Thanks for sharing. I'm trying to remove this cover on a 2018 kx250f. The cover is loose on the right side near the water pump, but on the left side near the kick shaft seal it feels stuck. Would you have any advice on removing it? Just got it! The upper left alignment pin was seized.
James, sorry to hear it happened to you. It's obviously a weak design, as many are experiencing the same problem. Still waiting on the cases to arrive in mail.
What was the final cost of the repair? I have a 2016 that won't stay in fifth gear. Shifts OK 1 through 4 but fifth it just pops out or doesn't seem to want to go into fifth? Any idea? Was thinking maybe this would be the same but is just cracked not broken off yet.
Same thing here 2005 KX250F, someone tried to weld repair this one at one point also. Worth buying new cases and risking same break in the future again?
Hey man I have a 2019 kx250f with less than 4 hours on it and it’s smoking blue white smoke when I first turn on the bike and rev it But 4 minutes later the bike is warmed up and I could rev it and it’s all good. And also when riding it no smoke comes out Should I worry about it or not

That pin is called a spring anchor. I got a drz400 and went to dealer and wanted to get a replacement part but they cant find the part number for it.Are ther any other dirtbikes that uses the same anchor spring bolt.reason for replacement parts cause i have a over selection of gears.Transmission is fine.
When It comes to case bolts short or long . Don't worry . All bolts when in the right hole will be sticking out a 1/4 inch when put in the right hole . If it sticks way out its the wrong bolt for that hole . Easy hack so don't worry about marking what bolt came from what hole .
It will be nice to find some videos that goes straight to the point without a long story about this and that....

Just got it! The upper left alignment pin was seized.
Put your thumb on kick shaft and try pulling it off straight.

The pin snapped w/o damage to case? What year?

I'd get the correct manual, there are slight differences for sure.

Not sure what year you have. The 06' in video has 2 that are trapped between the case halves.

thats what happens when you stomp it into 1st gear all the time i see some utubers are famous for it ,its nothing short of abuse and a costly repair
