min 5.06 how i set my steering man ? i need for forza horizon :D springs how ?
What car is that
U riding
Hey man HR! I found a nice 350z convertible would that be a good starter? Not sure bout the convertible though. Tell me what you think?
It’s nice to see a legit, helpful video from you guys instead of the usual stuff 😅
should be able to drift my completely stock Miata now xD
Shit I rocked a stock miata for a good minute. I just hated the way it always wanted to snap back to natural position. Couldn't do any wide turns because of the short wheelbase. It got down and dirty though
Wyatt C yea bro it goes alright it's a rhd eunos roadster imported from Japan
My Miata loves to drift
As long as it came with an lsd and the ground is wet knock yourself out.
only on the downhill :D
I don't even have a license yet, im a kid, but this sure helps
try drifting your bmx bruh dont forget to record
@@capndubs6901 thats a good idea. But the problem is i bended my cranks while trying to nolie
I have a g29 and I plan on drifting for 6 years every day XD
Hell yeah that means you get to start early
@@arnavsingh674 i have a trailblazer speedlink and i have been drifting for almost 2 years on gt sport and a bit on project cars 2. Not every day but i have been drifting
I always over correct, I don’t understand how and when to use the clutch when doing this but I honestly just started to get into this scene.
Practice brother..find the perfect balance
Practice shit whipping thee whip SAFELY lmao. Control and learning what to do will naturally come to you. Biggest misconception is ppl think they need someone else to help them learn
just keep ur foot on the throttle and kick the clutch, or go right left right and you'll break loose. I over corrected one time and somehow corrected it again. I'll tell u what I definitely didn't expect it to snap back the other way so fast but somehow I caught it in time before I hit a curb or a car or some shit lol.
Practice in the dirt or snow, do some clutch kicks n shit (don't do them in the dry) and it should either send you to full steering lock or spin you out, sorta hard to over correct when you have no steering left.
all it takes is some practice, which is literally the most fun "practice" you can get, it teaches you how to be a better driver, in a way. How to drive past the limit
If you over correct you are holding on to the wheel too much and trying to drive the slide too much, like he said let go of the wheel, the car naturally wants to straighten out the tires, let it drive itself just a little more than you allow
I've got first gear more or less figured out in my car (S15)....but gosh, trying to master 2nd gear is a whole different ball game if you don't have a safe track to practice on.
“Also, the other thing… obviously super important.”
Lol, I like this guy. (:
Cool video. Good tips for starters from someone deep in the sport.
Can you make a video explaining how you setup your R34 for different FD Tracks? Where you explain tire pressure, spring rates, alignments and so on
Pimp Speed yes we will make one ! - aaron/haugenracing
A wise man once said “Get out and dRive” :)
Dope video, rock on
This video is great! I am right at the intermediate point you were mentioning, and the information in this video really resonates with me and I can't wait to use these tips to step up my game! Much love and beautiful car!
Thank you! Be sure to watch our other how to drift videos too! And if you ever need help just hit us up
Loved the videooo! I started "drifting" years ago with my truck on grass and wet asphalt nowadays I don't have a car but I'm training in my phone with drive x drift and I'm loving it! Thank you for the tips!
Everytime it rains I hit that lot for some donuts hahaha
to bad they put speedbumps
@@15breeze3 only on the first 2 warehouse buildings. The last one doesnt have them still
Where is that warehouse at?
Best way to drift without breaking $$$$ on tires
No better practice than to get out and do it yourself great tips feel like I knew a lot of them. Never really had a rear wheel drive too drift let alone a safe place to practice 😥
A lot of information in this video. I’m learning and what you said definitely went over my head. I’m getting a new GR86 to drift and I don’t know a thing about drifting but it does look fun when you do it correctly.
Far this helped so much I clutch kick and I didnt understand the use of a hand brake till now thanks man
i only get to drift ice snow and wet roads because i only have pickup trucks and awd cars but i have been telling my friends basically the same things about wheel alignment suspension setup and tire traction all has to be matched to your engine power levels and when set right you don't need 500hp. thank you for validation. also i did learn a couple new things about braking which you can't use brakes very much in slick conditions i end up steering the vehicle with the throttle but when i get my s13 put together i will be practicing.
You cant ask for a better video, outstanding !!! for a beginners like me thanks !!!!
Awesome tips, my car is almost finished and i need to brush up on my skills, definitely recommending this video to my subs!
Mezzarino lol dude I was going to send this video to you and then read the comments and here you are 😂😂
Matt is the most talented drift driver out there. Love watching you race! Keep up the great work.
Thanks for this Brother 👍✌️
It’s got that old skate tips and tricks style good shit homie.
I was thinking this right as he mentioned grip at 3:30, then I seen your comment.
