I purchased this to try out 28mm street photography. I figure I’d buy “a better” lens later if I liked the 28mm look. A year later I’m still shooting the TTArtisan. There was only one occasion where I wish I had a faster lens. For the price, it can’t be beat
Great little lens that I did sell to purchase a Voigtlander 28/2 Ultron 2 and may pick up another TTArtisan 28/5.6 for fun.. The Voigtlander 40/2.8 looks nice also..
The ship you walked by was the HMS Belfast, an official UK IWM museum. Tickets are about 24 GBP. As a tourist, that kind of ticket price was baked into my budget. It was one of my more favorite museums in London. If I were to go back, I'd probably bring a wide-angle lens and a roll of Delta 3200, or push Tri-X/HP5+.
Thanks for the budget friendly 28mm lens recommendation. I love to use a 28mm f/5.6 for street and landscape photography. However, mine is a 28mm equivalent because it is actually a 65mm f/5.6 that I use on a 6x9cm medium format rangefinder.
Nice video, great shots. I purchased this lens as well (silver), just for fun and often use it on my M10R. (Sorry no film here, I’m too old for that, shot enough film in the 80’s-90’s).
@@therealsirrobin yeah it's not a great street lens and more for digital bodies than film.I use it mostly on a Sony a7c and for the price it's an amazing lens.
The aperture and focus rings are small and not too easy to access, especially with the hood attached. I usually set mine to f8 or f11 and use zone / hyperfocal focus and use it like a snapshot lens. I think at f8 everything from about 2 meters to infinity is in reasonably focus.
Sorry I must have missed something, why, when you don't really use a light meter would you put an external light meter on a camera that already has a light meter ?
Well, it was just to show people that there are options available in case your camera doesn't have a light meter. When shooting slide films I would probably use it myself.
What I find a bit sad is that they don't produce any lenses in LTM mount for the ones of us who are not fortunate enough to get a chance to have a Leica M or a Voigtlander.
Can anyone comment on how this lense will perform on my M3? Viewfinder will (I think) crop the frame quite a lot. Does this make it impossible to compose?
Why are you using such fast film? I would think 400 asa would be more than enough, ilford FP4 or HP 5 would be fine. I love your channel, great locations. Keep it up 👏👏👏
Thank you very much. I prefer small lenses, but I know that this will mean fiddling with rings and accidental changes of other rings. Something I have to live with 😢😅😂.
I'm so confused and bewildered by the concept of street photography like this. I feel like if I were to walk down the sidewalk and take a photo of a stranger without their permission or consent here in the United States, I'd get confronted or even physically assaulted.

I have a Leica Elmarit-M 28mm f/2.8 lens. That was budget. Small and lightweight, I love it!
Film colors are Awesome!!!
2:54 Wow 😲😳
LNG tank, it's a floating structure to keep gas pressure/temperature consistent.

Oh neat, the Bethnal Green Gas Holder Station. I remember it from an event I went to back in 2018 just across the canal.
They are gas rings. The frames that supported gas tanks
I have the exact lens. It also works well on my Leica ME Type 240 besides on film. I think its build quality is just as good as the Leica Summarit.
Love the sound of the M6 👍

I think it was 26 or even 28 back in August. 😕
Das Video mit den verschiedenen Sprachen im Hintergrund und den eingeblendeten Fotos hat echt was meditatives.

Hello Robin, good video, thanks. Could I ask where did you got the strap I see in the video? Many thanks

My favorite type of Robin video. Leica M6, 28mm.... Let’s GO!
Hi They are Gas storage tanks that rise up within the frame when they are full
Exact !
Also referred to as a gasometer sometimes.
Gas tank supports. When the gas in the tanks increases the tanks expand up the structures.
First comment!
Good to see you shooting film again!!! ♥️
There will be more film content coming soon. 🙏
TTartisans make some nice lenses. The Noctilux copy they have is a favourite of mine.
I've heard that before but it's comically large and too heavy. I'd rather spend more and get the new VL 50/1.0 instead.

When using the small tab it's very easy to focus but yes it's perfect for zone focusing. 👌🏼
Honestly, 28mm at f5.6 sounds ideal for street photography during the day. You can focus on composition more than focus that way.

The market is probably too small for them. VL brought out a 40mm and it is lovely!
A lot of these shots looked over exposed especially in the highlights , was this because of the len’s ?
Two rolls of Portra 800 is next year’s Royal Navy budget.
😂
@Joseph // Or this year’s heating budget for Buckingham Palace. ;-)
Portra 800 @ 400 is great. The grain is also very fine for 800 and I see no need to shoot Portra 400 honestly
I'll stick to Portra 800 for the foreseeable future. It's also easier to find these days.

Over exposed Portra 800 is my favourite film.
It's more versatile and I like the look when overexposed 1-2 stops.
Did you calibrate your copy of the lens?
Jep. Ich schätze auch, dass in diesen Gestellen einmal Gasbehälter waren. Sog. Gasometer.
Film in color are well contrasted, sometimes i found digital too fade
I think you would be much better off with a Canon 28/2.8 ltm plus ltm to M adapter.
How did it feel shooting with the leica again? It had been a while.
Shooting the M6 is always exicitng. It's like coming home... 😀
Structural frames from old gas storage tanks

The history of street photography is full of American photographers shooting in the US. Especially New York...
Those are natural gas tank container
