I am on keto diet for past 11 years, from my experience -first we go on keto diet and let body get used to fats as main source of energy then slowly we slide in to intermittent fasting 16:8, 18:6, 20:4, OMAD, then 36 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours and so on! Its magic ❤

I had the opposite experience. I started to do long water fasts to drop weight quickly, but returned to a high carb' diet between fasts. I would start to gain weight then needed to fast again. This went on for five years.
Now that I have discovered the carnavore diet, my weight is steady, I'm never left feeling hungry, and I no longer need to fast, and my gut health has improved immensely!

A physician may have reservations about saying it on RUclips. But I’ve done many extended fasts. Up to seven days. Many 3, 4, and 5 day fasts having only water. I supervise myself. I’ve read at least 13 books on the subject. I’m not afraid to do it.

Yes , and you won’t get either to promote long term fasting. I had to leave Dr Fung’s facebook group because they threatened to bar me , for talking about anything over a 3 day fast. I’ve done multiple 10-15 day fasts on my own, with no issues. On the other hand, since I started doing them over 5 yrs ago, I never get sick with anything. Covid somehow passed me right by, along with routine bouts of bronchitis, I used to get. And that comes from someone whose wife complained every winter, OMG you’re sick again! LOL. not anymore, not even a headache in over 5 yrs.

Another awesome conversation- first Bikman, now Boz. Thank you. 🙏
This is a great discussion- how do you get a person into the headspace for fasting.
When I first saw Dr Fung talk about extended fasts I realized either he is crazy or I need to change my thinking. Then - and this is the most important part - get myself into the headspace to fast. I asked myself why am I doing this - and for me it had to be about more than just weight loss.
At that point I wasn’t just ready to fast, but I was driven to fast. I got into alternate day fasting and dropped weight with assistance of biomarkers.
The other piece is this- starting one practice begets other practices. Fasting turned into sauna, turned into cold plunges. After I lost my target weight, I got into weight lifting. There are things we can’t know at the start, but I think they are things that people can walk intentionally and that’s such a key role for a clinician.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The results are amazing. Glad to see channels like this educating people on the importance of fasting and diet changes. Drugs like PPI's assume you are not capable of strict diet changes but they are wrong. I've deprived the pharmaceutical industry of its monthly recurring revenues.

I have an eight hour eating window, down 80 pounds. While sipping my black coffee in the morning, I prepare a huge Whole Foods plant-based salad. Dark leafy greens, beans, onions, home, pickled beets, artichoke hearts, shredded carrots, olives, pumpkin seeds, The list goes on. I top it with a spice mix that I make every Sunday that has about 10 different spices. A salad dressing that I make from high-quality olive oil or flax oil. Great discussion! So, the key to getting rid of insulin resistance is to fast and reduce the number of insulin spikes during a day. Could one of you explain how insulin injections have been the most commonly used solution to quickly reducing blood sugar in a short time? In other words what happens when insulin is injected? Obviously, that is a short term solution and probably is making the insulin resistance worse for the long-term!!

Of course you'd say that Keto is a high fat diet, but only when it is compared to the low fat diets, not traditional diets, these low-fat/High Carbohydrate (LFHC) diets have been told to us for last 50+ years basing it on Calories in vs. Calories out, and the association with obesity, diabetes, heart disease, etc. Ask yourself: Has this worked to reduce the prevalence or has it increased it? These diets do make us hungrier, fatter, and sicker. And of note: ranchers feed livestock high carbohydrate diets to fatten them up, the animals get sick and they need medicines and antibiotics to compensate for their unnatural diet of grains and sugary foods (they put gummy worms into the cattle feed as a substitute for corn) , but somehow in humans we're supposed to get thinner and healthier.
I am old enough to remember the seals of approvals of the double red cross emblem given by the American Heart and Lung Associations on Pop Tarts, Breakfast cereals, etc. that my mom would buy me. Where are these folks now on these product endorsements? You can't even find images of them online... they burry their failures just like the patients that followed their advice.
Look back at photos in the 60's and 70's, I know I was there, sure, I was in grade school but I saw it... We were NOT this sick nor fat. Today babies are born obese and sick. Surely everyone sees it by now, the LFHC diet intervention has failed us.

Dry fasting cuts at least twice what water fasting does

So...why are you still prescribing Ozempic when you know 3 or 4 days of fasting will reverse high insulin???

    • @banjohole
      @banjohole 5 дней назад +5

because you have to consistently eat less for the insulin to then stay low. and most people have problems with eating less, that's why they take Ozempic. fasting 3 or 4 days has temporary benefits, but lifestyle diet is what counts most.

Sad story of two MD's talking how stupid they are and harming patients not curing anybody if they follow the standard of care. Hello, in 2024 everybody knows that already.

@eden3094 I am sorry you misunderstand me. Dr. Boz and her sardine diet and sardine challenge were always questionable. Then her deep dive into peeling her face away was the last straw for many of her followers. Dr. Fung, et al, are creating a professional fasting summit on January 7th. Why would you dilute the efficacy with Bosworth??

@@Pam-u9b Nothing "questionable" about Dr. Boz's sardine diet advice. Provided the sardines are good quality, a few days of eating only sardines works wonders for me. Especially in reducing chronic pain and getting prepped for an extended fast.
