The water meter that's better as a breathalyzer

This new meter issued by the BWSSB in Bangalore for installation in homes runs on air. After hearing complaints that many residents are seeing a spike in bills and usage, I just thought of giving this theory a test and guess what, it's true. We're paying for air on the days that the water supply has stopped - which is atleast every other day where we live in Bangalore.

Same meter at home. It keep running even for air and we ended up paying 9k water bill for family of 2 members.
It's pure cheating 🤑
One solution is to put U bend front and back of meter and valve to close when water is not coming.

No solution at the meter. Only option is to not leave taps open in the house if there is no water.
