  • Can you drift an AUTOmatic transmission? We wanted to find out if drifting at automatic transmission is a good idea, or if it's even possible! We built this roadster Lexus GS300 as a budget build and wanted to use the auto transmission if it will work.

      They were both easy for me to learn to drive. I drove my manual right off the lot. Only it my first time driving, and that was because I forgot to take it out of gear before letting off the clutch, when I went to park it. 😅 noob mistake 😅 But the automatic I had was harder to drift, and it had more power then my manual both little v6 3.8 mustangs. The automatic just had a few mods on it, and still was weak, and took longer to get to 60mph compared to my less modified manual now I can just push in and release the clutch to drift it. I have no hand break it looks like it was ripped out the mounting points or bent, and torn, but I'll never go back to an automatic, unless I get a walled suv for audio which will be my trailblazer I've been neglecting, since I've got my manual. I parked it, and I haven't touched it since, and I let my BabyMomma drive my Pontiac vibe around. Tough little family car she's stalled it in water, and it still runs I don't know how many years later, with no hydrolock

    When the car starts to straighten out with the automatic you downshift, to upset traction. That's how you keep wheel speed up in an auto. Especially the a650e. Also for that small donut, modulating the brakes while on the throttle helps. The jzs160 has eshift on the steering wheel which would be cool to lock it into at least 2nd gear, but by the looks of it, that's been removed. Removing the ABS fuse or relay would really help as the automatic Lexus chassis, uses the abs to calculate wheel speed difference and interferes with the brakes and traction control yada yada yada. All in all, pretty easy to drift if you do it on the daily. I abuse my RS200 5AT on the regular. Just takes getting used to.

      Think of it like this you can't bump the car to get more angle that way because more then likely if your in an auto your in 2nd gear so would you personally downshift into 1st ? If you even reach 3rd gear unless your gears are really short in the rear your more then likely donuts in first and going sideways by hard on the steering and using a ebrake of some sort.

    I’ve got an Auto JZX110, and I’ve found using the handbrake doesn’t work as you’ve got no power off low rpm once you release the handbrake, so I’ve been keeping my right foot on throttle and using left foot brake stabs instead of clutch kick, and leaving the handbrake alone. Manual is way easier haha

    • @kuma9294
      @kuma9294 2 года назад

      Basically L,2,3,4 is essentially the gears you can keep it in. Not sure exactly if L is only 1st and 2nd but you can put the car in these lower gears to increase RPM’s on your car. As far as when you should change it, im not an expert so i can’t say for certain but I usually change out of low at 4-6k rpms and then move into 2 but take that with a grain of salt, as like i said im not expert.

      Yeah nah that’s a neutral drop and that’ll fuck stuff up real quick. You can get away with clutch kicking a manual but mechanically it’s way different from a neutral drop and the automatic won’t hold up.
