I was verbally ASSAULTED and threatened physically by this mother! Lawn Care Australia

- Lawn care in Australia is not without challenges. I'm not used to being accosted on the job by angry parents, but it happened on this day! She was pretty cute though, so I didn't let it get to me too much :)

(psst, it was a really angry animal, not a human! #ironic_clickbait

Hi friends, thanks for the continued support!
People often ask how they can help me with my work, but can't commit to a Patreon subscription. Watching and sharing my videos is more than enough of a contribution, however if you are someone who would like to help fund one of my 'free' clean up jobs without signing up to anything, I now have a 'Buy Me a Coffee' page. You can donate $5 or more if this is something which interests you :) www.buymeacoffee.com/bladematelL
Kind regards
Sean
I was only yesterday explaining how plovers build their nests like idiots to my 7yr old who was being chased on the way to school. Now I can show her this video. Thanks Sean 😊👍🇦🇺
Love that you are in tune with the animals. Always an adventure with you. Thanks so much. PS. GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR.
Thanks for watching!
Awe, poor Mama. I could feel her anxiety. Thank you so much for being so compassionate towards our beautiful, feathered, creatures. I personally, prefer to share the company of animals...over most people. ❤❤❤
No need to apologise for the filming quality your phone did a great job. Don’t understand the negative comments at all - I suppose you can’t please everyone all the time just ignore them and keep doing the fantastic work that you do.
No wonder the birds are endangered, the way they build their nests exposed on the ground like that. Thanks for accommodating them. Wish I could find a person like you to help me with my grounds. You are very efficient and thorough and intelligent about the work.
The masked lapwing is NOT endangered.
The international union for the conservation of nature claims their population is of least concern.
@@zakaruahbones3142 "Plovers are a protected species under the provisions of the Queensland Nature Conservation Act 1992."
@@bennybooboo6789 protected, but not endangered.
I do the same with the rabbits and turkeys. I work around them. My yard is like a sanctuary for the animals. We have moose, fox, rabbits, turkeys, bears, coyotes, deer and wolfs that come into the yard. We have water and trees on the land to give them. protection for the elements.
Where TF do you live? Lol
That's quite the impressive lineup of visitors. Wish I had that much wildlife in my yard!
you are blessed to have visited by god's creatures. you are the chosen one.
R conn... U thief I wanted to make the same comment 🥺😭😂😂
Wow, wish I could visit you!
@@rconn4501 I live in the north
You sure were harrassed by an angry mother and she was having no trouble letting you know she didn't care for your lawn service. Great job, from South Dakota.
😂
Loved this video Sean. So much fun to see an example of Australian birds. They were incredible and so protective of their nest. What brave and loving parents they were to keep after you the whole time. Thanks for sharing!
That was an awesome treat and so much fun to watch. A very rare moment that you stopped and filmed for us. Thank you. Loved every minute of it. Got a chuckle out of the title. Brilliant tongue in cheek. 👍👍👍👍👍
This was a good video I’m glad you took the time to video of your mowing this yard. Not ever seen anything like that before glad you didn’t get hurt and you treated the birds with respect. Hope you have a great day and looking forward to seeing in the next video. Take care and stay safe.
Steve
Thanks Steve, and you!
The understandably angry parents did not give you a moment of quite. They did a great job of keeping you in line Sean. 😉
I was verbally assaulted and threatened physically by this mother! And backed up by the dad. !
@@susanritchie4921 😂
I’ve been attacked by Blue Jays. I think they are territorial as well. But their nests are usually in trees.
I see the title of the video and I am all ready to defend Sean. Then I see birds with spurs and I think nope, Sean is on his own. Great video, as always!
Fair enough haha
You're on your own Sean Hahahah! Hang tuff! lol!
All the animals in Oz seem to go the extra mile. Plovers with spurs on them, gezz....
Same hahaha
I know!!
I thought some crazy 'Karen' was going to come raging at him 🤣
I very much enjoyed your tactical deployment where you kept maximum distance. Top work!
We had a cat once who got too close to a bluebird nest, and the parents dive bombed him every time he set a paw outside after that. We called them Goodness and Mercy, because they followed him all the days of his life. 😀
I sure hope the clients warned you in advance about those birds. That’s a bit of an unpleasant surprise if you weren’t aware … seriously, those wings! Great job handling them.
