I think they removed it, because SV has terrible performance. In PLA, shinies didn't despawn until you left the larger zone. When they appeared, they stayed no matter where you went within that zone. You could fly or run by one, and as long as you didn't scare it off, it would be there after you made or bought Poké Balls, made Sticky Globs, got the right team to fight, etc. In SV, you move just as fast, but the shinies will despawn as soon as you move far enough away from it. So if you're on Koraidon, and you hear a shiny sound effect, you may not respond quickly enough to turn around before you despawn it. If the fact that you missed one shiny (or more) doesn't ruin traversal in SV, being anxious that you _could_ miss one just by getting too close to a town would. And SV can't handle spawning in a whole overworld of Pokémon or having a much larger spawn/despawn range, because it's a terribly developed game in that respect. So it might be better to never know you missed a shiny in the first place than to miss one and know it. That said, if they could have made a better performing game, they probably would have left the shiny sound effect in. But they couldn't, so they didn't. That's my theory, at least. And given Game Freak isn't very good at that part of game development, I prefer that decision here.

Probably just nostalgia and my particular kind of neurodivergence or something but I completely agree. I was very pleasantly surprised, still don't like how it looks much though lol.
My friends actually hate Pokémon music, they think it’s awful. So when they used to play Pokémon they played with the music off. Also they think most Shinies look like garbage
I actually play with volume off. It's not bad, just very repetitive, especially wild encounter music. The only exception is the battle against Wally in ORAS
Agreed, honestly. Definitely not what we were used to, but I honestly found it fun, and I really do wish I could get more mileage out of my Poké Ball Plus than what's currently possible. I don't even use it with GO anymore because I have the objectively superior GO Plus +.
I think people hate Fire/Fighting only because Blaziken, Infernape and Emboar are coming after each other. We technically had 2 Fire/Ghost starters in a row, yet nobody complaining or asking to not make next Fire starter with a Ghost-type
I think one of them being a regional form instead of a new species helps in this case. Also, Fire/Fighting has kinda set the bar now. It'll take at least three consecutive Fire/Ghost starters to really rile anyone up.
For me it's just the fact they re-use ANY types. I mean there are so many starter type-combos we haven't had yet. Why keep going back to Fighting, Ghost, Dark, etc. We could have a Grass/Electric or a Fire/Bug or a Water/Rock, or swap any of those around. I'm sure there's still a few other types we haven't had yet, plus ones we've only had on one type before. Like Poison or Psychic hell even Flying.
@@Gohka Eh, I'm cool with them reusing some types sometimes. Took them three tries to make the best Fire/Fighting-type, after all, clearly practice makes perfect. That being said, hell yes give me a Fire/Poison starter. Or any Poison starter, really, we haven't had one since friggin' Bulbasaur.
I won't deny Festival Plaza had its own charm, but charm can only do so much for such a clunky and unintuitive online feature. And yeah, you starting with Ultra Moon means you didn't experience the PSS in X/Y/OR/AS, which is widely regarded among the community as the absolute pinnacle of Pokémon online functionality. That's a hard act to follow, and when they tried to follow it up with Festival Plaza... yeah. On paper, trying to combine the PSS with Join Avenue (a Gen 5 feature that was also widely liked) sounds like a genius move, but the execution flopped like a Magikarp.
Facts, at least as a casual player Fog was kind of interesting from a vibe/world building standpoint. Still hated it but kind of in a good way overall. No different really from needing flash for dark caves. Annoying but kind of made sense and you remembered to carry it with you. Maxing is just stupid looking as has always been stupid looking. I get Pokemon is a kids franchise but I didn’t feel “babied” by Pokemon when I was a kid. Maxing feels like some 5 year olds in the playground getting together and thinking “Welllll what if my Charizard could transform into giant big Charizard?! Like Godzilla but Charizard!” *Monster noises* Not a fan of the concept, at least Z moves where mostly forgettable and boring not an atrocity like Maxing 😂
@comics4556 yeah i fully agree. Like i am actively aware of the Hoopa movie being awful but it at least has some enjoyable factors and a good concept for the Mon it's based around. The Keldeo one is just Shaymin And The Sky Warrior but really bad. There were so many ways they could've made a Keldeo movie go, but they randomly decided to throw Kyurem in there as well for some reason and the entire thing fell apart.