Damn it man 🤣
Thanks for the tips mate! Maybe we will do battle on the track one day.
Might be my new favourite channel
Thank you very much for the vid brother, most detailed drift vid i’ve seen. 👌
No problem 👍 Glad to hear it's helpful!!!!
Thanks for this video!! You reassured me of a few things I was maybe worrying too much about, and dispelled some myths that a lot of local guys like to tote as truths/rules. BIG ups for sharing your knowledge!
Hey that is so cool to hear! I’m glad we were able to help. I hope we won your subscription 🙏.

Haugen Racing hell yeah subbed last week when I first found you guys! I got a lot of catching up to do on your content but yeah so great aha love the vids so far.
Awesome to hear! Welcome to the family man
Thanks for the best videos on drifting. Is it possible that you can break down each step by using the physics of what is happening to the car when you do whatever maneuver. Understanding physics may make it easier for me to understand better
Saw ur car on FB first time seeing your vids. Awesome shit n your car gave me some inspiration
Right now I can only ice drift cause I have an 03 f-150 stock but I’m pretty good at it if I do say so myself. I can do long drifts, donuts, drifts around light poles. RWD too so it’s pretty easy in the winter. But I have a 1991 BMW 3-Series lined up to buy so I’m gonna do everything you said and see how she goes
Great vid thanks!!
Outro cracked me tf up 😂😂
These are great tips! I'm trying to get into the sport myself and these help so much!
Thank you for your responce . Wish you well
Really nice!
absolutely loving the handbreak mod with the katana. i got the exact same one in the closet lol
ya when i noticed the handbrake was a sword i was like thats awesome lol
Hello and thank you for this amazing and and instructive video. I have a big dilemma and please help me clarify it.
Why when I initiate a drift in a left turn after the countersteer, the steering wheel suddenly turns to the left, thus canceling the countersteer and the car is suddenly turned to the right?
What do I need to do to stop this from happening? Thank you in advance!
Congrats and keep up the good working!
Love this video!
Best beginner drift video I’ve seen. I’ve been drifting for a while and this was still very helpful
Great video
Solid video
Can you make a video you showing how to drift in your car. Ill start working on my 240sx soon. Nice vid.
Im gon take the camber out the rear and pump up the PSI! I love the videos man
Glad to hear we could be of help! That’s awesome man
Dude that self steer thing opened my eyes
Ur car is CLEAN 🔥🔥
Can you do a video regarding "mistakes" and how to correct them and how to fix them in the moment.
“A genesis coupe is very hard to drift”. Everyone in the takeover scene: “Is that a challenge”
Hahaha this comment has me dieing
LMFAO I subscribed at 15:00 great vid though but end was best
This video felt loooong. And I don't mean that as an insult or a nod to it being boring. It just felt like so much info, packed really really good and straight to the point that it feels you watched a half hour video. At least for me, just getting started on understanding how cars work, it felt like that. Brilliant work! I would subscribe again
FINALLY someone else explaining that grip is vital. Too often i see guys running super hard tires, over inflating, with welded diffs 🤦♂️.
I think the biggest thing i see in newbies is late entries. Its a bit nervous to point the front of the car before you reach the turn.
Ya but some of us have low HP cars so inflating rears helps a bit with breaking loose.
I get that. I started drifting in a stock 1.6 miata and my buddy was running a turbo miata. There were absolutely times when I couldn't follow him out of the exits, eslecily after a long sweeper.
But. The importance of early entry and feeling what it's like to really push a car without screwing up the drivability teaches you how to catch the chaos for when you build with more power. So I'd say don't completely screw up your setup, increase your entry speed, and throw it hard and early.
Then when you add power you're only change will be throttle control.
Ayeee this was a pretty good video playboy
Love ur vid
The endscreen🤣🤣💙👍
Hey thanks for sharing this! I was wondering, have you drifted on a sim rig, specifically Assetto Corsa? I was wondering how similar the sim is to the real deal and what might be some key differences besides the accelerations you feel.
It feels actually really similar, other than not feeling the g forces and being pushed back into your seat if course
good video brother!
This videos cool and all but if you really want to learn how to drift then go out there and try it. Practice makes perfect!
Very good
Great video, I was trying to teach my Dad to drift my e30 and he couldn't let go of the steering wheel, he said it felt wrong. I am 14 years old and I don't know how to not let go of the wheel. :)
I have seen you drifting on your channel Max, You are awesome, cant believe you are only 14 and can drive like that.
Thanks @@andyjohnson5545
That's because your not suppose to let go of the wheel
We must have different teaching styles @@Seanr31. That's what we teach in the uk.
