I have been watching a lot of videos, as we are planning another trip to the Caribbean this year. We have stayed at Riu on a couple of occasions, in Aruba and Jamaica, and have no complaints. I want to give a giant compliment to this young lady, for this very well put together top 10! There are a lot of reviewers out there who just do a shoddy job, and don't give you the information you really want, or they are too long. So thank you!

I went to Riu Montego Bay last year and it was fantastic! You could relax, they had parties as well (there was a fun foam party on of our days). The jerk chicken shack on the beach was soo good! We had the bigger suite as well. Thanks for the list, I'll have to look at some of the others on this list!

You keep on doing it Vanessa, another great video!! Totally agree about the #1 choice having outdated rooms! If they update them, I will book my trip immediately. I once stayed at the Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun (pictured @ 0:32). It was really nice looking, but 2 bad things killed it for me: Horrible drinks, and the ugly beach location. Lots of rocks and it's located on the curvy part of the Cancun Hotel Zone so there's no real waves. I'm glad you left that off the list, lol!
I stayed at the Riu Costa Mujeres in the new hotel zone and while the property was immaculate the service, food, entertainment, and amenities left me longing for MoBay.
The beach looks quite nice to me. What is not good about it? I think although t it’s at a weird angle because of it sitting at the tip of the 7 shape of the hotel zone. the beach itself is among the best with shallow water not as much big waves and beautiful blue Color like grand fiesta American coral beach and Hyatt ziva. I haven’t been there it’s just base on the research I have done.
I'm excited because I plan to visit your #1 pick soon! I've been to RIU Ocho Rios which was nice and they have good food. I also been to RIU in Aruba and stayed in the adult section. It was nice and I enjoyed the restaurants. I enjoy the foods at RIU. Thanks good video.
I'd like you to continue this for other brands. Like the Dreams resorts. So many good details. Watching your videos while I'm on the treadmill and it snows is a welcome treat. Hoping to get back to resorts in 2022. The 10th Riu in Costa Rica was my first All Inclusive six years ago. Do they still do wrist bands? Some fun stuff, but drinks were horrible and I remember a long, hot walk from the beach to the pool bar to get more. They explained there had been other guests acting rowdy on the beach so they had shut down the little beach bar. Pretty stupid to punish others
Riu Baja California in Cabo was very nice. It is extremely clean and well-kept. The room was nice (we had an ocean front), comfortable bed, huge shower, and the customer service was definitely 5 star! They want to make you happy and that was great. The coffee bar was great and we had cappuccinos daily. The cons were the drinks. They are very watered down. Not too tasty, but you can ask for a double to help it a bit. Food ratings are subjective, but for us it was just okay. The breakfast buffet was the only food that we can say we really liked. The al a carte restaurants were also just okay. Overall, the poolside entertainment was fun and also the nighttime music. Short cab ride to town for shopping and some of the best seafood we've had in awhile! We had one beach day and the vendors on the beach will not bother you much. Just kindly say that you are not interested and they leave you in peace.

I Think it would be very helpful to do a video on what the restrictions are in the various tropical countries you are covering that Americans are allowed to travel to. For example, in Mexico there are varying curfews, and live music is no longer common. Night clubs did not seem to be open, although that was not my focus in Cancun and to Lamm where I recently went on vacation. Thank you so much!
Surprised at the number 1 choice. While I loved the property itself, I really disliked the room as you mentioned. This was before the renovations, but it really left me hesitant to rebook at that location. The food was good and the service was A1. The spa is also top notch. I agree with everything you said though about that location.
I'm mixed about Riu.....Been to Las Americas in Cancun and thought it was decent....Not overly amazing, but decent for the price Went to Baja California 2 Months ago and really didn't have the best experience. Pool servers and Bartenders were great, but the Check In service was really sluggish and the food and service at some of the restruants left a lot to be desired
Was there Feb. 2021. Good time. Stayed in ocean view room. Down load the riu app, so u can see when restaurants are open. Due to covid, lack of guest not all restaurants were open, no room service.

Thank you very much for the review i've been waiting for it for a long time, as you can guess i booked the "Riu Palace Jamaica, Montego Bay" for our honeymoon and i took the "Junior Suit Special", they told because it's an honeymoon they are going to upgrade room for free. Normally the wedding was supposed to be last May but because of covid 19 we postponed it to June 2021, so i can't wait!
No, if you want a five star vacation, this chain isn’t it, but they do provide a great value. Five star experiences cost MUCH more, especially for an inclusive experience 😉 Hope this helps!

