I’m a simple man, I see a video by Brian, I hit 👍
Another typical Active Melody vidio. They're all very much the same in one important way. We get to learn how it all works. Why it works and how to improve our playing. The clarity of these lessons and Brian's enthusiasm for what he does is an an absolute credit to him and a huge bonus for us. We can learn something of real value here. Pushing 450 lessons. This'll do me.
Well said! And so true! I've learned as much from Brian in just the past year as I have in the 20 years prior. THANK YOU!
This is hands down the best channel I’ve come across. I’ve narrowed it done to this channel and a few others for specific styles, but this is definitely the main channel to learn from.
Thanks Brian. These last 2 lessons are putting light in my tunnel of a brain!
Active Melody is by far the best bang for your buck on the internet today, period! Brian’s style of teaching is brilliant and has ten folded my playing over the years.
Hi Brian, I've been a subscriber on an off for a bunch of years. But suffice to say, the past 3 weeks have been absolutely epic. The cream of the crop.
You are indisputably one of the very, very top online guitar teachers. I'd throw Ian Stitch in that zone too.
But thank you. It's been such a great run the past few weeks
Thank u so mutch again❤. U make life so mutch better. Now i start to get a clue of what im doing😅 the way u explayn every little detail. Love it!
@Active Melody. These "Play Blues By Yourself" lessons are fantastic.
I'm loving how you throw in classic blues licks and turnarounds.
This was ridiculously helpful. Thanks.
22:58 no longer drifting around since I stumbled on this channel. Love the way everything is explained. Learning the reasoning behind why your fingers are in a certain spot is so much more helpful that blindly trying to remember tabs. Only a matter of time now before going premium. Thanks Brian for connecting the dots. A big leap past 4 weeks.
Really some great techniques and tips, thanks.
I am relatively new to this channel but really getting great results from my time spent here. Been an acoustic player for a long time. Wanted to break into blues on electric. Loving the stand alone episodes and the teaching style is perfect for me. I'm able to learn a new blues each week. Thanks Brian!!
Bottom line “playing and learning”
Thx B
Love your way of teaching.....making it easy for a senior like me to follow....thank you from the Philippines😊
Your playing style reminds me of Vince Gill. You squeeze a lot of sweet juice out of your notes. Way to go!
Hello Brian. Such a sweet tasteful blues. I like the feeling and emotion you create, choosing the notes and your technique. Your teaching approach is easy to follow and always makes logical sense. Thank you for helping me improve my playing. You are much appreciated.
There’s a lot here if you take the time. One of your best videos Brian I think.
Hey Brian- First let me say you have the absolute best guitar videos available and you're a class act- but Ive gotta say the haircut is great. You're ageless, man!
Haven't quite got my head round this yet, need to watch it a few more times. A minor pentatonic has notes taken from C major. C Minor Pentatonic has notes taken from Eb (C, Eb, F, G, Bb), Eb and Bb aren't in the key of C Major. So I would always play A minor pentatonic over a C major chord sequence, so I need to work out how C pentatonic works with C major chord sequence. I'm sure I'll get it in the end. Thanks Brian this will help me get to grips with this eventually I'm sure. I've learnt a lot from your post over the years.
Always great lessons Brian - thank you! Congratulations on 400K Subs!!
Classic! Now I remember why I follow and subscribe to Active Melody. Brilliant stuff Brian.
Some great little nuggets of information there, which I sort of already knew but I now understand the theory behind it much better. Great lesson once again.
Brian I just Wanted to Post here Again and Let You Know that This Lesson was the one that broke me. I just signed up for Premium Membership. I've been following along with your RUclips lessons lately and Having alot of fun, but I've loved playing this lesson so much over the last few weeks that I simply HAD to have the second half of the video. Looking forward to taking your blues and Hendrix courses... aswell as using the forum on your site.
Nice! Thanx Brian for ALL that You do!
Just quality! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
So smooth, thanks for another great inspiring vid 👍
Man, you wrote this one for me. I love this style. Awesome. Starting now.

Spot on great video lesson once again, Brian.
Great lesson love learning these! Thanks!
Thank You for sharing your gold!!!!
Great song/lesson Brian. That fretboard looks like it's had some play time! Cheers
Fantastic lesson, thank you! 👍
What a beautiful patina on that strat neck. Just a one of a kind guitar. I would love to hear the story on that piece
Awesome lesson
Nice work coach!
Reminds me a lot of EP017. Great stuff.
another great one brian
Beautiful 😎
NICE!!
