I don't really think he "gives a shit" When we only kill toriel, he's super mad.
I think he could forgive most of the others as self defense. Undyne, Mettaton and Asgore were going to kill you, and there was no obvious way around that. Papyrus will always leave you at 1 HP and he's much friendlier than all the others. Sans admires Papyrus and he basically treated your run-ins with Papyrus' traps and puzzles as a harmless game.
As for Toriel, he only knows she wanted you protected. He doesn't know the details. Even she forgives you for killing her.

The thing is Sans knows he can't change the timeline,therefore he isn't trying to unless you really really piss him off.

Although he knows that Sans hides things and that he can manipulate space-time to make jokes, people believe that Papyrus doesn't know about his brother's skills and knowledge (At most the control of gravity, but because it's something very used in comics). Although Papyrus makes puzzles that require great knowledge of engineering, people believe that Papyrus is incompetent. Although Papyrus calls Mettaton his "Favorite Sexy Rectangle" and suggests to Undyne to call Alphys with a hot voice, people think Papyrus doesn't know about "those" topics. I could go on like this all day, but I think it's clear by now.

For me true genocide wasnt that bad for me it's RPG style genocide that gets me (don't search and kill all monsters just kill who you encounter, bosses aren't one hit)

This ending is very interesting, it seems better than the no kill neutral run. But the facts come through and it seems Sans has forgiven you for slaughtering the whole underground. This also relates to San's chronic depression theory and that he doesn't care what happens to the world because his brother isn't he only thing he cares about. Although there are the other characters such as Toriel and such who play a key support it seems interesting that this ending would have a sort of positive outcome.
i mean, technically every boss kill outside papyrus and muffet is self defense, since they can show mercy. also players can be easily tricked into killing Toriel because of the massive damage near the end. Sans doesn't know that you could've made it without killing anyone with intricate dialogue and acting choices.

Even Sans drops his joking self for a moment and even takes it upon himself for exactly that happening, saying "This is what happens when people like me take it easy."
With all other ending, they still have a semblance of hope to getting out but now but now? They literally have no chance.
@@ZeroDimnope, the worst neutral route is the one where you spare mettaton and papyrus and no one else. Mettaton becomes a dictator and basically silences everyone who speaks against him. At least in this route people aren’t getting murdered for criticising a dystopia, papyrus and sans are a pretty good combo when it comes to leading people, papyrus as a figurehead to uplift people and sans as the person who actually does the more grounded stuff.

Papyrus has the most painful role in Undertale. He never lets his feelings out, he puts on a happy facade to hide his worst fears, to hide the truth from himself. He *knows* everyone is dead, but he doesn’t *believe* everyone is dead. Papyrus is the ultimate stoic in the game, he internalizes every bad feeling and stays silent even when he’s about to break.

When I first played the game, I couldn’t figure out how to spare most of the characters,
so I just killed pretty much everyone. Except for, for whatever reason, Papyrus. So I got this ending.

Everytime Papyrus talks in the neutral endings, it hits the hardest. Even worse than Sans telling you to go to hell, or Alphys saying she should’ve killed you. He’s so naive. He thinks that you’re a good person, no matter what you do, he just wants to believe in you. He knows you killed everyone. He knows they’re all dead. But he pretends everything’s fine. He hopes that Sans is telling him the truth, that everyone is wrong about you, that his gut is wrong about you. It’s so hard to read.

@@filipnikitovic6717 I don’t remember exactly what you have to do to get her to say it but in one of the neutral endings. Obviously she’s still alive, and I think Undyne is too because if you kill Undyne, Alphys “disappears”.
It’s even more disturbing when you realize you never fight alyphys yet she still “disappears”
2 years late but killing mettaton counts as killing alphys

This might be because he starts to relaise that they might have gotten hurt or died. He wants to calm the human and give them hope with this sentence, because he thinks that the human doesn't know what happened. If Papyrus gets spared in genocide, he will actually say that he was worried about the battle or something like this. But this also proves that Papyrus is not dumb at all, just naive and very optimistic.
I don’t know what I thought the worst possible ending was before this, but this is by far the saddest ending in the game.
I think a better word would be sadistic. am i sadistic because i did this? Send help i'm dead inside i'm going to go back and kill papyrus sparing him fromm this cruel fate.

I killed everyone except some of the normal monsters cause I missed them And Sans said “Heya is anyone there, well I’ll just leave a message. ( I can’t remember exactly what Sans said ) Monsters have disappeared along with the king. Why am I not taking over? I’m not fit for the job. At least there’s more space because of the monsters you killed. I hope you’re happy. Just kidding. B u r n i n h e l l.”
What's even sadder is that its speculated that after killing undyne or mettaton alphys commits suicide which makes this ending even more sad now that a character that you didn't kill killed herself because of you.
The saddest ending is the genocide ending because you have to kill sans
God, Papy is so smart yet so kind. He knows what's happened, he knows what you've done, but his kindness and empathy won't let him hate you. Even if you can kill him, (which I could, though I didn't get much farther with his death on my conscious) he tries to help you. He admits to fearing you if you spare him... God, Papy truly is amazing.
Papyrus seems to keep Sans sane, no matter how many of the others you kill. Killing Papyrus but not going full genocide results in Sans not fighting you, but being extremely pissed at you.

I could NEVER do a genocide. I don't have the heart to kill them, especially papyrus! He's too innocent and forgiving, I legit cried when I first saw this video after he said, "sans said they're on vacation, I hope they're having fun!" It broke my heart😪

Yeah, and by the look on his face, I'm pretty sure he knows they're dead but is rolling with the "vacation" Sans mentioned for Sans' sake.
Man papyrus knows they are dead because In the genocide route once it’s his battle he knows what you’ve done and spares you and still has faith in you even if you kill him. But finally when sans pranks you whenever he gives you keys to his room papyrus says this “is sans pea king you across time and space? I hate when he does that!” Which means papyrus knows of sans’ power
Yea... vacation.... according to how the people are acting it feels like your going on vacation to pap...
From a certain moral perspective this route can make a lot of sense. After all, Papyrus never actually tries to kill you. Because of that, there's no need to have murderous intent in response. In turn, all of the others except for Alphys do genuinely try to kill you. And you don't *directly* kill Alphys.
Edit: Toriel never actually tries to kill you either, of course, but that's only learned if you do so poorly she holds back.