Of course you need to let go of the wheel @@Seanr31 , unless you got rubber arms 😂
So we have a V6 grand Vitara it's powerful and it drift easily but I have a problem I'm not fast at steering like when I go on a corner you steer the other way right
When I do that it them goes the way you steered and then you have to straighten out
My problem is I'm slow so help me
Some more info on the katana hand brake please:) very nice
That skyline is fire
Thanks!!!
About to start drifting my Rx8 after months of putting things to it
Tight video man. U kinda look like the explosion dude from hot rod haha
Thanks I guess? Lol
Delinte d7 tunder baby 😁
my ball joints busted out my lower control arms tonight sliding and I ended up finding your channel trying to figure out how to fix it
It's been a whole year, I hope you got it fixed man.

u the man bro
I have a fuck ton of seat time on Assetto Corsa. First time drifting irl I was able to hold a drift easily including a manji
that car hits me weird i love the color scheme
Thanks dawg!!!
last one so true!
Can you make a video talking about sway bars
Great video, but please get a stabilizer for your cameraman or do it post production
Line is everything
You by chance based out of Nashville TN Matt?

Host: "My Names Rico and I like to party"
Lol omg 🤣
I just climbed out from under my car to ask this but you really love Achilles 123? I used ATR sport 2 and it was worst tire I've used in front and back
The 123S is a totally different tire. But I used it for years and absolutely loved it. One of the highest grip and smokiest tires out there. Also never delaminates or blows up and can run them until they’re smooth. Never really tried the ATR sport 2 tbh.
what's the intro song, guys?
hi Matt Haugen
my name is Dawit( DAVE) am not only big fun of drifting ,but ,also i was a car racer at 1800cc 140 - 150 hp category in A country called ERITREA .i know very little about drifting , but i want to know more so that i can teach my kids to be better than what i am.
my question is
can my car be good enough for drifting (vw golf gti 1800 139bhp front wheel) if so
what are the technics
what can i maintain or improve to make my car a better one
thank you very much.peace
Hey Dawit! So front wheel drive is really the one thing that’s going to make drifting incredibly difficult with that vehicle. Not that you can’t have some fun and slide it around but a drift car really needs to be rear wheel drive. Low power, compact, and light weight are all just fine for drifting. The only issue is front wheel drive
what the song to the intro
Hello, thank you for the video.
Last week i did my first event, didn't go as planned. (Couldn't use 2nd gear, i wonder if it's my driving or car related)
As right now with my original arms in the rear i can't zero-out my camber, can't really change them here if i want to keep my car road legal.
I tried upping PSI to around 50 in the rear on my 225/45/17's Hankooks but still too much grip... Do you have any recommendations for me?
If you want to you can check my latest video, you'll see what i mean.
Thanks again.
INSANE TV were you clutch kicking hard enough? and is your diff welded? - aaron/haugenracing
@@ForeignConnectImports not really clutch kicking, im kinda scared to brake things on my first drift car haha it costs so much. The car has a 3.15 welded diff yes.
I usually hate the way r32s look, but this one is very sexy 👍🏾
This is so fucking helpful
is that a frickin katana handbrake that's awesome
Dear sir how mach need hp
1:38 Loading .... Yes , the the air is made out of air here =P
I think drifters look at the street like skateboarders look at the streets, testing the angles and seeing what is possible to do under circumstances.
1. sending it too hard
2. not sending it hard enough
3. not expecting to slide when you actually do
4. expecting to slide when you actually don't
5. not enough counter steer
6. too much counter steer
yea there's a fine line but once you get it it's not really that hard tbh
if you want a challenge try drifting something with less than 150 hp
but drifting is one of the most fun things u can do with ur car
and the best ways to enter the corner are with a feint entry, or Scandinavian flick, and the clutch kick
I try not to clutch kick too much because my drivetrain isn't built for that type of abuse, but in the dirt, snow and rain it's pretty lit.
but the Scandinavian flick works with any car, even fwd
and surprisingly, Miatas have pretty good steering angle stock, I remember going to full steering lock peeling out of a dirt parking lot (literally left my friend in the dust lol) and it went pretty damn sideways. if I floored it any harder I would've spun out n looked like a dumbass
I've only spun out trying to manji, for some reason it's pretty hard for me
katana hand brake...😍
what anime is that girl from on the front
Please do some low power car mods video to make it easier
What I got from this video was trial and error. Would practicing in dirt and snow help?
michael scoulfeild I’m from MN I can say that it’s a lot easier to do it on snow
Zachary Elder agreed. It’s also much easier on the tires. If it’s bad snow it’s like driving on super bald tires in the rain and you get no knowledge from it. But it definitely is easier
How would I go about getting into the sport?
Watch our other how to drift video’s man! We talk about this and we have some new video’s coming soon covering more on the topic as well
Do u drift at the Tucson track?
Yes he does
Naild al of those parts, am I a pro drifter now?