@@Blastosie_Offical well I can assume why Kyreum was there solely because that movie came out the same year bw2 was released since it also showed us the black and white forms but other than that the movie really did my favorite mythical dirty…like not even shaymin was that annoying 💔💔💔
I actually DO miss Dynamax. Was it better than Mega Evolution? No, but it was still REALLY cool, the Max Moves were a good counter to Pokémon with moves like Protect, and many designs were very nice, too. Terastallization is nice, but it isn't really overwhelmingly cool, and while I think Mega Evolution was cooler than Dynamax, it was a bummer that only a select few Pokémon could actually Mega Evolve. Z-moves were kinda cool, but... Still rather underwhelming, not to mention both it AND Mega Evolution takes up an item. Mega Evolution makes it worthwhile, but it's still a noticeable downer. I think Dynamax was a happy medium, in that there were cool designs, giving a counter to Protect, every Pokémon could Dynamax, even though the normal Dynamaxing isn't as cool as Dynamax forms, and no held item was needed. Like the best out of everything before it.
A lot of the battle related things are actually kinda funny because I disagree as a VGC player but agree as a casual Pokemon enjoyer. Things like dynamax being much healthier and more balanced than megas but less cool and interesting, the dex being cut actually giving more Pokémon opportunities to shine in early metas, etc
I love the satire of Alex’s videos. His comment about the fire fighting starter did make me curious and i can’t believe black and white came out 12 years ago

I'm glad that it happened because I'd have been forced to catch that shiny which was in the process of running away from me!" Also: "I'm so glad there isn't a tell for shiny Pokémon anymore!"
5:29 I'm gonna have to unironically say that forcing you to trade some mons for evolution was great back in the day, it made playing with your friends and that stupid link cable, as a kid back in those days, it forced me to socialize with others and make friends, it was fun. Doesn't work much nowadays but... It was a good concept to some extent
90% of these are accurate, i would say. There were some takes that had me saying "well, kinda, but that's not the point," or "not really?" As an example: "Cynthia is the worst champion, so boring." I'm not a fan of how over hyped Cynthia is, both in game and from the players. She is the Charizard of champions. Another example, "7 star raids were way too easy." It's not an issue that they're easy or difficult, it's that multiplayer raids hardly function properly. That's the only thing i can say is better with dynamax dens over terra raids, even though they're not as popular for quite a few reasons, at least they functioned as intended. Overall, 9/10 video, i hope you take my words as constructive criticism and not me being a jerk :)

I was actually watching to see if I didn't agree with anything, and finally at the VERY end I did- I prefer random encounters over seeing them in the wild
Probably just nostalgia and my particular kind of neurodivergence or something but I completely agree. The overworld encounters are better suited for the spinoff games that they stopped making for some reason. In my mind the games were always primary, Anime secondary, Manga third place. So the idea or basically making the Anime into a game is cool for sure and is what they’re heading towards. I just think that should have been branded as something other than the “mainline” games.
4:45 this was the so true I love Ash’s Boldore he’s easily in my top 15 but I feel like no one unironically has Boldore as their favorite
Not me being actually invested in Pokémon Sleep 😭
2:55 Nah bro that hit me the worst💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
I only miss Dyanamax because I have nostalgia for Gen 8, so I’m biased towards anything regarding Gen 8.
Tbh same
Same, I legitimately love gen 8 and mega evolution has gotten kinda overrated in the past few years imo
Still definitely wouldn't mind a mega Flygon, tho
2015 AuraGaurdian type video love to see it
I have a great example of something nobody would ever say:
"I like Crabominable"
Funny to hear you say that. I actually really like my Shiny Crabominable with Anger Point. It WRECKS in Double Battles if you know how to take advantage of its strengths. I'm not kidding when I say I've beaten a Flutter Mane in Ranked Play with it 0_0
@@stopduty2009 But do you like how it looks haha? I think we've all had Pokémon that turned out to surprise us with how good they are in battle. For me it was Garbodor, I hated the look of it and had always avoided using it because I thought no way a mon that ugly could be any good. I was very pleasantly surprised, still don't like how it looks much though lol.
"Y'know who he should've ended up with?"
Lemme guess, some obscure character.
