You forgot a pretty big part. The reason Stanley's family curse was lifted is because Stanley carried Zeroni up the mountain so he could drink while singing the song. This is what Stanley's great great grandfather forgot to do.

The curse is always implied by the author and is up for interpretation whether you believe in the curse or not. Mind you, Stanley's interpretation of the events unfolding change from misfortune to good fortune soon after this same event. Important part for the theme, maybe not the plot synopsis.

love how this js sums up a lot of the big events, some smaller details would be nice that are also kinda important, but as a very fast summary, its good, also doesnt spoil teh depth for some characters if u js wanna know what happens a lil bit b4 reading the book ig