Excelente canal maestro se aprecia lo que enseña. Que sonido!!!
Superb. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Brian. A technical lesson for sure, think I understood it though.
thanks again!
Very tasty. I’ll make a coffee and get started.
Sixth, ninth or minor depending on context things to think about, one more puzzle piece.
Great follow up to the previous lesson and badass fingerstyle skills, Brian! Also can't help but notice how well the backlight works with the strat body color 👌😍
Nice stuff. But, I have to be honest that I tend toward Rock and Country than the blues. Us white boys from the midwest that are around 68 to 70 years old grew up on classic Rock and that is really about all we really know, including Elvis, The Beatles and the Stones. But, I love most all your lessons and I have learned a few things, though I should try and learn more. I know a few blues players and they are good, but I am a child of Rock and that is my favorite music. I had plans on breaking out with my band Jimmy Florida and The Hurricanes just when the pandemic panicked everyone and all the bars, clubs and music venues were shutting down and cancelling live music. There are still a few small places here in North Florida that I do a duet with a friend, but the five piece band has been put on hold. A Country Boy Can Survive. I have lots of my karaoke recordings on my channel and I have over thirty more on my Soundcloud channel. Mainly, I am a singer that plays some guitar.
A major on the 5th fret....playing some open strings should sound ok. Or good 👍🕷🕷🕷🕸🦟🐍👻👍🐀🕸🕸🐉🐊🦎🐲🐸🕷🕷🦝🧹🧹🧹🧹
Can you do a updated video on the caged system
Wow, that intro! Man I want to learn that! That's like Ry Cooder shit.
Hey I ran across some advice from a guitar teacher who recommended that when you are trying to mix major/minor pentatonic scales in the blues, use the major to cover the 1 chord and the minor otherwise. Just an idea as for beginners (like me) as sometimes a rule like this takes out a potential for more confusion. What do you think? Thanks for all you do. Still slowly working on this.
There;s different ways you can go about it. It just depends..what you know or familar with.
Just build on what you already know or is familar to you.
The INLAYS are in DOMINANT pentatonic ( ROOT at the 5th fret)
It took me LESS than 6 months to master it..
It was a pain , at first...but I took my time ( SLOWLY) to learn the enter fretboard.
but trust me...it was FASTER for me to LEARN it.
then to find ways to get around it.lol
Just keep it SIMPLE.. Do one chord at a time.
I can get all complicated on you...
Lets say I was in F MAJOR/D min
The C7 is the V chord of F MAJOR
G7 A7 into D min is D melodic min....The E min chord is Dor b2...
In a nutshell you could play
F Maj G7 into C7 into F MAJOR
Or you caould play the N6 chord of D min
Eb Maj7 ( which bacailly C min)
Eb maj7 C min A7 into D min
Heck I'll even do this...
INVERT the E min....it's sort of like C maj7
D min E min A7 into D min
D min C maj7 A7 into D min
or extend it.
F Maj7 G7 into C Maj7 or C min A7 into D min
or if you use F Harmonic MAJOR = Bb lydb3 ( Bb min or dim)
....................D Harmonic min = Bb lyd #2 ( B maj, min or dim
anyways.
F Maj Bb min C min A7 into D min :-P
or i can say I used the C HUNGARIAN MAJOR
( Ion #2, #4, b7 or Mix #2, #4)
1, 3, 5, b7
1, #2, 5, b7
1 #2, #4
1, #2, #4, 6 ( full dim)
1, #2, #4, b7 ( half dim)
Another stellar lesson and builds nicely off last week’s. Brian, what is your signal chain these days for these videos? Have a wonderful weekend…..
If I'm not mistaken I think he uses a Kemper for a lot of his videos. Could be wrong though
@@SixStringSlinger1 Been a while and I can’t remember??? Thanks, man….
Kemper for this one. Matchless amp profile I believe
@@activemelody Thanks, Brian!
Question on how the T Bone chord can be seen as the 1? Doesn't have the root from what I can tell..
Ill give some of these a shot
I keep trying to come up with my own...some success.. some not so much...but yours always sound spot on
🎼✌🏿🌎✌🏻🎼
I get decent info from some of your videos but I always have to remove the BLUES variable. Nothing I listen to is blues related.
Is that a Mary Kay?
Man that's soooo juicy it's dripping !
Is that a tomatillo journeyman
Yes
@@activemelody hi Brian I have 1 also .how do you find it
