Fun fact, he recorded this in mid '79 and played ALL of the instruments himself, sharing the vocals with Linda. Not for the first time, he proved himself ahead of his time.

This is the best line up he has had in his solo career. Robbie McIntosh of The Pretenders on lead guitar, Hamish Stuart of The Average White Band rhythm guitar/bass, Chris Whitten on drums, and Wix and the missus on keys.

and that solo recording grooves way more than any live version with any band
I had that album. It tripped me out that Coming up, did not sound like the radio version. Learned later that it was all PM.
He did it with McCartney I and Ram too.
the 79 live version is where it's at...his bass tone is off the charts and his vocals are at their peak
Was just thinking the same.
His vocals were far from their peak in '79 lol. You can hear the fatigue in his hoarseness. He hadn't been "peak" consistently since the mid-60s
Wow, never knew Paul was this funky..Mixing live music with hip hop samples already in 1990, respect Sir Paul ;-)
this drumming skill of his drummer..superb

Great performance Sir Paul McCartney
This is bloody great
'Great Live Version' ,maybe the Best- Chris is killin it ..
i personally like the studio version the most. as for live versions, the 2009 sullivan/letterman "rooftop" version is an absolute killer to me.
Just went from a '79 version of this with a Yamaha BB bass, and it's amazing how weak the Hofner sounds in comparison. Damn.
just came from that same '79 wings live version and that Yamaha sounds absolute crap. must have been an endorsement.