LOL
This was great to show! You can even tell when you are out of their “personal space”. Plovers actually stop making that threat noise once they feel you are a safe distance away from their babies. They give plenty of warning to back it up before actually attacking it any way. This was a fantastic example that we can easily co-exist with them if we are listening.
We have the same kind of birds here in Argentina and we called them “tero” for the sound they make. And they have the spurs and they make their nests in the ground like yours do. And some people like them in their yards because they are better than a guardian dog when someone walks in the yard (like you experienced) hehe
Pahaha, you really got me there. 😂 I really thought there was a person getting at you for cutting someone‘s lawn. Aww cute mummy, and good job for her protecting her babies. Also good job for you staying so calm, not destroying the eggs and handling it so well. I would have probably yelled back or run away screaming. 😄
@@maggiemae9099 excellent thought. 😄👍
That was cool! Mamma bird kept you in check but in the end she wasn’t buzz bombing you anymore! Great job as always. 👍🏻❤️
Yes she did!!
One of the most brutal species in Australia, the mother birb.
Keep up the good work.you are a kindhearted man ❤, we need more people like you💯💯
Beautiful job! Thought at first I was watching an Alfred Hitchcock movie with those birds. You have a big heart and your patience was greatly appreciated. Thank you for being considerate and kind hearted. God bless
Fortunately those "parents" chose a back yard for nesting and not some place near a drive way. Hope that after Sean 's intervention those birds got extra worms or any other insect. So thanks again Sean for a good video. Love Australian birds so double blessings ❣🙌🏅
So glad you were careful with the birds. You are a very kind person. ❤️
So awesome that you were able to get yard done and not disturb the eggs. Blessing to you for respecting the wild life.
Hahahahahaah! Seeing that angry mama would’ve been a big ‘NOPE’ from me. I’d probably still try to do my job but I’d be yelping every few minutes. You’re a champ Sean, as always 💪🏻
Those birds knew they couldn't kill you but they were doing everything else they could to keep you away from their nest. Great job Sean.
I love you even more. Not only are you good to humans but wild life too. My hero.
You got me! 😂 I thought it was a human Mom. Any great Mom defends her children. Maybe not by diving at you. So adorable! 😂😂
Having been bombarded by both bluejays and robins while mowing my yard, i guessed it. However neither of these breeds of bird had half as impressive of beak as yours and those claws on their wings would have had me building a fence shielding their nest to pacify the parents. Thank you for including this video. It is my favorite critter video of yours with the waterway clean up you and your wife did. Your birds are so different from those in the USA. It is a joy to see you respecting yet showing them. Thank you for sharing!!
Our birds here in the states don't come with shanks...I'm still surprised they have survivors in Australia. I wouldn't have made it this long. Spider, snake, shank bird...something would have gotten me by now. 😂
@@DaveBaldwin1 hahah should look up cassowaries, very scary birds
Sean that was a awesome video and your such a caring guy making sure you were treating the parents and babies with respect. I was surprised to see the nest right on the lawn and never knew they did that. Great yard job as usual and I love watching your videos . ❤
Nice to see how much you care and the bird parents are very protective
Here in the States we call them Killdeer.(Kildere) The problem is them nest on the ground. They puff up their chest like they are going to take on JD every year...I have flowers they can put their nest around/in whatever they have to do. Crazy birds...Then we have the ones the swoop down on you when walking across the lawn..
I kept wondering where her nest was! LOL. Right there on the ground! Wow!! Also, beautiful yard. You always do an exceptional job. 👍🏼❤️
That was very nice of you to treat the bird the way you did, and I really enjoy watching your videos
Thank you very much!
i have had lapwings nesting on my 5 acre property for the 20 years i've been near Maryborough Vic.
sadly i've only seen them hatch 3 times, they nest near the house which affords protection from the foxes, but at about a month old they move the chick toward the back of the property and they are simply gone one morning, i presume foxes get them.
my dogs have always been protective of the birds, but i don'/t leave them outside all night.
i just adopted a 6 year old border collie x maremma, so maybe he will protect the chicks this year.