Last year, my husband and I along with 3 other couples stayed at the #5 RIU Palace in Aruba. It was incredible! We loved it, food was amazing, entertainment was good, beach was incredible. The staff was super. Best vacation hands down. Looking to do another RIU vacation- considering one of the Jamaica resorts, either Montego Bay or palace for next year. If you book RIU Palace Jamaica🇯🇲, you have access to RIU Reggae and RIU Montego.. But not vise versa.. So montego is not better! Not sure why RIU Cancun is not on here where it's close walking distance to downtown Cancun where all the clubs are

Why did you not mention the Great Waterslides excellent for adults too at this Riu Montego bay. Also the Riu Palace is next door and if you stay there you can go to both these and to the Riu Reggae on the other side that has delicious Jerk Chicken at the outside hut near their pool. We had a wonderful time at all 3 Riu ⛱️⛱️⛱️🏆

Mexico 🇲🇽 is a relatively cheaper flight ✈️ from my location and the location is reasonably priced. It will be our first trip since 2019. Thanks for all the information you provide.
We stayed at RIU Palace Macao Punta Cana in 2013 and quite frankly we’re disappointed. You called the food perfectly as it was adequate, but just so. The entertainment was substandard as were the entertainment venues which smelled of mildew, just after an alleged recent renovation. The beach was lovely as were the grounds. Staff was attentive and friendly. Rooms were average, but at the price point were fine. The pool was small, as you mentioned, crowded and loungers were extremely difficult to get after 8 am. Is it customary to close the pool at dinner time? I like to swim in the evenings and this option was unavailable. As well if you venture off resort up the beach to the vendor shops, be careful. Vendors range from the absolutely amazing to domineering and downright scary. We left one when my wife got terrified to tears by him. However two doors down we were treated to an amazing gentleman who took great care of us. Needless to say, we spent and tipped well there. The entire experience was average at best and to be frank we have been wary of RIU ever since. Perhaps our expectations were out of sync with our budget, but we’d seek alternatives to RIU next time. I’m wondering if this resort has had a Reno since 13? Thanks for the reviews. I’d appreciate your thoughts or any of other guests.

6 or 7 years ago, my wife and I visited this resort. We loved the resort but the only issue that we had were the mosquitoes. They were terrible even in the restaurants. Staff would fog the resort at sunset but it didn’t work. Do you know if there is STILL a mosquito problem there? Thanks

When I went it was overrun by kids and families. They nice so I didn’t mind, but good to know it’s now adult only.

@@Passport_Pages thank you for your reply. I have looked at several of your videos and we going to the RIU Palace Mexico in Playa Del Carmen at the end of the year based on one of your videos. Mexico 🇲🇽 is a relatively cheaper flight ✈️ from my location and the location is reasonably priced. It will be our first trip since 2019. Thanks for all the information you provide.

We stayed at RIU Palace Macao Punta Cana in 2013 and quite frankly we’re disappointed. You called the food perfectly as it was adequate, but just so.
The entertainment was substandard as were the entertainment venues which smelled of mildew, just after an alleged recent renovation.
The beach was lovely as were the grounds. Staff was attentive and friendly. Rooms were average, but at the price point were fine.
The pool was small, as you mentioned, crowded and loungers were extremely difficult to get after 8 am. Is it customary to close the pool at dinner time? I like to swim in the evenings and this option was unavailable.
As well if you venture off resort up the beach to the vendor shops, be careful. Vendors range from the absolutely amazing to domineering and downright scary. We left one when my wife got terrified to tears by him. However two doors down we were treated to an amazing gentleman who took great care of us. Needless to say, we spent and tipped well there.
The entire experience was average at best and to be frank we have been wary of RIU ever since.
Perhaps our expectations were out of sync with our budget, but we’d seek alternatives to RIU next time.

Can anyone give a review of the Riu on Paradise Island Nassau. I was thinking of going there in July. Or, could you recommend a better place to stay. I’d like to keep it all inclusive though.
I would add Riu Palace Las Americas in Cancun. And I am excited to try Riu Latino in Costa Mujeres this Christmas...it just opened Oct 1, 2022

I think I have stayed at the Montego Bay RUI before about 12 years ago! Had a great time but the rooms smelled musty & were outdated back then!!

i try to make a reservation but they asked me to upgrade. is it worth it? they ask for 3 different upgrades but don't understand what it is for.
6 or 7 years ago, my wife and I visited this resort. We loved the resort but the only issue that we had were the mosquitoes. They were terrible even in the restaurants. Staff would fog the resort at sunset but it didn’t work. Do you know if there is STILL a mosquito problem there? Thanks

Oh my goodness, if this is about the MoBay property, yes! They were in the bathroom. I’m hoping it was resolved with the renovation.
Thanks Vanessa. In your opinion, how does Riu Reggae rank? I was thinking about saying there instead of the Riu Montego Bay. I know that staying at Riu Reggae gives you acces to Riu Montego Bay. Also, I don't like the open bathroom configuration an Riu MB.
Hi Tanya, such a good question. Honestly, Reggae is better overall so I think you’d be better off staying there, and then visiting Montego Bay like you said. Win win 😊 hope this helps
