Deep Rock Galactic actually has the best battle pass system. They're all free, you can switch between and progress anyone you want anytime, it's all cosmetics and emotes.
I think there is potential in PVE, even with the hero kits. Look at Remnant/Remnant 2, shooter game with dynamic abilities, interesting enemy designs, variety of maps, bosses, you can play solo or with others. They just had to do things like perks, loadouts, modifiers, and some bit of story/writing. But nah it's too much investment and Blizzard is greedy.
Minecraft Dungeons actually does the same thing with battle passes as Sker Ritual. You just buy the battle passes you care about, have them forever, and can complete them in any order.
Deep rock galactic also has a very nice battle pass. entirely free for all players, old passes can be worked on too. I dont play it anymore, but it was a very worthwhile time investment when I did
First time watching your content. I am really impressed with your animation. Thank you for the work you put into this and for sharing it. Kind of surprised you did not mention Deep Rock Galactic's battle pass system.
My favorite movie adaptation of a game was the feature length film based on Overwatch 2’s original vision for PvE. I thought it was so cool and inspiring that they would not only not release the point of adding a number onto the end of a game title, but then also not release a movie based on the content that was supposed to justify adding the “2” at the end of the title. So brave!
something about the mythic tiers that really pisses me off that i haven’t seen anyone mention is how obviously and terribly shoehorned in they are. the original point of having different styles was just for the sake of customisation which is pretty clear when you look at the first few mythics (genji, kiri, jq) as there’s not any “better” options they’re just different so you can personalise it. however when they decided to switch to the current system they for some reason felt the need to shoehorn in this tier shit similar to those upgrading skins from early fortnite and it’s really impacted the quality of the mythics that have come out since imo (not that there was really any consistency beforehand anyway). the fact that there are “better” tiers like with the new reaper armour just makes the skin less personal because everyone is just going to pick the same level 4 stuff. it also kills the whole draw of mythics being like three skins in one because no one is going to pick the tier one shit like the reaper skin tier one is just a dog with abs it looks terrible and is clearly just meant to serve as a gatekeeper for the “real” skin at tier four. it really pisses me off because it’s such a classic ow2 bait and switch where they pretended they were improving things but they just killed the core things that made mythics cool and draped it’s skin over a new tab in the shop. if they’d really wanted to improve it they would have just had tier 80 be one mythic token that you can use to fully unlock a mythic every season but they pulled this shit specifically so they could do their fucked (industry standard) tactic of mismatching the amounts of purchasable currency with what people actually spend just to squeeze a bit of extra cash out of us chumps
Memory has trouble remembering all my options, but the game for the original Spider-Man 2 film has got to be one of the greatest in the category. Funny enough, it was also another game under Activision, with it's developer forever being sentenced to the Call of Duty mines (at least their CODs are the best in my opinion).
Side note: WOW your animations are epic and slick. Just found your account today and I'm excited to see more. Anyways yeah yeah overwatch 2 stinky stinky dumb dumb. Looking forward to your new content! SIncerely, a new fangirl :3
That one comment is right; the PVE enemies ARE unfun to fight. But it begs the question, then; if OW heroes are only fun when fighting other OW heroes, why didn't they make the enemies BASED on the PVP? Like, there's a reason TF2's mvm mode has all the enemies be robotic versions of the mercs.
I would wait for them to turn things around, but rhe amount of talking amd not acting theyre doing rn tells me not to wait. Maybe they will right the ship, but ill probably be playing something else when they do
I hate comparing things to show my appreciation of them, that being said, your style reminds me of FunKe but you are still uniquely you, I love your style :). You also bring up some great points in the video, it honestly is baffling what corporations are able to get away with when it comes to how they treat their employees :(
Another good example of a battle pass is Deep Rock Galactic’s performance pass. -Completely Free (it’s a paid game after all, everyone is offered the same quality, and it encourages actually playing the game) -No FOMO (All items get transferred to the in-game cosmetic shop once the season ends. And as of the latest season, you can go back to previous passes and obtain whatever you missed out on.) -The items in the pass are consistently good But yeah, nice video!
