This is one of my top Lupe songs too! I can never understand why people dont give Lupe the cred he deserves especially considering how much is given to Kendrick. Im not knocking on Kdot, but Lupe was first and Lupe was and is better as far as lyrical content, themes, and message. I credit Lupe Fiasco for returning me to rap cause after Nas, Jay Z, and other rappers of that era, rap just became all about materialistic and meaningless crap. Dont let the lack of views deter you. You are one of only two reactors that I know who dares to swim in the deep end.
Nah views don’t matter for lu vids. It’s a passion protect. I would say it’s probably because he was unashamedly nerdy and had a kind of playful swag about him that was not popular at the time. Gotta remember what was mainstream when he broke through. He got to where he was at by sheer talent. Kendrick raps with a lot of substance but still raps like he’s from the hood about hood topics. Lupe never did so his skater/anime/Japanese flair didn’t connect as much as Kendrick. But Lupe clearly paved the way for new rappers to open up about less hood cliche things
TheThirdErnest -same. And I just wanna tell you that you do an amazing job. You pick up a lot of things most listeners don’t catch and you deliver it in a clear and understandable way. So thank you for being someone us Lupe fans can enjoy his art with 💕 your videos are dope af
Bokkie Sensei - welcome to Lupe Land ❤️ it’s hard being a Lupe fan, go to Harvard to be a Lupe Stan 💕 (Lyrics from SLR 2) That’s one of my favorite songs by Lupe. Actually all of lupes songs are my fave lol
@@Angela-219 Omahgawsh thanks for that, listened, and loved already :D. I've been going through his Lasers Album, the flows and rhymes and delivery of this man is legendary, honestly. Gonna go through every song, like i did Eminem, NF, Tom Macdonald, Joyner. List goes on, but ill sit here whole day listing them haha
The passion is dope.Lupe fiasco clearly taught you and alot of us to deep dive into the lyrics and it dont matter how many times youve heard his songs a decade later you can still find gems in his lyrics
That’s what I’m saying man. Lupe is the sole reason I am as good as I am at lyrical comprehension. The dudes writing can and should be studied American poetry and literature classes
TheThirdErnest everything about the album is amazing to even the artwork which he painted. Not only that but the fact that Anonymous is the reason why we have this album lol. It’s incredible. I felt like it got overlooked cause TPAB did dropped that same year
One of my favorites from Lupe. Also, I've always thought it might be a stretch, but I thought Deliver has three meanings: 1. Pizza delivered 2. Baby delivered 3. De-liver (removal of liver: the necessary organ for digestion and growth) It's even crazier when you tie the significance of the song into T&Y (backwards) which is essentially his autobiography. Like the pizza places, Lupe stayed away from the ghetto lifestyle despite being born (DELIVERED) in W. Chicago. At the same time, the ghetto shaped and has always been an influential part of Lupe's music. In the context of the album (backwards), Deliver is immediately followed with Chopper which begins with "...and now ladies and gentlemen, Lupe Fiasco", introducing us to Lupe, the rapper. Chopper is pretty much about pimping the game for personal benefit meaning Lupe successfully makes it out of Deliver's ghetto by pimping the rap game and using nerdy themes and persona as commentary to the ghetto he grew up in. Genius. 🤯
This song is blowing my mind lol. You made me a fan out of Lupe Fiasco. I said before that before you started this train I had only heard "hip hop saved my life" but now hearing more, I'm shocked
Tetsuo and youth is my all time favorite album. I make a yearly post talking about how fire the album is and how each song has multi layered meaning in each line talking about socio/political issues as well as spiritual issues. Plus almost every song has pop culture/video game references, which goes to show that Lupe probably has the has the widest and most diverse life experiences of any rapper just based on the types of lyrics he throws in his songs.
Only here for the Lupe videos. Absolutely love your breakdowns. Hopefully you tackle Mural someday although that's going to be one long ass video. Much love and respect
Completely forgot about this gem, added to my play list and won't forget it again. Didn't realise it had the 2 meanings, absolute fire from one of the best to ever do it 🙌
Bro I appreciate you. These videos on Lupe's body of work are my favorite. It's such a shame Lupe doesn't more recognition for his talent. Dood is just in another stratosphere. You do a good job always breaking down his art. Kudos to you. It's dope content.
