It was the 80s man....small things and details were were well taken care of and became important. The Duke is a masterpiece and I won't have ANY other actor displaying him.
dude gives his 100% every time. The scream he made when Clubber punched Rocky, the way the dude ugly cried when Apollo got killed, he even actively wrestled with Drago's cornerman lmao. He gives his everything everytime he gets the screentime.
Such an important character in every Rocky he was in. His intensity in three, four, and Rocky Balboa behind Rocky was like a continuation of Mickey. RIP.
IDK ,I Think everybody knew , if you think about , who else , MIGHT have fit , I don't think anybody , just wouldn't have been the same with anybody else , RIP , And , thank you 👍🏽👍🤙🏼🤙👍😭
Never forget who created the character though. Sylvester Stallone showed us that white people and black people could overcome their differences to become Superior people it's a shame that there's a lot of race-baiting going on right now
@@marioncobretti8210 As much as I like the Rocky movies, (At least 1 through 4) Stallone was a Cheater. He STOLE Rocky's character from Chuck Wepner. (The Bayonne Bomber) after he fought Muhummad Ali. I'm pretty sure Wepner SUED Stallone years later and Won.
“YOU SEE!!! HE’S NOT A MACHINE!!! HE’S A MAN!!! One of the most memorable moments of the ROCKY films for me... R.I.P. TONY BURTON an inspiration on film and in Real Life Always be Remembered
Notice how everyone in Apollo Creed's Office looks professional? In 2017, that type scene is a thing of the past. Sad but true.... Man how I wish I had a trainer like Tony Burton. My life would've been so different. Mr. Tony Burton, may you RIP Sir. I know the Lord has welcomed you into his kingdom.
The way he uncomfortable sits up on his chair when Rocky is on tv in the meat cooler is one of the subtle little things that he did to make this character so believable.
Duke has always been my favourite character in the Rocky franchise and Tony Burton just owned the part. I think my favourite Duke moment is from Rocky IV after the second round where Rocky cuts Drago and Duke gives the "You got him hurt bad, now he's worried. You CUT him! You HURT him! You see? You see? He's NOT a machine, HE'S A MAN!" line.
Tony Burton was a Great Man ! "Duke" in Rocky.. We will never forget you..We grew up with You , Carl Weathers & Burt Young in Rocky movies..Great Actors .. Excellent performance.. Your loss is huge and I can't describe how sad I am..But you inspired us for our whole life ! We love you ! ! !
The REAL definition of FRIEND... sometimes we fear saying what one NEEDS to hear in fear of LOSING your status in a friendship/relationship... I am writing my own Autobiography and my "intro" page I'm going to dedicate it with that powerful message!! RIP Duke
This may be the best video on RUclips. One of the great underrated actors in film history. His presence is so powerful that his scenes seem much longer than they actually are. Every appearance is a textbook lesson of what great acting looks like, as if he's saying to the rest of the cast and the viewer "...this is how it's done."
Tony Burton did an absolutely outstanding job playing the role of Duke. Some of the best “motivizational” lines came from his character. We will miss you Tony, thanks for the memories.
Tony Burton had played such an important part in all of the "Rocky" films. His knowledge and skills as a manager and trainer to both Apollo and then to Rocky in the later films was the guiding force in their respective successful boxing careers.
The man is a hero, great actor!!! Watched the movies literally hundreds of times..but just now i realized what a great character it whas in the rocky movies.
I love how in the Rocky franchise, everyone picks up the torch to get to the goal. When Mickey died, Apollo stepped in. When Apollo died, Duke stepped in. With Duke gone, Rocky is now the coach.
My favorite Duke moment is a VERY underappreciated one, and one rarely noticed: When he jumped on Drago's trainers when they tried to grab Rocky after Rocky took Drago to the mat. Duke was ready to fuckin throw DOWN
4:50 and 6:44: the inspirational speeches of my childhood! (Along with Rocky's speech to his son before departing to Russia.) And they still inspire me today. I wonder if Mr Burton had any idea of the effect he had on millions of fans the world over through these scenes... Thank you so much sir, and may you rest in heaven.
You gotta love Duke. He had a huge heart. Loved Apollo like a son and was always looking out for what was best for him. He also always respected Rockly as a real fighter no mater his low He was on the totem pole in the early days and was more than happy to be in his corner when him and Apollo team up and after Apollo passed. He a champion trainer, mentor and friend. One of a kind character
"YOU CUT EM!'" "YOU SEE!! HE'S NOT A MACHINE! HE'S A MAN!" I always think of that part when I workout,it makes me give just a little bit more of all I got. Rip Tone😥
The man most of, if not all of the best lines of the entire franchise. It simply could not have been the same without him. Thanks for the awesome childhood memories!❤
Bless your soul Duke ....may your spirit be free...there is sooo much heart in all Rocky's you help make that Tony Burton..."THROW THE DAM TOWEL !!!!!!!!!
wow. great character. RIP Tony A.K.A. Duke. his speeches in Rocky 4 "you see you hurt him, no pain no pain". damn goose bumps. no one gave speeches like Duke
The memorial of every single actor is perfect. Really perfect I am an Rocky Expert think nobody never ever saw this movies more times than I. I am from german and man I am telling you you have done a great job. The times year everything is right.
“I saw you beat that man, like I ain’t saw any man get beat before, and he just kept coming after you...” I favorite line in the whole movie!!! Scene gives me chills every time
"...but in the end I know you'll be the one standing." *Rocky raises his fists in victory* Perfect and epic editing there my friend. My eyes got misty.
Such a coach is a treasure from which you have to draw everything that he gives from himself with great gratitude. What a pity that I didn't have one... ;( Great role. Mr. Tony Burton Rest In Peace.
Tony Burton was so well-cast in this role. Everything he did was delivered with such heart and conviction. Such an underrated factor in the success of the franchise. RIP Tony Burton.
Great tribute! He was the quiet storm in Rocky series. I love the scene where he tells Apollo "let it go, I know what you're feeling, let it go. You're the champ!"
Thank you so much for making this video. I LOVE Duke! He is such a cool, underrated character. One of my favorites not only in the ROCKY films, but in film period.

