I live in Italy, and black tie is usually seen only for weddings or high-class evening events, while white tie is all but forgotten, only used if you're going to be received in an audience by the Pope - which requires a white tie ensemble with a BLACK waistcoat, BTW. As for the amusing comment "if a boy cannot tie his own bowtie, then he should not wear a tuxedo", well I laughed pretty hard because I'm almost 50 but I'm the only one among my friends and relatives who can actually tie a bowtie LOL

I shall be attending a cruise next summer, and it includes four formal nights. I am quite young (as in under 18), and I feel a very distinct motivation to attain a tuxedo, despite the likelihood of outgrowing it. I have always held an interest in classic menswear, and I would like to believe that I wear such as well as my budget will allow.
A question: I'm 13 y/o right now, but I already know how to tie a bow tie, I learned it for a winter prom in school. Was it very wrong to wear a black tie outfit there?(it was in the evening and I learned about black tie outfit before)
No. When it was my prom a couple years ago, I wore a semi-formal suit, but I saw some guys wearing full on black tie tuxedoes. My tip is, do what you like. If wearing a black tie tux makes you feel good, by all means wear one. When you get older, around early to mid 20’s, you will need some business suits / black tie tuxedoes. Although, it’s more likely you will use business suits
he's explained about some specific body fit issues he has due to his disability. i guess that makes it hard for him to get the fits just right. and also that the slim fit of the modern era not only does he not care for, but doesn't really fit his physique and proportions either. still it seems on his existing clothes if the waist was taken in a little and the legs taken in a little the fit would look more right.
It seems the Tuxedo had historical correlations to the bourgeois class of the Industrial Revolution. However as the bourgeois fragmented into what might be dubbed the brand as attributed to corporate structure then regalia seems to be added to the classic Tuxedo so as to distinguish the group from within the broader class structure which has all but vanished into forms of identity politics as trends within political economies of scale.
In Finland at universities, students and professors are expected to wear white tie during big and important occasions, then we also carry three ropes on our chests, one for the university, one for the Area where we are from and one for our specific area of research.
I find myself preferring the tuxedo to a normal suit. I’m in my late 60’s and have worn tuxes pretty much my whole adult life. For me, it’s easier to put the tux on, insert the studs and links (always wear double cuffs!), tie up the bow, button on the braces and put the cummerbund on. Included are the shoes and I can put the whole garment on in just under 20 minutes and then will detail it. Most of the ladies in my ward appreciate that I dress up and love my bow ties (yes I wear more than just black) and the other men don’t say much, but secretly admire me for being willing to dress up formal for church. I often get asked where I get my stuff and that’s indeed high praise. I harbor a desire that we men go back to dressing up like they did in the early 20th century even though most of us don’t have dirty jobs to really make the changing of clothes seem like a big deal. I just think that we need to do it so that we don’t have to look sloppy. I consider short sleeves an abomination. But if we do abandon the casual look and start dressing formally we will be doing ourselves a big favor because we will start taking many things more seriously than we do now. And that’s how we will actually achieve the greatness that should be ours. Elections help but it is also up to us to bring about a different attitude towards our daily lives that will really make the difference. And dressing formally is just one part of that attitude change.
