I spent almost 10 years picking up my grandson from school…although I’m in my 70,s…we went to the park and ran and played for 3 hours…then they moved…I can feel him slipping away…I’m sure I will be forgotten by him…he was a big part of my life…..dad died when I was 9…mom had Alzheimer’s…my brother who just passed thanksgiving day last year, after being in a vet’s home since 1972 from a motorcycle accident…lost his voice.. but was always happy to see me …..now I’m getting close to the rainbow bridge….god…I miss my pets….bless you all!

My grandparents passed almost 20 years ago. Their memories are still strong even though they are long gone. One set of grandparents lived 4 hrs away, & I only got a chance to see them a few times/year. The other lived 30 min. away & I got to see them more often. My life today is filled with fond memories of my time with them & I don't try to "hold on," even more I've "let them go" into the great beyond. Most importantly I've worked hard to develop a relationship with my SELF, this is the only thing that matters, & when everyone is gone, we all will be forgotten, you're immortal spirit & consciousness carries on to the next realm & will carry you through this life & provide everything you feel like you're missing from the lost connection to your family. This is where the eternal pot of gold is at. Find a way that resonates with you to establish & strengthen this connection with in. God speed my friend!

When I had a small restaurant, I did inventory every morning and could tell within 20 minutes to within a few dollars if my help were stealing. It was a fast-food hot dog and sandwich joint. I counted the paper cups, bowls, and other serving materials. People steal and sometimes they justify it when they see you making a lot of money. You must be the one to sign every check for all those businesses and go over all the invoices and ferret out the companies that are doing kickbacks. You have got know your prices. You were too trusting, but you learned a valuable lesson. Trust no one and verify everything. Enjoy life. I too was once a millionaire by age 45, I retired and enjoyed it while I still had my health. I am now 75 and still healthy because I eliminated stress at my retirement age and lived frugally but sensibly. I enjoyed your videos, we can all learn from others.

I have a friend who owned a coffee shop. After years of being profitable, he stopped working there so much (enjoying life). Then his profits started disappearing. I told him to spend 1 week there (long hours) in the shop and see if the money reappears. He wasn't willing to do it. He went bankrupt.
I have had my own business, doing everything myself, for 30 years. One thing I know is that every dollar ended up in my pocket. No disagreements with partners either.

I once ran a restaurant and my chef took the entire crew to his new restaurant he was putting together. The one person that left that surprised me was Jack the Dishwasher. A month earlier Jack got paid, went out and lost his wallet and his entire paycheck that I cashed for him before he left the building. I thought we were at least friendly. I heard about it and I gave him another paycheck, because I felt bad for him and I just thought it was the right thing to do. Well, when Jack came to get his last paycheck after leaving me standing alone to run a full size restaurant I said "I thought we were friends?" Jack said "you thought wrong." Stone cold face, filled with hate I guess. It was pretty shocking. That said, I didn't let it stop me from trying to help people if I'm able. So I got that going for me.

Yes. Not only do evil people outnumber good people, but their eagerness and ability to do harm often exceeds that of good people to do good. A good person might buy you lunch, give you an encouraging word, or even lend you money for a down payment on a used car. Meanwhile, bad people will cheat you in business, as this video shows. When you help them, they stab you in the back and grab your money.

Feels like no good deed goes unpunished sometimes BUT I press on, I learn yet again, and got closer to Christ in the process, I'm going to be fine and so are you brother. I say all of this to say at the end of the day, it isn't about how much money you do or don't have, but it also isn't about how many days you spent in the sun, at the beach (i love those days myself). It's about who you are, and how you treat people, and your attitude towards God. That's all there is at the end, you can't take it with you regardless.

Be careful here. Publicly defaming your old business partners could result in a civil lawsuit. Even if it's all true!
It's smart to precede any negative comments about others with "In my opinion... ."
That way it's not a defaming "statement of fact" that might wind up in court.
I know it feels good to call them out, but always ask yourself, "What do I have to gain, and what do I have to lose?"

I was on my death bed in my early 30's, I'm 39 now. Surgeons saved my life after multiple operations.
Never viewed life the same after that. (for the better).
My bank account never came to visit me in the hospital. My family and friends did though.
Two of the most valuable commodities I learned in my own experience:
    - Relationships
    - Time
*The only reason I go for certain money anymore is to purchase more of my time.

Never thought your story was bs for a second. You come across as very credible. One thought I had is that yours is like the many stories of musicians who are focused on something deeper and get mauled by venal managers. Like what happened to The Beatles and Brian Wilson. But as you say, "Who's winning really? They're in business and I'm at the beach". Plus you have a good marital relationship and have grown kids. Also you notice nature, no corrupt businessman would see that - it's not worth money.

I'm about your age, and nearly same shit show story of trusting staff that would never steal from yah. When you go through covid, theft, deception of people that you cared about but it wasn't reciprocal it puts your soul in a deep depression. 5 years and I'm still in business not sure how I climbed out but it happened I had to stay in cause the books and records were so bad I didn't know what I had to sell or even pay my taxes. I bring all this up because I just watched a complete stranger walking down the beach talking about my life, my exact thoughts, like living 20 years and out, just like watching a short movie of my life and what I have been thinking. You could travel around the country talking to what has to be thousands of business owners that the same things have happened to them. Great post for many reasons for sure..
