    So I finally found a short shifter for my 59 F150 Flareside, in this video I will show you how to install it and whether or not it's worth spending $125.00 for it, they claim it will give you a 40% shorter shift then the stock one, it fits the Ford/Mazda 5 speed.

    7:02 GLAD you brought up the pin issue, you are the only one that mentioned this, I think the reason WHY your ping is slightly too big is because you got a SAE pin but need a Metric one

    *Finally ordered this shifter and got it today after doing my research. Just rewatched your video and plan to install tomorrow, not too happy about the tiny, and I do mean TINY shift ball included. I was wondering if you could make an updated video with the custom shift stick you made?*

    22:44 Putting grease where the pins go?? Most put loc tite on them where they won't fall out

    • @AintScaredGarage
      @AintScaredGarage  5 месяцев назад

      As for the pins, the top of the shifter has a lip on it that keeps them from falling out on the outside and the shifter itself keeps them falling out on the inside

    20:00 HOPE all that grease you packed in there DOESN'T get in the trans, MIXING TYPES of lube as different as that grease vs: trans fluid screws up the trans fluid, did the mfg tell you it is OK to pack that thing? Does the instructions state to do so.

    • @AintScaredGarage
      @AintScaredGarage  5 месяцев назад

      Well I've said it once and I'll say it again, sometimes I don't do what they tell me to so You should follow all instructions, frankly I don't even remember the instructions as this was a long time ago that I did the job, but the shifter is still great and I love it

    Quick question about that pin. Was that broken pin a solid pin or a "c" roll pin you pulled out?

    • @AintScaredGarage
      @AintScaredGarage  2 года назад

      It was solid, ill try to figure out what the correct size is, but what I got was stainless steel pins and I think they will be strong enough, I don't know if roll pins are strong enough

    What's a good asking price for our trucks? Have had a couple 10k offer's on mine. Wondering if it's worth selling.

    • @AintScaredGarage
      @AintScaredGarage  2 года назад +2

      10 Grand sounds like a good price, but I dont want to steer you wrong, the way I see it is, how much do YOU like the truck, is worth 10 Grand to you, if I'm offered 10 I would counter at oh I dont know, 12.5 and see what shakes out, if I was offered 10 G I might just sell, but I dont know, 10 G means I would then have the money to go look for a 59 F100 Project, and have the money to do the project, I like the 59 and would like to have one one day, so it comes down to what is it you want, is there another project that you always wanted, and could 10 G buy it and finance the project as well, these are the things I think of, so you got to do some serious thinking about how much you like the truck and what you would do with money if you sold it.
      I hope this helps you, that truck really looks nice, you did a great job on it.

    What is the benefit of a short shifter? I mean, I can see how how can select gears quicker, but IRL, you still have to wait for the revs to drop to engage the next gear...or you have excess synchro/gearbox/driveline/etc wear.
    It doesn't seem like it'd help me drive my truck any faster. It might help me drive _a friend's_ truck faster, provided he wasn't a real good friend to begin with.

    • @AintScaredGarage
      @AintScaredGarage  2 года назад

      If you like the long shift and see no advantage (and there may be no actual advantage to having a short shift) then it would be a total waste of time and money for you to do this, it's just a personal preference, I love the thing and the shift is so much more accurate (to me anyway) that I don't regret it one bit, But it's probably not for you.

    • @miketonon7946
      @miketonon7946 Год назад

      I mean, in my Ranger, when I shift, I hold the stick shifter at the gear I’m going to until it falls in. I don’t just stick it in immediately. This saves synchros. So does this shifter still easily allow for that?