"Jessie."
💀
My friends actually hate Pokémon music, they think it’s awful. So when they used to play Pokémon they played with the music off. Also they think most Shinies look like garbage
Most shinies are kinda crap, especially the ones that just turn the pokemon some kind of green or just a very slight colour change.
I actually play with volume off. It's not bad, just very repetitive, especially wild encounter music. The only exception is the battle against Wally in ORAS
Modern Pokémon music blows hard! It's a cacophony of random noises without a theme.
@@scrittlecan you give me some examples? I’m curious
Your friends don’t got good taste unfortunately also I agree on the shiny part
What’s the best normal type? Oh! Easily watchog!
I miss sword and shield and i miss dynamax, i miss zacian
This is real
Came because the thumbnail, I am indeed the one in a krillion you were searching for.
I thought the catching in let's go was pretty fun with the pokeball plus(once you figured out the correct way to swing tho)
Agreed, honestly. Definitely not what we were used to, but I honestly found it fun, and I really do wish I could get more mileage out of my Poké Ball Plus than what's currently possible. I don't even use it with GO anymore because I have the objectively superior GO Plus +.
"I'm glad they rewrote Lusamine in USUM, she's a much better written character this way."
4:57 y'all are addicted to gambling if you want it bac
“When I said that Vaporeon was my favorite Pokémon on the internet, everyone was so wholesome about it!”
Dawg, dynamax was literally the only thing stopping urshifu💀
Also megas we're absolute cheeks for competitive

Shiny Hunters Never say: Let’s Sleep
I think people hate Fire/Fighting only because Blaziken, Infernape and Emboar are coming after each other.
We technically had 2 Fire/Ghost starters in a row, yet nobody complaining or asking to not make next Fire starter with a Ghost-type
I think one of them being a regional form instead of a new species helps in this case. Also, Fire/Fighting has kinda set the bar now. It'll take at least three consecutive Fire/Ghost starters to really rile anyone up.
plus Chandelure
@@Lucasloureiro2006 Litwick isn't a starter though.
Real title " things the Pokemon company like "
For me the Plaza might actually be nostalgic, my first game was ultra moon
@@IAmMissingnoMaster I agree, And just like Dark Magician decks, nostalgic doesn’t mean GOOD.
“Porygon deserved to be removed from the anime, we can’t get rid of the mascot.”

“Man, I’m so glad the jet ball from PLA bounces off trees which are 4500km away from where I was aiming!”
7:16 they straight up do though. Pokemon is already slow as hell, I’ve definitely saved multiple hours of my time with them off
"fog was the best mechanic"
dynamax:🗿
Like Godzilla but Charizard!” *Monster noises*
Not a fan of the concept, at least Z moves where mostly forgettable and boring not an atrocity like Maxing 😂
Hoopa And The Clash Of Ages is my favourite movie tho
Definitely better than the genesect movie or whatever that trash was
@@zinniaq3020that’s a very odd way to say the Keldeo movie
Definitely way better than the Giratina and the sky warrior garbage
"Man the elemental monkeys were some of the best pokemon in all of Unova. Why didn't they make more of these?"
4:17
Ironically, I do agree.
This video caused me immense physical and emotional pain
wonderful job!!!
I actually miss Dynamax
Things Pokémon Players ALWAYS say “TheAuraGuardian is great!”
0:26 I’m not gonna lie I genuinely feel this way. I joined Pokémon post-SwSh don’t judge me.
A brother!
"I like how there are no good physical electric moves, luxray would have been way to over powered otherwise"
Dropped luxray in my diamond playthrough cause it's move pool fucking sucks, can't remember who I replaced it with though
2:18 I’ve actually heard people say this irl and it burns my soul…
(Bonus points for immediately following this with the best Route Theme)
Im so happy mindy traded me a haunter holding an everstone! thats so nice of her!
You are the one bozo in this world that likes that Mechanic
I can't believe my man included Palworld into this xD That came otta left field, I didn't expect that!
I actually miss Dynamax and love BDSP ( DPP was still better )
Playing Pokémon with the music off really got to me, well done
A lot of the battle related things are actually kinda funny because I disagree as a VGC player but agree as a casual Pokemon enjoyer. Things like dynamax being much healthier and more balanced than megas but less cool and interesting, the dex being cut actually giving more Pokémon opportunities to shine in early metas, etc
This.
