- Carl is super excited about the New Schumacher LD3 which is a long way from where we started with our budget racing with the FTX Vantage and Ftx Comet.
A year of buggy racing and Carl still has not had a competitive car to race but he finally has his hands on the LD3M. Ideal for indoor carpet racing…
Now that the car is built it is time to test it on the track and although a simple small club meeet would be ideal Carl opted to go to Junction16 for their amazing Winter series event. One of the most interesting tracks which was crazy technical and not really what Carl needed for his first outing... still fun was had and much was learnt.

Could have done with something easier for a first outing
Great vid... It was super hard track. I didn't know they moved the big double after P1 and I struggled the rest of the day with it!
Yeah I cringed as I saw them moving it closer to the turn .. made it much harder to gauge and less room for error. Learnt a lot from it though as I was trying to turn on landing and car was digging in and flipping so took a while to learn that one.
Jumping beautifully!
I was starting to get the hang of it towards the end.

Trying to push in the final and there is so much more in the car … just too many mistakes on a very technical track
Professional setup guys well done like the marshaling hopefully it will help some youngsters get off the streets and keep out of trouble. In the future, the next generation of racing is what matters for the future of rc.car racing track day events and national championships 🏁 😁😎👍

Nice, decent first run. Might perhaps have been nice to have a little clip of the car with body on at the start before the racing so I knew what I was looking for/at .
Should have shown a pic of the bottom of the car as it spent most of its time on its roof hahahaha

So how does the LD3 compare to your old car, looked good in the air. I could never get the hang of offroad ,gave up 2wd a few years ago after a disastrous regional at Broxtowe, loved the look on Eugene's face at the very beginning of the video 😂,enjoy your racing.
So only driven the car in total for about 30mins but immediately noticed it is so much easier to drive than the TLR… probably need to do a day at Midlands raceway to get some track time to dial it in.
This is a course that requires a lot of technique. seems interesting

Well done Carl, had some bad luck in that last one.
I do some 1/10 off-road on high grip and I think it’s the hardest rc to start out in.
Silly mistakes and a bit of bad luck did not make for a good final but I got a few good laps in. Starting to feel more confident just as the day finished ….

Well done Carl 👍🏻. A good shakedown run for the new buggy. Did it feel much better than the Losi? I agree with you that after racing onroad, off-road buggy racing is a steep learning curve! Managed to get to dms the other night and had a great time but it is a lot harder than onroad!
Most technical track so far but car is sooo good for first outing ..

Racing incident or a bit of red mist . I don’t know . There really needs to be a rule In rc racing about touching other cars. There is nothing more frustrating than a pile up in the first bend especially when there is only one final.
No red mist from Popalong on this one trying to keep it clean … just lacking in skills on this occasion …

It was challenging wasn’t it Carl! Qualifying was ok, but, our finals! Jesus!
I thought I had the line … but that’s racing I guess… had to take evasive action on a couple of occasions… I quite enjoy close battles on track.

With more time I would have been a lot more confident with the LD3
Car is better than me at the moment
I see everyone wearing a vest and really don't see the practicality of them. When you Brits are racing, are you watching your car or the guys in the vest? Who is the vest for?.....the spectators or the driver? It looks like some unreasonable red tape someone thought of that forces drivers to spend money.
It’s a stipulation of the BRCA, they have to be worn when marshalling, but most people leave them on, (to do with insurance apparently) however I do see your point.
Good racing coverage. That Mark Buttle realy did some aggressive driving that tangled you two up then all and out drives through you at the end of the first round. That would have been hard not to call him out on....Great job. Carl....
I don’t let those things bother me anymore… I focus on keeping it clean and avoid contact. Sometimes I drive defensive and make my car wide which invites a tap or 2.
Yeah it’s a bit funny but broadly it’s better to identify a marshal. Hi vis vest are the least of our cost worries
@@bluegroovemodelsports9650 Mark Buttle never tries to drive aggressively, I can tell you that in full confidence because that is my dad! Everyone messes up sometimes and he did just that, he had a bad day, we all have them, he was in no way trying to be aggressive, I can tell you that now
I wonder when fun left rc buggy racing? Probably when the health and safety because of insurance turned up……..high viz jackets (honestly🙄), one way system to get on the rostrum, and handing you buggy to scrutiny at the end………fun looks like it’s long departed😢
I would call it well organized. Still lots of fun.
With over 100 racers on the day and a lot of racing to squeeze in it needs to be organised and it ran like clockwork.