Great Lupe breakdown. I pretty much view when you have a Lupe reaction/breakdown b/c you have the most thorough and insightful perspectives. (Side note: I think you may have shortchanged the MYH saga). Nonetheless, keep the Lupe breakdowns coming, I would def subscribe. Saw the Wav Files breakdown when it first came out, consider doing another breakdown from Drogas Wave...
Subscribed after watching several videos going to watch all of them. Love your insight because I would never have listened to this artist or song, so thanks for broadening my mind
Bro u be on point with these bars... Lupe been my fav since i heard tilted wayyy back on 2k. Bro im old, i been claimin rakim the as goat, cause rakim changed the game to real lyrics, my whole life until i heard lupe! Failure, Much More, theme music, list on and on. #Lupethegoat
After watching this video many times already, I found a (what I think could be) third possible meaning for the sentence "pizza man/peace of man don't come here no more" where it refers to it alluding to the idea of a warning to this peace or man to NOT come to the hood anymore instead of saying that it/he in fact does not come to the hood anymore. I base this on the idea of Lupe being in the scenario where he is actually talking to this symbolized entity (peace or a pizza man) kinda representing innocence, purity and fairness. About how if it/he keeps on coming, none of it will be left for those in the future. And so, if taken in such way, the song can acquire different meaning in some 'barsss'. Idk, just random thought, I did not put so much thought on it. If any, tell me what you think.
I seriously cry listening to his songs and YOU ALWAYS GO SO DEEP, you definitely do him justice!! Seriously your fave could NEVER!! Lupe is the goat 🐐!!
Hey, my English is not the best and I "discovered" Lupe, for whatever reason, only through the fronts against Royce, but this song really flashed me, as did other songs by him. And your explanation enhances it for me again. Thanks for that ^^
Dude, not only was that intro crazy, but I didn't see that chorus coming, with the pizza guy not approaching. Edit: Also didn't see that Peace of Man bit coming either, wow
I love your appreciation for Lupe. He's sooooo way ahead of his time. I feel he won't truly be appropriately recognized for years to come. However, I think saying he's a top 5 "lyricist" is a bit of a misnomer. I think he's probably the best conceptualist and linguist/semanticist in hip hop. There's never been a rapper in the game that even comes within a freaking lightyear of his abilities in that realm. His actually lyrical prowess-in terms of lyricism alone (structures, patterns, homonyms, cadences, etc.)-is excellent but not the best of the best. Not quite to be rivaled with the likes of Eminem, Tech N9ne, Nas, Rakim, etc.
The cadence isn't about lyricism, someone like Eminem, Tech N9ne, Kendrick etc. will demolish Lupe with cadence. Lupe is the greatest lyricist and storyteller tho.

Jacob Robinson I don’t think that would matter since everyone has a different MC that they think is the greatest. But if we taking about greatest Eminem is high up there. Royce up there too. Then you have underground rapers like Chris Rivers. There’s a lot. But if we are keeping it mainstream Eminem is in that convo of the greatest.
That’s a tough argument man. Em is my boy and I actually started this channel with em. He’s crazy with the pen but lyrically i still think Lupe wins. A lot of dms success comes from his controversy and his ability to rhyme anything and everything. He’s no bullshit. In your face and tells it like it is and has some of the craziest similes and metaphors. But...poetry wise...fluidity of words wise...song concepts wise...album concepts wise...Lupe is in a class all on his own. And that’s saying a lot from me because I hold em at goat status.
TheThirdErnest overall yes I agree with you he’s up there with Joyner and Hopsin in the story telling and album concept. As well as NF. And other MCs I could see your view on that clear. But 40-42 seconds into the reaction you said lyricist and the greatest of all time I don’t think anyone can take that from Eminem and he can most definitely put a story together as well but we are rating this as lyricist
@@christianvazquez523 the recent Em just rhymes a bunch of words that's all. Everything Lupe spits there's a meaning behind it and not just for the sake of rhyming
I do appreciate his word play and I don't deny him the right to have his own perspective, however, one major thing bothered me and would keep me from listening to this song. He spent his time rapping about all of the problems of the ghetto but provided no real solutions to the problems facing the ghetto. Now it may not be his responsibility to provide answers, it is just a song expressing ideas. But think about it, if you are in a conversation with someone who does nothing but complain and doesn't provide possible solutions, do you want to keep listening? I don't.
Tetsuo&youth is the most incredible and underrated work of art

Yes he’s in the top 5 but not the greatest.
Who’s better
I don't.