I love the satire of Alex’s videos. His comment about the fire fighting starter did make me curious and i can’t believe black and white came out 12 years ago
I actually thought it was longer ago when they came out haha. Considering we're only what, 3 years away from Red/Blue/Green being 30 years old.
We did get a new Firefighting type recently in Unite ;)
Yep, I’m getting old.
7:51 An addition/contrast: "Man, I'm so glad that Pokémon's hitbox suddenly grew massive and pulled me forcibly into a battle when I was nowhere near it! I'm glad that it happened because I'd have been forced to catch that shiny which was in the process of running away from me!"
Also: "I'm so glad there isn't a tell for shiny Pokémon anymore!"
Something Pokemon fans NEVER say is "Pokemon XY was a good series" and "Greninja's tongue noose looks good."
There were some takes that had me saying "well, kinda, but that's not the point," or "not really?"
As an example: "Cynthia is the worst champion, so boring." I'm not a fan of how over hyped Cynthia is, both in game and from the players.
What’s funny is i have said the first few things unironically, i do think pokemon scarlet and violet is pretty, and i think bdsp is good.
The amount of blasphemy said in this video is enough to awaken the ancient cosmic horror from its slumber.
6:10 honestly though "surprise trade" makes way more sense
1:37 I literally have the DVD 2 feet away from me XD
1:47 - I've actually seen people say this and honestly? I agree. ILCA did a decent job with BDSP but now they have more game development experience I think they could do a genuinely great job!
I really don't get the hate for BDSP tbh. They were decent remakes and were graphically stunning in some areas like Floroma Town.
@@dangerbuffrocky I agree!

"I actually think Quiladin fits in with the other two perfectly, and the name shouldn't have the Ches- motif the others had."
Fr though. While Palworld has some designs that look quite similar to Pokemon, it's the exception and not the rule. The game does have some amazing Pal designs. Honestly one of the best games I've played in the last few years.
AuraGuardian is on the seething side of the Nintendrone spectrum, who wants to fight for a giant anti-consumer company despite Palworld's success overwhelmingly potentially forcing Gamefreak to up their game.
May I remind you that Pokémon is the top grossing gaming IP, they have no excuse.
@@scrittle How unfortunate, after watching Aura for so many years. If this game released on the Switch and appeared in an official Direct, Nintendrones would be singing a different tune lol.
play Ark Survival instead, atleast it's original unlike a lot of Palworld designs
@@theamazingspooderman2697 Ah yes, the battle pass grindy game where you constantly bare witness to your optimised dino getting killed and being forced to retrain it all over again from scratch.
No. Thanks. I'd rather play a fun game than a chore. Like this review states: "I played nearly 500 hours but only remember exactly a 10 minute interaction I had 6 years ago "
@@theamazingspooderman2697 Like how every 2D platformer is a Mario clone? Or every open-world crime simulator is a GTA clone? No thanks, lol. Palworld is a good game, and for every inspired design, there's 5 more that are more "original" by your standards. Palworld is a good game, no one who dislikes it says anything about the core gameplay, they just follow what their favorite anecdotal crybaby RUclipsr says on Twitter. People just have to say "it's not my thing" and that be it, but they have to attack it to defend Pokemon (a series mind you, that these Nintendrones would originally bash because their new titles are so mediocre, but now forget about that) and their petty pride.
"I'm so glad the battle frontier won't appear anymore"
This hurts
I agree about ILCa and having them make the next remake! Yeah, I was being sarcastic.
I actually want to see them make another Pokémon game, unironically and in all seriousness, because I think they should be given a chance to prove they can learn from their past mistakes. BDSP was the first time they made a whole-ass game. Of course there were gonna be issues along the way.
@@IAmMissingnoMaster Considering it was their first game I think BDSP are pretty remarkable, they are way overhated.
@@friendlyotaku9525 they are better than original DP for me, the fact that u don't have to force yourself to bring a HM slave (bcz more than 4 moves are required to cross the Victory Road) is a big W for me, Sneasel can be caught with Ice Punch in its moveset in BDSP in Grand Underground as well which is another W bcz it doesn't learn that normally