Great job. Glad you worked around the angry mom with out getting flat out attacked by the two of them. Cool to see some Australian wildlife.
Love the title and the video! Thanks for sharing this experience and for being so thoughtful of the birds. Keep up the good work. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
No matter what kind of yardage you do it's always the best
I forgot to mention, I love your music. It is the only music I can stand out of all the videos. Says even more about your good character.
Absolutley loved the respect you gave to the wild life well done
I beleve they are excited to see you. Look at them walking around with the wings out, showing you the state of the yard :-) "Look at this! About time you got here!"
Love it!!
You are a wonderful person, thank you for the care you took in not hurting the birds or there nest. God will reward you for all you do. Have a good day bro, ✌️
OMG. You got me. 😁 That mini prehistoric pterodactyl wouldn’t give up. You could hear her above the equipment. Another great job!👍
Sean, you’re a brave man mowing near that nest. Glad you were persistent,& able to complete the job. Until seeing this video, I wouldn’t have ever thought about this happening. I have seen bees nest, but never dive bombing mama birds. Thanks for sharing this interesting video. Stay safe, healthy, and productive.😱💯👏🏾🙋🏽♀️✝️🙏🏾🇺🇸
She was not happy with you there.....but respected her and her nest. Great work Sean!
You're still a Rock Star! We love you!!!
Ha ha great video. I have never seen plover bird spurs so thank you for the close up. They have the cutest babies.
You can't keep all critters happy Sean, especially when there's work to be done 😉
I felt so bad for those birds! They were so stressed the whole time you were there! 😊 It looked like an Alfred Hitchcock movie! 🤣🤣 Great job keeping your head! 👍❤
Oh my goodness you’re so brave to mess with mean wild Mama & Daddy birds🥹. I can see both sides of this picture and sure don’t envy you on this one!
The nursery looks great another fabulous job! Safe safe😊
I have a thing about birds. I would have been freaking out. You’re very brave
Thank you for being so caring towards our wildlife ❤ another great video 😊
Sean, if you ever find a flying fox hanging low, on ground etc... please call Meggabattie (or her crew) and she/they will come get the bat, or micro bat... I think the organization is called wires (???)
if that happens, please do a joint video with her. 😃
That was quite the protective mother there she didn't care how big you were and how many tools you had she was going to fight you off no matter what but you did a good job not disturbing them I think can't wait to see the big video coming great job my friend watch out for those birds they'll get you every time 👍☺️
Can't wait to know the actuall story😊
Thanks for sharing. Learned something new today.
So funny! Reminded me of the blue jays that used to knock my grandpa's hat off his head when I was little.
Hi Sean, this is why I like your channel you are not just kind to the elderly but to these beautiful animals and the world needs more people like you 🙌
Luckily the world already has excellent and kind, caring loving people all over. That’s why people are always thankful for the help they need or people help and care out of the kindness of their heart. 😁
Good job Sean. I have to do the same maintaining my yard and working around and doing my best not to disturb morning doves nesting. 👍🏻
Amazing! We definitely don't have that kind of bird here in Canada.
The mother's protecting her babies. Well done working around her and then getting out fast so she's not overstressed❤️❤️
Unfortunately man has encroached on their habitat and they are forced to lay their eggs where they feel is safe for their young to grow. I am glad you were able to mow the lawn with little effect from Momma or Poppa! Thanks for sharing.
Great video buddy. Nice to see a normal cut with other than normal circumstances. Very much enjoyed it.
What a trip......and I was just about to ask you to show more of the natural side of things you see. I totally loved this one, it was a wonderful treat. Cheers from Texas
Nice job avoiding the 🕊️🐔 nest the lawn looks great 👍
Lovely job and so nice to see the wildlife too xx
Plover parents are quite fearsome in defending their home/eggs etc... Love is a many splendid event, give them the peace they seek... Peace, Love and Light...
I appreciate that you take the time to pull the weeds from that back garden!
Lol 😆 that is so awsome to see these birds protecting their nest. Thank you for having the biggest heart to protect the nest. Thanks for sharing.