Hey! I love the video! I felt the inspiration from Funke in style and thought you did a really interesting spin on it. Absolutely looking forward to more :))
God that thing about the bonuses is so annoying because it's often not even the devs themselves that are to blame for a game failing, as Overwatch 2 is a perfect example of that. Now the new system is basically "Higher ups get to make terrible decisions and then the devs are punished for it!"
Halo Infinite and IIRC Deep Rock Galactic has permanent BP systems. 10:26 You missed quite a bit here, firstly that bundle only gives you the base (level 1) mythic weapon. The bundle doesn't outright tell you it's only the base weapon, as it only says (paraphrasing) "additional mythic levels can be unlocked" and many overlook that only to find that you need to purchase more prisms. It's predatory to say the least. (EDIT: xQc actually got scammed by this on stream for not looking carefully, illustrating my point) 12:11 Weapon inspects were shown off in Overwatch 2 trailers with base skin heroes. Now? Blizzard renamed weapon inspects and are now called "flourish", are not free and are tied to mythic weapons that you are to pay for. I genuinely think that limiting "flourishes/flourish" to mythic weapons to be the upmost disgusting thing in a little while that Blizzard has done, considering the many unique skins every hero has including those you pay real money for in the shop. Sure would be nice to have a "flourish" and flaunt them. No, that wouldn't make Blizzard any money and thus would make shareholders sad and or compensation packages/bonus targets you mentioned.
Hey there, love the vid. Another game that does BP's amazingly is Deeprock Galactic. They are free every season and they recently added the ability to go back to previous seasons for free
DEEP ROCK GALATIC HAS THE BEST BATTLE PASS. Other than being a fun game and the only dlc is cosmetic the battle passes are free. All of them as you get to choose what battlepass is active. Not only that each battle pass changes the look of the rig or the hub you stay in as well as add in different missions such as S2 is robots S5 is infection rocks and add in random events related depending on host. Each pass also has “scrip” witch can be earned or gained by doing in mission events and let you pick and choose stuff through there unique cosmetics trees
Minecraft Dungeons did their battlepasses like that too, and recently Microsoft has been pushing the battlepass onto overwatch. We may get a shake up soon, but it would be copeium to expect anything good.
Very much on the smaller end, but the game Super Animal Royale actually has a system where all battlepasses are permanent, although they cost a bit more to get when they're off season. Not exactly a complete removal of FOMO, but it's a difference of $7.50 instead of $5.50, and the price isn't increased if you fail to complete the pass before the end of the season, so that FOMO really doesn't impact you unless you're a completionist actively trying to have all the items!
Regarding battle passes, Warframe has the best bp system I have ever seen. The bp is called nightwave and consists of 30 levels of rewards with no premium bp and also no way to just shell out money to fast-forward through it, also the rewards range from extra weapon slots to exclusive cosmetics and mods you cannot get through any other methods in-game. Also Warframe made sure FOMO wouldn't happen by letting everyone know that the cosmetic rewards and mods will be brought back in future nightwaves
Another good battle pass is in Deep Rock Galactic. I believe they added this recently, but you can go back and activate old battle passes. So if you missed out on getting a specific thing only found in the battle pass you can just go and get it, the only drawback is that you have these collectibles that help with the battle pass but only for the current season, so if you activate an old battle pass you miss out on the bonus those collectibles give you. Mind you this is in a 30 dollar game, Overwatch used to cost somewhere between 40 and 60 dollars depending on what version you bought before it went f2p, and the battle pass in Deep Rock is free, whereas in Overwatch you need to spend real money to buy a pass that doesn't pay itself back unlike most other battle passes. I mean technically it can be free, but you'll miss out on a pass because you only get 600 premium coins and the pass costs like 1000, so you miss out like every other pass.
The Mythic bundle for the weapon you showed looks like it only contains the first level of the weapon as well. It would be closer to $80 if you bought all the Mythic prisms required iirc
9:59 That's not true! You can in fact buy skins separately from the bundles through the items page for that hero. If you go into your loadout while a shop skin is available in the shop as a bundle, you can buy it from that screen like you would do with a regular skin using credits - they're cheaper than the bundle, too.