I feel like that saying should be reversed and it would make more sense.
💯 the series would have NOT been the same wout him
Such an important character in every Rocky he was in. His intensity in three, four, and Rocky Balboa behind Rocky was like a continuation of Mickey. RIP.
Rattle his ancestors is definitely something Mick would say.
Jon Stefanik Also he tried kissing the express train.
aecmaer
Christian Buonamassa his screaming from outside the ring during the last round of the second Apollo fight made that fight.
aesya
Duke was a FANTASTIC choice for that role. Then again so was Apollo.
Carl P. Yea Carl weathers is a great
Not a bad singer either. In Happy Gilmore he did a cover of The Carpenter's song, "We've only just begun". Too bad he never got to finish it.
They were the two best in the whole saga
No one other man would have done it like him rocky went not be the same if it was some else
Tony
Very good supporting actor. Never got the credit he deserved. R.I.P. Tony. :-(

His scene in Rocky 2 when he tries to convince Apollo to not fight Rocky again was great.
The look on his face is so real, like a guy that knows boxing?!
The way rock repeats that last “no pain”. Man. I loved how Duke brought out another level of Rocky.

Tony burton did such a n awesome job in rocky one of the best characters created and he was a great man
R.I.P one of the greatest rocky characters
This man was the most talented and motivating actors of all time you felt this man's energy being delivered off the screen and into you.
So many memerable characters in the entire series and Tony Burton was defiantly one of them. It wouldn't be the same movie without his performance.

rocky scared him more than he scared Apollo..
We don’t need that kind of man in our life
Rocky: "I see three of him out there.."
Paulie: "Hit the one in the middle.."
Duke: "Yea Hit the one in the middle..."
😂😂😂
He's yours. He's yours. "This bum shouldn't be in the same ring with you". What a great little scene.
RIP to a true legend. His acting was off the charts in the rocky movies , he put so much heart into his character.
such a great actor and very inspiring rest in Paradise mr Burton
Mr. Burton was perfect for the Rocky movies.
Duke knew Rocky was bad business as soon as he saw him hitting that frozen meat.
Calinks ... Duke always knew Rocky was a Bad Muthafucka!
Nigga was looking round that room like "wtf nigga Apollo asking for some coffee wtf man" lol

Frozen meat was not the key issue to his concern. He saw the look in Rockys eyes. Eye of the tiger. Eye of the tiger. Come on!
when ya see a man crush the ribs of a side of beef..ya say ..goddamn !!!!
I love it! Thanks for the memories Tony burton.

Absolutely love his character. So underrated. But those who know, know. Long live the Duke!!!
So sad Tony's gone. Our life's are so short, we're losing all the great actor's, we'll be gone soon.
We don't need a man like this in our life but he keeps hitting the middle.Tony Burton was classic !

It’s amazing watching the whole series and seeing how old they get, it really got to me when I see burton in the last film. Legendary
Rocky 4 is where Tony really shined. He basically filled the role of Apollo and Micky single handedly and without question.