Oh my you are dealing with a serious issue. You are so calm for the birds
Bless you Sean. You did your utmost, to complete the work, as quickly as possible, to minimise the stress for the mother. Sorry I was late to the party!!! Rough day!!! Hope all good with you guys and I’ll look forward to seeing your next presentation 🌟🌟🌟
I love this video. Thank you for sharing.
Always a fun day being dive bombed! LOL Glad she didn't decide to fully attack! Great job, Sean!
A hospital I used to work at had plovers nesting in one of the green spaces. The gardener used to wear a full face helmet when he mowed that quadrangle (ride on mower) and left a good metre around the nest. Once they pick a nest site, they come back year after year.
Oh, Sean, I believe that, even with your kind demeanor, those parents were quite upset. Still, when you were through, I'm sure they were pleased with the results.
That was funny! This world can use all the humor it can get right now.
You even weeded the gardens! Great job!
May I make a suggestion? Cover the nest to protect the eggs from the whipper snipper's possible rock spray.
If you could purchase one of the fabric dome covers for food. (Collapsing string pull to open white mesh type)
For the few minutes it takes to do that area of lawn, it would protect the nest temporarily and also work like a wet floor sign making its placement more clearly visible. Can take it off quickly after that area.
Can keep it in the truck for the next time since its small and foldable.
Thank you for being patient with the birds. Hope you tell the place about them, maybe they can block off part of the yard or something
haha, the client told me about them. I suspect that's why I got a call on Friday afternoon, because no one else would take the job
Nicely Done Sean.
Really great video! Thank you for showing that respect for wildlife still exists. When will the mating season be over? Australia may have some rules and laws that we think are a nuisance but I’m glad to see such precautions taken regardless of regulations. Wish we had stronger wildlife protection laws here in the US. We used to but over the last couple of decades that have been eroded quite a bit!! Can’t wait for the next one!!
Thanks mate. Breeding season is mainly in the spring
Awesome Sean as always xx❤️❤️
Listening to this while outdoors sweeping leaves around/from my outside courtyard! It's good to see another video! Gotta go! It's fall in Montana!! 💕💕
Enjoy!
@@BladeMateLawnCare Why, thank you, sir!! Actually, the cleaning around the courtyard is done. Just taking a break before filling up the leaf and lawn bags!! They have pumpkin faces on the front!! 🎃🎃💕
Thanks Sean, really needed that laugh
Nice work, can’t wait for the big job!
Bless Mama's little heart. 😄
I was totally stressed out for those birds. I know they were stressed as well. Then I was stressed about them attacking you. Very stressful video. 😉 Thanks for sharing.
haha classic! I wasnt expecting the old plover! Man they are agressive little birds thats for sure!
Those birds have good sized talons about midpoint on their wings. I don't envy you having to watch out for THOSE things, Sean! LoL
You gave us a nature film. Was waiting for Steve Irwin (rip) to come and join in on the adventure. Thank you for this upload. You got me by hello....errr...I mean angry mom.
Great video, keep up the great work!! 😊
that was a refreshing video and the mum kept you in line well done Sean (was a bit worried at first with this one because of the title but laugh when it started ) xx
Our local doctors/medical centre/ small hospital had masked lapwings nesting alongside the road entry, swooping was non stop until someone (maybe the lawn care person) placed a square of 4 x 4 timber around the nest. When mum was on the nest she was resting almost hidden by the timber and everyone could see where the nest was and avoid it. Dad patrolled the area but with much less swooping since the nest wasn’t in danger any more
Awe so glad you filmed that. The trials of a gardener eh. Thanks! Looking forward to the next one! 😊
Ps.. love that you pull the stray weeds out of the garden beds as well .
Thanks again!
Poor baby she was worried for her babies and it is understandable, love all animals and as this earth is for all of us it is good to respect them to. Thanks for sharing this amazing video.
I always keep a little zip lock bag of dried mealworms as a peace offering to any birds around baby season, it also doubles as a hedgehog feast lol
Great job, interesting video with the plovers.
And I thought videoing around my neighbors was difficult. Lol! Very interesting video Sean. Great job.
Thank you sean for looking out for wildlife and animals its lovely to see. We have plovers make nests even in busy car parks here certainly not the brightest lol