Deep Rock Galactic battlepass knocks them both out of the water. Free battlepass for everyone. You can replay previous seasons any time, getting everything in that previous season. No FOMO. No bullshit. Just play the game as much as you like and earn anything you want.
First time i Watch any of your videos, and i Just wanna Say i love you and your content. I Always wanted to make videos like these with animation like yours but never actually did. You are such an inspiration for me
Thank you so much! Appreciation means a lot especially as a much smaller channel! I'm hoping to make more animations like this in the future, with enough perseverance I'm sure you can get your own videos up and running in no time
another game with a really great battlepass is sea of thieves, the battlepass' content is 90% free, the premium only gets you one complete ship skin and some other clothes and enough premium coins to buy the next battlepass, while the bulk of the cosmetics and the "big reward" at the end is actually in the free version. Additionally after the bp is over, the free cosmetics get added to the ingame shops for free ingame grind-able currency
Another game with a good/great battle pass system is Deep Rock Galactic (though the ability to swap between passes was just recently added with the Season 5 update)
1:50 CS2 has a better transition than CS:GO?.. It barely has 10% of the content at launch, and now still around that same percentage almost a year later, along with a broken anticheat. And FOMO? Counter-Strike has $200,000 skins you can only get if you were there 8 years ago. That was such a bad part in the video :/
I enjoy your animation style It reminds me of Funke, and Lethal League keep making videos, and put a MORSEL bit more emphasis or energy in otherwise very soothing, and entertaining. Just a lil lokey, but if that's what you enjoy keep doing it.

You just buy the battle passes you care about, have them forever, and can complete them in any order.
peak analysis for the layman thank you friendly bucket hat fella
clicking on this thumbnail i knew the video quality was gonnabe great, i was this ready to click subscribe

I can gift you smth if you want
I say 2,000 dolla
Deep Rock Galactic also uses the idea of playing through previous battle-passes and expansions, and I wish more games actually did that.
My favorite movie video game adaptation is Madagascar the video game because i TAKE US TO THE FLOWERS
5:11 seeing Prototype right there. Made me so happy. That’s a franchise. I wish they did care about again.
So brave!
something about the mythic tiers that really pisses me off that i haven’t seen anyone mention is how obviously and terribly shoehorned in they are. the original point of having different styles was just for the sake of customisation which is pretty clear when you look at the first few mythics (genji, kiri, jq) as there’s not any “better” options they’re just different so you can personalise it.
however when they decided to switch to the current system they for some reason felt the need to shoehorn in this tier shit similar to those upgrading skins from early fortnite and it’s really impacted the quality of the mythics that have come out since imo (not that there was really any consistency beforehand anyway). the fact that there are “better” tiers like with the new reaper armour just makes the skin less personal because everyone is just going to pick the same level 4 stuff. it also kills the whole draw of mythics being like three skins in one because no one is going to pick the tier one shit like the reaper skin tier one is just a dog with abs it looks terrible and is clearly just meant to serve as a gatekeeper for the “real” skin at tier four.
it really pisses me off because it’s such a classic ow2 bait and switch where they pretended they were improving things but they just killed the core things that made mythics cool and draped it’s skin over a new tab in the shop. if they’d really wanted to improve it they would have just had tier 80 be one mythic token that you can use to fully unlock a mythic every season but they pulled this shit specifically so they could do their fucked (industry standard) tactic of mismatching the amounts of purchasable currency with what people actually spend just to squeeze a bit of extra cash out of us chumps
wow i didn’t realise i wrote that much i probs didn’t need to say that it really pisses me off you can definitely tell
Wow funke has spawned more funkes
make more videos like these wth this is awesome
you can buy the skins separately from the bundle just go to the hero gallery when the item is in the shop
ur edits are so gorgeous
Really good video, I really liked it, thanks for the video, its a real good one.
The fact that the video ends at 13:37 is 👌
That one comment is right; the PVE enemies ARE unfun to fight. But it begs the question, then; if OW heroes are only fun when fighting other OW heroes, why didn't they make the enemies BASED on the PVP?
