    ...ah...my signal whips crack just fine, granted the crack is softer (but that's because the tail comes to a fine point). You're on the right track, I figured out you have to slim down the back end to create the proper balance between heel and tail, so that the RATE of taper is more uniform along the length of the whip. If you just make a snake whip and then put a cracker loop on the end, that's not going to work as well, for sure.

      Well it isn't so much that Signalwhips don't crack, but they tend to be quite jerky and not very nice handling from a cracking perspective. Again, in my opinion.
      They do the thing people tends to use them for just fine tho.

      @@WitchcraftWhips Well, I dunno, Johnny. I just finished building a 3.5ft hybrid signal whip, and it throws and cracks just fine, and is very accurate. It's quite fast, to be sure, but that's because it's really short--all short whips will be like that, not just signal whips. If you want to do target work, a signal whip will give you an advantage, even a short one. If you want to do trick volleys, like TRex and Adam Winrich, then obviously you'd want a longer whip.
