Thanks for this. I do not have time to do such comparisons myself. I would be interested in you walking us through the FX chain and settings you use for your own videos such as this one. Pretty sure others would be too. Thanks!
I'm really impressed with the Waves plug-in, it would be perfect for my live setup. If only it wasn't Waves, though! I swore off ever buying another one of their plug-ins again after getting stung by WUP (Wave Upgrade Plan). When s***y companies make great products... Hopefully we'll see more AI noise reduction plug-ins soon!
Completely agree. I told myself to never buy one of their plug ins again due to their WUP as well. It's just anti-consumer and predatory. If they didn't do that people would still update their plugins if they loved it.
that's 2 steps what clarity does on its own. But what you say isnt true, check the examples. The issues with the background noise are not with low end alone.
@@whitenoisestudio I said to cut low frequencies to help the algorithm focus on more important frequencies. You don't need those anyway, so cut them before applying de-noise (Vx or RX9), in order to get the best result possible. I do this for a living.
Ha, fellow engineer here. Yeah same, doing this for a living as well. Of course removing low end before denoising will help, I will not question that . But you try clarity vs rx denoising. On heavy noisy stuff clarity outperforms spectral de-noise even without extra prepping. Saying this as a rx user as well, this outcome caught me by suprise. in this video: ruclips.net/video/xl-IxumHxCo/видео.html I point out that applying de-humming before denoise will benefit overall result and that extract dialogue is probably as good or almost equal to clarity on voice. That said, Clarity is optimised for voice and i wouldn't use it quickly on anyhting else than voice. If i have a different type of audiotrack i would first grab spectral de noise, it's way more all around.
@@whitenoisestudio I agree with all of that but I'm afraid you're talking about spectral editing and not the module "Spectral De-noise". Is it the module we're both talking about? Asking because you didn't tested it in this video. Also, the noise profile you used was very tiny, which doesn't help the plugins that need to learn it. And yes, that's a limitation! Sometimes clients want us to clean audios that don't have the space plugins need to learn a noise profile...
@@whitenoisestudio oh and when I said that I do this for a living I was meaning specifically de-noising voices. It's 90% of my work. I don't know if that's also your case but I assumed you're more of a music-focused engineer (who obviously does "this" for a living) :) btw, am I still an engineer if I don't have a degree?? haha
@@whitenoisestudio I should say that I don't apply Clarity Vx or Dialogue:Extract to the entire recording. I apply RX 9 Standard to the entire recording and then use the neural network denoisers to deal with nasty noises that the RX 9 denoisers let through. I purchased Dialgoue:Extract recently and have been amazed at how effective it is at removing 'poppy click/tap' sounds that I previously could not do anything about.
Using multiple denoisers can work more transparent. The dialogue:Isolate from rx10 is actually at the same level as clarity, unfortunately not a seperate plugin.
100%. they both do what they are supposed to, listening to them back to back with very noisy audio. however, extract:dialog can sound even better with it's adjustable (but VERY simple and intuitive) frequency filtering.
@@whitenoisestudio first time I ever saw or considered doing to stages of noise reduction....😮 Do you do this at different stages during mixing? Considering this as I record and get a noise....
Clarity Vx doesn't remove the woosh from aircon. It does at the point of equilibrium but I still hear it behind my voice. It's when I'm using my condenser mic (shotgun mic is fine) but had to give a heads up to people recording in hot spaces. AC must be off with condenser mics + waves clarity vx. Not sure about vx pro.
It even removes loud music for me with live recordings on vocals. So I find it peculiar it doesn’t remove that woosh. The pro version does have multiband which offers wat more flexibility.
@@whitenoisestudio I mean it's actual wind hitting the mic so maybe it can't distinguish between my breaths and the non-vocal air. Hoping the Pro can. If I get it I'll run another test and come back to this comment.
How would you approach removing a secondary vocal from a crowd member who begins singing along during a short segment and then screams? Her voice is approx an octave over the male vocalist.
@@whitenoisestudio It is pretty epic, but don't forget about deroom, even the lite version of that is absolutely crazy and an absolute bargain, especially if you can get it on sale.

Artifacts is pretty braod. IF artifacts happen after using denoisjng then there's not much you can do, you're better off with less denoising and keeping some noise. If you mean things like mouthclicks or breaths, then the tools in the video will help you out.
@@whitenoisestudio I had to revert Davinci Resolve or Adobe Audition back to original Rosetta to make it work properly. The problem with Davinci would be that new plugins or performance standards drops to subpar levels and newer plugins don’t work, because they need to be under the new OS. It’s a terrible hassle for someone who needs to do it all in one go on a M1. If you’re doing only audio that’s fine. The app/program will run slower but it’ll still work.

Waves Clarity VX and Pro review : ruclips.net/video/LLI4wPUXBgM/видео.html

Ok I admit my defeat, at least in this video
Waves is better than Acon in this one
Still love Acon

Awesome comparison. Waves Clarity VX is definitely the one to beat. Would love to see it compared with ERA Bundle 6. It does fine for me

Yeah its great, but it fails to load in most DAWS and does not work with any chip other than Intel.
@@nrdas8912 clarity vx is very light on silicon apple machines (neural engine). 30% of my intel i9 machine, maybe 1% on my M1 max..
The Waves Clarity VX is great (I tried it already) but the fact that how much CPU it consumes is crazy. Hopefully they get it sorted soon 🙏
Depends. You don’t want a tool like this to be inserted at all times.

Different strengths. I have all of these, I would say I like the Acon best for more subtle work and the waves or izotope for the most extreme settings
