my friend
🤣 YUP
You put the whooping on that drag. nice collection of slabs. Patients paid off. Keep up the good work 🎣🐟👍
Thank you, Shane! Gotta keep on grinding! 👍
The old hand tied crappie jig is the longest standing most faithful crappie presentation there is. I know a few guys that strictly fish hand ties with no live bait all year and always catch fish.
They have definitely earned a regular soot in my arsenal!
#jigginwithjake tight lines!
Thanks buddy! Good luck! See ya Saturday!
good video and don't switch as often as I know I should.
Thanks! I’m the same way. To hard headed or sometimes just to lazy.
Nothing better than hooking into those big slabs. You definitely know it’s a good one when you set the hook.
No doubt about that!
Awesome day of crappie chasing
That it was! Thanks for watching, Arlie!
@@jigginwithjake2796 while I was watching it , finally came thru my RUclips channel
Great video man. Helping out your fellow angler really shows how great of a guy you are.
Always learning from you, keep it up. 💪
I appreciate your kind words! I may not be the most knowledgeable guy at the lake but what I do know I’m more than willing to share, including a hot bait! Thanks for keeping up with me!
Love the multitasking
I love it we’re gonna figure em out or die trying. That’s my motto. Lol awesome video! Niceeee fish!
Sometimes that’s what it takes!
Another great video brother ..... hands down favorite part of this one is for sure the "Dedication" and "Patience" ... that is key to catching fish sometimes you have to throw the whole tackle box at them to get them dialed in. The Dedication and Patience for sure paid off in this one brother great job Jake ... keep em coming bro
You are spot on, man! Just gotta keep workin’ at em! As always, thank you for supporting the efforts!
Nice haul! Way to stick it out What's the full name of that "jig juice" so I can look it up?
Head over to www.brushpilejig.com they’ll hook you up
@@jigginwithjake2796 thanks buddy
Another great video, as always informative and entertaining. Keep up the good work. I liked how you hooked up your buddy whose been a supporter since day 1. One day we’ll have to get out and just crush fish
Thank you, Chris. Our attempts in the spring fell kind of short. But, we will get together again soon and make it happen!
Awesome video man
Thank you! Appreciate ya watching!
I really wish I had a place close to me to catch a mess of slabs. The closest place I know of is an hour and a half away and my old truck might not make it. Great video Jake.
Thanks, Jo. Hopefully things turn around soon! God Bless!
Nice ..this in Illinois..wow ..
Thanks, Jet! It is an Illinois Lake. Thanks for watching!
@@jigginwithjake2796 i assume you don't get ice there near STL? Lol come up to wi for ice season
We rarely get safe ice for long periods of time. Sometimes a 2 week window. Sometimes a month. Planning a trip to Iowa in January. It’ll be my first time ice fishing.
@@jigginwithjake2796 clear lake Iowa it is..majority folks go there...come up sturgeon bay wi for whitefish and walleyes ..if you ever decide too hit me up....
Thanks, Jet!
Great job I'll be trying that right there soon
Thanks Seven! Have fun out there!
You sure have some nice shore access to fish from. Pretty lake!
I’m situated in between 4 really nice lakes. So I am pretty lucky.
Hey what you was using for the slabs
Cotton Candy jig from Rocky Mountain Custom Jigs. Link in the description
Awesome video! Love snagging slabs!
Thanks, Kyle!
Jake what hair jigs are you using
Rocky Mountain Custom Jigs all day
Another good one Jake!
Thank you, Lyle!
I'm new to the channel, great show and I'm looking forward to the next one..
Welcome, Willie! Glad you’re here! Thanks for watching!
Another great video. Nice Fish 👍
Thank you, old friend!
What pole you using ?
I believe that was the 7’6” from ACC Crappie Stix.
Nice Bag! Happy Fishing Buddy!
Thank you, my friend! Took a little work but got em dialed in!
We're you get the jigs from sir
Rocky Mountain Custom Jigs check em on Facebook!
I make my own soft plastic jigs and was wondering if you would review them for me. I'll mail them to you free of charge. Just need colors common to your area and a mailing address.
Hey southern. Connect with me on Facebook or Instagram and we can talk more.
What size ACC rod is that?
That’s the 7’6” split grip
Was this sangchris lake
Good to see you clean the hook from scales. I'm pretty sure when I first started flathead fishing I missed a few because I overlooked clearing my hook of the scales from the bait. Lol
Oh yeah! A guy can definitely miss some fish without doing that!
Thanks for watching!
I haven’t been out in awhile. I hope I can get out there this week
Thanks for watching! Good luck if you make it out, I’ll be stopping by to see ya this week!
#jiggingwithJake
Let’s go! Saturday will be fun!
great stuff....I need to learn to fish this area better
Thanks man!
Hi Buddy ! I always had my best luck using a little plastic Sassy Shad (dark green ) and and 1/8 oz. jig head.
Those were nice ones you caught there ! Keep up the good work. Awesome channel My Friend ! ✌🏼
I’m a big fan of plastics as well. In fact, if you get a chance, check out www.brushpilejig.com great company with great product!
Glad you enjoyed the video! Stay tuned, I’ve got some fun trips lined up!
Very nice my friend 👍👍
Appreciate it, flatty!
Dude, you killed it! New subscriber tonight. Tell us what lakes, what lb line, reel, pole your using. Temperture is important too brother!
Thanks, Mike! Glad to have you on the channel! I’ll get some more info in future videos! Stay tuned!
Glad to see that patience perseverance and knowledge paid off for you in the end. With all the low water situations do you have any Snag Tactics to share?
