    So inspired by you! My work tends to look overdone, whereas yours is a work of art!

    Your work is beautiful. I have found that I often don't do 'enough' and when I do more, the page just looks messy. Unlike yours!

      I get that …. Not enough. Then too messy. However this ::: I think that means you need to keep going…🙃🙂🙃🙂🙃 I know ‼️ but. try. it. ‼️ repeat colors & marks, maybe …. Keep Going ‼️🌸

      It takes a little practice and connection with your intuition to figure out when you should stop and how you should go with a surface. I always like to ask myself- would I be sad or disappointed if I "went too far" and covered things up or lost some of my favorite elements by adding too much. If the answer is yes, I always stop and visit that surface another day!

    Love your style. I also like gluing down scraps of paper, junk mail envelopes (the insides are interesting patterns), plus ads from advertisers, wrapping paper, etc. Putting my art work over it is interesting. I leave a page and come back to it and it looks different. ❤️

    I love this inspiration! I’ve been following you for a couple of years now. I’ve started several composition book journals with your tutorials. When you prepare an art journal from a hard cover book, do you tear out some pages or glue any pages together? Or do you just start painting like in the comp notebooks?

    • @alisakburke
      @alisakburke  7 месяцев назад

      It really depends on the journal or the book and how many pages are in it, the binding etc. But yes, sometimes I will tear pages out (and then add those pages to my collage stash) to open up up space in a journal. Depending on the techniques and supplies that you use, any journal will start to build up and get thick and bulky so it can help to pull pages out. Sometimes I will glue pages together so I have a more stable surface for lots of layers. But then there are other times when I just start creating on all of the pages!

    Does Mod Podge make your pages stick together?

    • @alisakburke
      @alisakburke  7 месяцев назад +1

      They will not stick if you use a matte finish. The satin or gloss Mod Podge will cause those pages to stick together but you can use deli paper in between those spreads to keep things from sticking.

    May I ask, what brand of acrylic do you use?

    • @alisakburke
      @alisakburke  7 месяцев назад +2

      I will use just about anything when I am working in my art journal. I love the Apple Barrel acrylic paint or the Dick Blick acrylic paint for a lower priced paint. I just always make sure that I am using a matte finish of acrylic paint. This ensures my art journal pages won't stick together!

      @@alisakburke That makes so much sense! I've always found it frustrating when the pages stick together. That's one of the reasons I started using acryla gouache instead. Thank you so much for responding, you're an amazing person to make time for your followers! I hope your having a spectacular week!!!!
      Thanks again!! ❤️ ❤️
