Dang! I was about to pull the trigger on buying the upgrade.. then saw the '3 year' license.. I had to look up if I missed that caveat with 2024.. then found your vid. PHS-E has always been my go too. I fight with free programs and am not sure if I will want to deep dive into finding free or cheaper options and then learn to use them on top of it all. 😔 I did check if my old computer still runs elements 15 and yes, it still is functional, but not really sufficient anymore. I use other programs for features PHS-E 2025 is going to offer and I pay more than the upgrade cost to those per year! So, I guess I'll take the 3 year license cos it'll make it cheaper in the end and I'll have everything I need 'under one roof'.
Adobe is out of control! I use version 2018 and purchased it without any restrictions on longevity. If they no longer offer support for this version that's one thing but to not allow use of the product then they are opening up a can of worms and a huge lawsuit. That's like Windows or Apple saying we will shut down your computer unless you buy their latest version. To me, this seems like they are more interested in keeping their stock holders happy than the community of photographers that have supported them over the years. There are so many programs like On1 that run circles around Elements and at a better price. We are talking about Elements here NOT PS. Come on Adobe, this is BS! I encourage all pro and casual Adobe users to try some of the other editing tools and not give into Adobes dwindling monopoly. I don't have a problem updating to a newer version if it fits my editing needs but their are so many plug-ins and stand a lone programs that have surpassed Adobe and are a lot less expensive. No one should be forced to buy another version just to continue using the version that works for them!!!
I will check out Affinity. I've never used anything but PSE, and am on my 3rd version (2018). I was ready to upgrade to 2025, but that will NEVER haven NOW!
But will the 3 year license will include the upgrade for version 2026 and 2027? It is not clear - as far as I understand the 2025 version will work for 3 years (subscription model), but I can't find anywhere the info if I would be able to update at no cost for the 2026 and 2027 versions, when available.
I tried but couldn't get comfortable with (non-adobe) alternatives to my PE2014 so I'm gonna get hold of PE2024 which will probably be my final Adobe purchase.
Greedy, stupid move. Dumb. Question: All my 60k pics are organized with people tags, dates etc., so am I stuck with my Adobe 21? Or is there a competitor that I can seamlessly switch to? Thanks
I have version 16 (PSE 2018) . No. I will absolutely NOT ever buy PSE 2025 or any future Adobe product that expires. I am furious with Adobe. Yes, it is a bunch of BS. I'll download GIMP or find some other photo editing software to buy.
This is crap.. I've more than 2 computers and all of them have Photoshop/Premiere Elements loaded on there. I also have a full photoshop loaded on my big desktop. The Elements version tend to be used for on the road edit so I can give it to somebody's type of thing. If I need full editing, I will take it home to get it down. I guess my machines running Element of last few years will be forever using the older version.
I think I'm going to leave adobe Photoshop Elements. Or use my 2023 version and go online to use some of the Free good AI software. As I see it, there isn't any of the New futures that you can find for free. I think it's a big mistake from adobe.
I have PSE 2024. I will not upgrade. I hope it continues to work as that was the license when purchased, we shall see. I have never liked the PSE upgrade offers. Too expensive annually for incremental changes. I used PSE 13 for ages. I use PSE for quick things, otherwise I use Photoshop. This is the cost of AI.
@Digitalscrapbookinghq Yes I have creative cloud - the whole suite for about 27.00 with tax / month. I got a great deal and they offered it again this year when I was going to switch back to Photography Package and Dreamweaver. The only apps I focus on now are Dreamweaver, Acrobat and Photoshop in daily life. I love PSE for that Photo Bin vs tabs. I wish PS had a Photo Bin option. But if I am doing a lot of cropping, PS is best as PSE will not retain settings. It was just that they gave me a deal that was worth doing vs the Photography package and Dreamweaver alone. Once that goes away I will Just get DW and PS in the photography package for that same price. I like PS for those things that PSE does not do. I use a WebP plugin in chrome currently but also use PS for that if there are a lot of them to download.
More bullshit from Adobe. Highly suggest looking into other editing software. There are very good options available and there is no reason to submit to Adobe's corporate bullying. Once you purchase a software package it should be yours to use as long as you like without ongoing fees.
I do understand where you are coming from, but on the other hand how would you suggest that the company pay their employees? The other option is to hike up the price of the software back to thousands of dollars as it was before Creative Cloud monthly fees.
@@Digitalscrapbookinghq Frankly it was fine the way they had it. Photoshop for the professionals that are willing to cough up the big bucks and Elements for the hobbyist that doesn't need an upgrade every year. Stopping a product you purchased from functioning after a period of time is predatory behavior and people need to stop doing business with companies that engage in this.

Yes, that's so true. The time saved from not having to research and learn something new outweighs the small cost to upgrade every few years.

Thanks for your comment, I'm sure you speak for many!
Because of the 3 year license, have you thought about switching to Affinity?
You never know! Stay tuned!!
Sounds like good news!! Thank you. Would love to learn Affinity from you
I will check out Affinity. I've never used anything but PSE, and am on my 3rd version (2018). I was ready to upgrade to 2025, but that will NEVER haven NOW!
gonna upgrade from 23 as I tend to only do so every 2 years, but will look into alternatives next year or year after,
It will be interesting to see what you decide.

No, it only includes support and two years of bug fixes. You won't also get PSE2026 & 2027.
I tried but couldn't get comfortable with (non-adobe) alternatives to my PE2014 so I'm gonna get hold of PE2024 which will probably be my final Adobe purchase.
That will be a big step up from 2014 to 2024! Enjoy all the new features 👌🏻
Greedy, stupid move. Dumb.

You know what! Organizer will still work after the 3 year license ends so you are in luck if you mostly use PSE for organising photos.
😢 no I won’t be upgrading, time to switch to Paintshop pro!
If you do make sure you check out @scrapbookcampus
3 year license is a no-go for me. That is why I have just upgraded from PE 2021 to 2024
I understand - hopefully you'll enjoy 2024 for years to come

I understand, a lot of people feel that way.

I am sure many people will be keeping their older version for this very reason.
I will switch. I'm not a big fan of PSE anyway.
Really? What bugs you about PSE?

So are you using Photoshop and paying montly? Or are you using the older version?