Sometimes that’s what it takes! Figuring them out is half the fun!
Snag tactics... Boy, I wish. The main thing I try to do on those rocks is don’t pull hard into a snag. If you’re easy on it, you can walk down to the other side of it and pop it out of the rocks. I think I actually had to do that in this video. The harder you lean into a snag the more it gets jammed in between those rocks.
@@jigginwithjake2796 might be a good addition to a video? The snap technique, the take your reel off and slide the pole down, and the DAMNIT just break it.
Very good idea. I use the snap technique. It’s also very effective. But, rod slide is not a trick I use. Now, the JUST BREAK IT... that happens often! 🤣
I have to admit that I haven’t looked, but since you catch and keep, I assume that you guys eat what you catch. Please do a video on how you clean (or filet) and cook your crappie. Or direct me to a video you’ve already done. I absolutely LOVE your channel. Thanks!!
You know I do. Love eating some fresh caught fish. The playlist section on my channel has a catch n cook tab. But, here are a few of my favorites.

See ya Saturday!
Started off slow but it was nice to see you find a way to catch some big ones, as you always do.
Thanks, Curtis! Hopefully we run into each other again this spring!
Great catch Jake nice slabs 😀👍
Thank you, sir!
Your our local Richard Gene the Fishing Machine. Thanks for the video Big Daddy!!!
Well... those are some big shoes to fill! Richard Gene is one of the reasons I started my channel. He was and still is a big inspiration to me!
Thanks for watching!
@@jigginwithjake2796 You got the gift of presentation. I hope this takes off for you.
Thank you, Sir! I’m gonna keep after it!
@@jigginwithjake2796 I am close to that Lake. You should do a video on strypers in spillway around Memorial Weekend. I hooked into several but they broke my line. Seems like everytime it floods, they run up there after shad. I used a plastic rubber shad bait.
Very good idea! I will definitely make a note of that and see what I can put together! Thanks, man!
Share the wealth,
Gotta take care of the folks that have your back!
#jigginwithjake
See yeah Saturday!
How long do you try with one method before trying a different one?
I’ll try one method for at least 30 minutes before changing it up
I always have a catfish line in the water while I fish for Saq-a-lait
It just didn’t work for me that day. Had to cover too much shoreline and couldn’t be close enough to my catfish rod.
Thanks for watching, David!
love the channel brother! new sub!
Thank you for watching! Glad to have you, Matt!
@@jigginwithjake2796 yessir, going to try to find some slabs here in a few on lake guntersville in alabama
Bet y’all got bigguns down that way!
@@jigginwithjake2796 Everything gets huge on guntersville lake, its no thing to catch them over 3lbs by the bucket load when they are hot.. catfishing is freaking awesome too at times.. everyone knows the bass fishing on guntersville is awesome lol
There was a question that I cannot respond to. “What did I spray on that jig?” That was JigJuice from www.brushpilejig.com I also use their plastics. All around great company with the highest quality product! Hope you check them out!
Hey Jake what other colors of Rocky Mountain custom hand tied jigs were in that box
I believe I only had the pink head white the blue and white body in this one. I’ve since ordered more colors. Black/pink, black/chartreuse, golden shiner, Texas shad are a few of the colors I’ve ordered.
@@jigginwithjake2796 thank you sir
No problem!
Is that sangchris
Hi Jake how are you. What kind of jig was you using
Hey Rick. I’m doing well! Hope you’re doing good! That was a custom made hair jig from Rocky Mountain Custom Jigs. It was a pink 32nd oz head with a light blue body/white tail and a #2 sickle hook.
Hi Jake I couldn’t find that color of jigs on there sit
Rick. Message them on what you’re looking for. Ray will know what you’re requesting.
What state?
ILLINOIS
Where was you fishing at?
Central Illinois.
20 baits later hahahaha love them days
🤣🤣🤣 it’s such a simple tip. I’m as guilty as others when it comes to digging deep in the box. It’s easy to just get zoned in and only throw one or two baits.
#jigginwithjake Keep up the content 👊
You know it! Tune in on Saturday!
They wanted the hair
They certainly did that day!
That's a thick crappie
Heavy shoulders!
That all you got. I got 200 fish a day on snake river and next time you make videos tell where you’re and places you at men. That how you make video.
🤣🤣🤣 Gotta follow length and creel limits on my waters, Lonely!
Plus I’m a firm believer in protecting the waterways I fish. So even if I could, I wouldn’t keep 200 fish per day...
Ya know Jake, I was really hoping that you would figure it out on your own, but have you noticed that the handles are on the wrong side of your reals?
🤣🤣🤣
Lol. I tried switching my handle last time I was out and didn’t make it past 2 casts. Couldn’t do the left side.
I’ve gotta have the rod in my right hand. Gives me more control on those fish.
Whats funny is I'm that odd guy because spinning reels i fish lh retrieve a but a baitcaster I have to fish rh retrieve. Strange I know
I fish left handed all the time because it's my dominant hand
Nice video man. 20 baits later is too funny. Why are the crappie in that area right now and what’s keeping them there? If the wind wasn’t blowing into your bank would that change things?
That’s the dam on the lake I fish. So it drops off into deep water awful quick. The Crappie move out of the deep water to feed along those rocks. Shad move in to feed as well as the water warms from the sun on the rocks. Wind is sometimes a factor down there. It’s also a power plant lake. So a southeast wind helps the most. That draws the warm water from the hot arm up along the dam.
I was hoping folks would get a kick out of the sponge bob reference. 🤣
@@jigginwithjake2796 Alright. That’s what I figured. We need some colder weather down here in TX. Appreciate it