Like, there's a reason TF2's mvm mode has all the enemies be robotic versions of the mercs.
Wow the animation is so cool!
9:07 aged like fine vine!

I would wait for them to turn things around, but rhe amount of talking amd not acting theyre doing rn tells me not to wait. Maybe they will right the ship, but ill probably be playing something else when they do

@@KingOfKarma LMAO
You've done a REALLY good job tho😁
Keep going with it👍
@@KingOfKarma very nice and expressive model.
The battle pass system mentioned in seeker ritual was first introduced in halo infinite and it’s a really great system
Till this day never seen battlepass done better then warframe
I really enjoy the editing and avatar video essay format >:0
I LOVE the way you censor curses lmfao
I hate comparing things to show my appreciation of them, that being said, your style reminds me of FunKe but you are still uniquely you, I love your style :). You also bring up some great points in the video, it honestly is baffling what corporations are able to get away with when it comes to how they treat their employees :(
Another good example of a battle pass is Deep Rock Galactic’s performance pass.
-Completely Free (it’s a paid game after all, everyone is offered the same quality, and it encourages actually playing the game)
-No FOMO (All items get transferred to the in-game cosmetic shop once the season ends. And as of the latest season, you can go back to previous passes and obtain whatever you missed out on.)
-The items in the pass are consistently good
But yeah, nice video!
(EDIT: xQc actually got scammed by this on stream for not looking carefully, illustrating my point)
12:11 Weapon inspects were shown off in Overwatch 2 trailers with base skin heroes.
Close enough, welcome back FUNKe
W drg (it wasn't mentioned in the video as I wasn't aware about this when writing the script, but if I knew I would've included it)
$15 for three pve levels? They better have been masterpieces of game design and storytelling omfg
The Mythic bundle for the weapon you showed looks like it only contains the first level of the weapon as well. It would be closer to $80 if you bought all the Mythic prisms required iirc
The bit about earning old bp items and perma passes..I wish more games did that even past games (Overwatch and Fortnite being examples)
Close enough, welcome back FUNKe🙏
36 seconds in and I'm sold, subscribed
9:59 That's not true! You can in fact buy skins separately from the bundles through the items page for that hero. If you go into your loadout while a shop skin is available in the shop as a bundle, you can buy it from that screen like you would do with a regular skin using credits - they're cheaper than the bundle, too.
Close enough, welcome back FUNKe
Deep Rock Galactic battlepass knocks them both out of the water. Free battlepass for everyone. You can replay previous seasons any time, getting everything in that previous season. No FOMO. No bullshit. Just play the game as much as you like and earn anything you want.
Holy shit the presentation is amazing
So there are FunKe clones now? NEATO
this video style feels so funke inspired
your animated character is so cute
I didnt understand how this get into my feed, turns out you're one of the guys making Pyro Slop
Helldivers 2 has it's problems but it's battlepasses are not one of them.
Where’s the inspect animations?
Monster House
The ones on Gamecube and Ps2 are Resident Evil for kids and the Gba port is a zelda like with water guns one of my favorites ^
I enjoy your animation style It reminds me of
Funke, and Lethal League keep making videos, and put a MORSEL bit more emphasis or energy in otherwise very soothing, and entertaining.
Just a lil lokey, but if that's what you enjoy keep doing it.
FunkE..?
12:33 lmaoooo I was kinda watching up to this point like…. “Uhhhhh it’s honestly not that big a deal about the battle pass”. I’ve been OW playing since season 1 and got back into OW recently. Never played OW2 before recently. I do understand the criticisms of the pve and honestly maybe I was wrong for thinking I’d enjoy the bot modes it’s kinda sobering to hear that quote you pulled about PVE being lame…
Although as a Main tank main, going into OW2 With the one tank… I love it. I feel like a god
PEAK RUclips HAS RETURNED!!!
CS2 is fire, that transition worked magically well. Overwatch (2) on the other hand.....
Only 7000 subs and 200 views? Damn, kudos for the effort and good luck.
Very nice editing :)
