Cambodian Food Tour in Siem Reap!

- Another souvenir from my latest trip to Asia, sorry took a while to get it out to you! I finally made it to Cambodia. I went with an intention to see Angkor Wat, but I was almost more excited to experience the cuisine. Cambodia and Thailand have access to the same ingredients and share very similar roots, so I was very interested to see in what ways the two cuisines are similar and different.
I was so lucky to have a wonderful tour guide, Sam of SR Group, because he himself is a foodie, and happens to also be a fan of Hot Thai Kitchen! Obviously, we had no shortage of great food during this trip. Hope you enjoy the video and thank you for watching!

Finally someone shows people with disabilities on their videos. Thank you so much. I also am disabled although I'm not confined to a wheelchair, I do have trouble getting around, and it's so refreshing to see that yes even though I may be disabled I still am alive and want to experience this beautiful world of ours. Thanks so much for including your wonderful friends and also thanks to your tour guide for having accommodations for wheelchairs.
You're welcome! My friend Byron is one of the most incredible human beings. He's a Paralympian and a world traveler. He doesn't let anything stop him from living life to the fullest, and his wife (the girl in the video) is always by his side supporting him. I also really appreciate Sam's effort to find that accessible tuk tuk, which wasn't easy to come by. Thank you for your heart felt message and I hope you get to see so many beautiful places in the world!
I am Cambodian and was very excited to see that you visited my country! I took a trip with my parents a few years ago (I immigrated to the US at a young age and I was born in the Thailand refugee camp). It was a very humbling experience to see my country and I felt the heartache my parents felt during the Pol Pot regime. Thanks for the video and a little taste of home!
Thank you for this. As a Khmer in the US and trying to explain the difference between Khmer food and Thai food, both you and the chef explained the subtleties perfectly. I'm so happy you enjoyed your trip. Keep up the good work!
When the energy is right, you’ll be in the company of great people. How cool to meet your guide early on. Everything looks sooooo delicious. I want it all!

The part of India I come from, has a similar dish where we cook marinated shrimp or lobster stuffed inside a young coconut, mixed with all its flesh and juices ... yum !

I’m so happy you went to Cambodia! My favorite is the fish and tamarind sauce. My mom makes it spicy and id think you’d like that! My whole family eats amok, but I’m the only one who doesn’t like it lol I wish I did! There’s so much other Khmer food you should try like Prahok Ktiss and Kathew which is like Pho but broth is different.
Great video. Siem Reap is one of my favourite travel destinations. I would have like to see you try the Khmer version of Som Tam which is known as Bok Lahong. The first time I tried a papaya salad was in Siem Reap and its become my "go to" side dish when eating Thai.
Thank you for coming to Cambodia ❤️
Delicious food..great experience. :)
Nice humble guy great chef from Cambodia he keeps on doing good work ,I know him from face book ,it has been ongoing time I have out of fb . deffinately would like to meet these guys one day.
So excited to see you in Siem Reap, the place that I love and have been there for 5 times. I have tasted Nom Ban Chok and Amok and found that they were delicious in the way of lighter spiciness than we have in Thailand. You may try Banh Chaew(ขนมเบื้อง), my favourite dish as it easy to eat and flavorful.
Last time I went there was last year and I was surprised that I had found Thai dishes in Cambodian Restaurant's menu such as Pad Kaprao, Som Tam, Tom Yam. I had tasted them and they were almost the same we have in Thailand.
Do not miss to try "Sawasdee" Thai restaurant by Thai owner. The real Thai tastes are waiting there for you Pai.
wow you have been to my country. been your fan for a long time.yesterday i tried you sum tam recipe.and it was yummy
Omg!! All Look so yummy...😱😊
Great stream. I truly like these streams
Delicious food. Thanks for sharing.
Man you were so close to me! I live in Battambang, Cambodia (two hours away from Siem Reap). It looks like you had a lot of speciality food while you were there. The orange noodle curry and whole fish were the only things I recognized; those are more common day to day foods. Hope you had a good time while you were there!
Welcome to Cambodia,Pai!
Lots of Love
Hey I'm so surprised that I didn't know you have made the video tour to siem reap with my friend Sam. I have been subscribe to your channel years a go.
Welcome to Cambodia 🇰🇭 ❤️
Great video! I went to Cambodia last year and *loved* the food. I've been trying to find a good recipe for fish amok - maybe that could be a new recipe on Pai's Kitchen! :D
Good Amok Trei recipes are hard to find. My recipe is an old printed version and its great but I cannot see it on the internet, otherwise I would have been able to send you the link. oh well.
Thank you and welcome to my country Pailin
