If your BMW has transmission light, transmission malfunction warning, the car has no power, hard start or does not start and you have BMW e91, e90, e92, e93 we will explain in this video what often can cause that and how you can usually fix that on BMW E90 E91 E92 E93. Cars nowadays are very complicated and if one sensor does not work right it can cause multiple things to malfunction. For instance because of a bad crankshaft position sensor we were getting transmission light and transmission malfunction warning, also the hard starts very slow, dies and has no power. We explained how to fix that on 2006 BMW 325i but it should work on the whole generation BMW E90 E91 E92 E93.

Thanks for the video and the useful content. I have an e92/2010 where I started to get a transmission fault on the dash after I have changed the gear cooler and the gear oil. The car did not generate any codes earlier, but after I have done the above maintenance, I started to get the ugly transmission fault. The fault only comes after I drive the car (after 20 or 30 mins) not sure what could be the relation but it seems that when the car is warm enough this fault comes in. After the fault is on the dash, the car starts to have poor transmission, error in selection (be in N while the selector is in D, etc.) I got it inspected by a mechanic (who did the oil change) but he was not able to fix it (he suggested to change the whole gear box, which I am not convinced to do!) It is notable that when the car is parked, cold, it starts with out any issue and without the transmission fault. The fault comes after driving the car for 30+ mins. I am puzzled and not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

My 2009 BMW X3 3.0 litre engine, few months ago gear start skipping when full stop from start. There is no fault code from scanner, no sound of grinding noise, sometime drives O.K. without any problem. The vehicle has around 210000km.

My car (BMW E90 3.16i - 2011) goes into limp mode and gets stuck in 3rd gear, especially in hot weather. This issue does not occur in cooler weather. The problem arises after the car has been running for a while.

At First I Thought You Were Pointing To That Black Wire Under Where Your Finger Was Pointing, Where There Is A Bolt Or Sensor At The End. Question: Why is half of the top of the engine disassembled? Isn't possible to get to that crank sensor without taking the entire intake off? Thanks for posting.
No is not possible
Yes it’s possible I was able to remove the crankshaft sensor without removing the intake manifold but it’s really hard and you can only do it if you have a good lighting. it don’t over torque it or else you will snap the bold and then you will be required to remove it.
Hi so I have a 08 bmw 328i so when the car is not warmed up the transmission runs great shifts smood but I notice once the car warm after running for 20 minutes it start to feel like it slips and sometime has a vibration to any suggestions

Hello I have a 2008 328i and the car drives fine however if it's idling for a long time I will get every light on the dash come on and the car will sound like it's going to die. Once I start to drive again they all go away. Any ideas? I can't find anyone locally that knows what's going on. Thank you!!!

I have the same issue with my 2007, 320i, cleaned the sensor,then replaced it with working one still the issue, usually happened when I drive for an hour or longer if I drive over 2k rpm. Can anyone help me and tell me how to fix it please. I'm suspecting it oil leak from rocker cover, it sometimes causes white smoke from the exhaust. Any help will be appropriated.

Hello, I recently changed Crankshaft position sensor and I bought it from FCP Euro! I thought this problem would go away but my E90 330Xi drives well until I pushed to 6000 rpm , that’s when transmission malfunction shows up!
What else am I supposed to do??
