I love how the oldest and the vintage yet simple cheap noodle ones work the best. Really shows you don’t need to spend so much time and effort and money to get nice curls. When I was little my aunt used to put those on my head overnight before Christmas and holidays so I would have curly hair. It was pure joy 😂
Can someone put a link to buy these noodles for your hair?

I've been braiding my hair in French braids like that for almost 10 years, the waves last me 2-3 days and it looks fantastic and is so easy to do and sleep in. Braids are the #1 way to go, trust me.
Same here
Do you use French braids or Dutch?
@@KAR0519 I suggest a little damp ,and it depends how thick your hair is ,and how tight you want you curls the bigger the braids the looser the curl .
@@Rachel-ys5em I recommend French braids (easier to sleep in, and they curl the hair away from your face), and for looser waves just do one braid. It was my preferred look when I had very long hair
same, i only ever do 2 dutch braids, and the curls are always amazing, and they last for a few days and i don't even hairspray it

Mia: The cutest human on the internet.
As a black woman with kinky hair, I was really excited to see her experience with some of these methods that are staples in the natural hair community. 😊
The blue ones she referred to as pool noodles, what are those called? It sucks she didn't list the products in the description box.
@@Harlow_Khmer Curl Formers or Wave Formers (depending on the shape you're going for). They're pricer than some generic brands you can find online, but they're the best quality. Or so I've heard.
@@KarjianaCadet thnx love! ❤️😘😍
@@Harlow_Khmer OMG. I just realized I told you the wrong thing 😬! The "pool noodles" are Flexi Rods. They're super cheap and you can get them just about anywhere (Dollar Store, Beauty Supply Store, etc.). They come in different sizes. They create great curls when they properly set, but they're super uncomfortable to sleep in. I'd recommend using a hooded dryer or whatever drying device you use.
May I just say, judging by your profile picture, you are so beautiful! I just wanted to get that out there.
I do the “miniature pool noodle” one often and always get so many compliments on it. I’m also watching this with braids that I slept on overnight lol. That’s my favorite method cause it’s so quick

Am I still gonna watch the video? Yes
hear me out, when she has the pink pop socket like ones in, her hair looks so cute shorter and with bangs!!!
I’m late but what are they called??
@@navi177 They're called Spoolies. They were invented back in the 50s for women so it was easier to create pin curls without bobby pins, you'd typically leave them in overnight. Probably better for shorter/medium length hair (since that is the length they were originally made for) but if you have longer hair just look around to see what people say!
I like doing the robe technique with parting the hair in two around the robe and going in opposite directions, pretty much like a french braid. The braids are more pronounced, in different directions and super nice! Also I do it in completely dry hair - doesn't need to be damp!
For the second technique I would recommend trying it on damp or dry hair. I tried this technique on wet and dry hair but with a sock and I got amazing bouncy curls when I did it with dry hair.

Ok im gonna get it
I'm just want to properly inform you those "flexi rods" are called perm rods and was literally invented and patent by black people in the 60's. I just wanna show your how easily black people inventions are taken and not properly credited. And that not the only style of perm rods. Like I said this is not bashing just informing
@@sevonalexander3653 hey! I’m Black too and you’re WRONG. Perm rods are totally different than flexi rods and are used for a completely different hairstyle. Flexi rods are used for heartless curls, whereas perm rods are most commonly used in perms... hence the name. Look up the definition of perm rods vs. flexi rods. In this video Mia is using FLEXI RODS (that’s why they bend..flexi.. flexible-rods). Educating others is find but make sure your information is factual. Again not bashing just informing ♥️
Ma’am I know you are black. That’s the reason why I commented under you. But if we actually talk about research. The “flexi rods” are actually called perm rods under the 1965 patent. When flexi rod name was by a white stylist who wanted to distinguish the two perm rods. Both items were patented under the same name and have the very similar design for a reason. I just trying get the word out because the black community is pushing more for gatekeeping. And we can’t do that if we’re not informed on everything
Me having natural curly hairs, ironing them then doing heatless curls just like an idiot 😂😂😂😂
Wow 👏
mmy hair is soo frizzy
Omg that's literally me.
Cuz I have natural curly hair but it is so random and weird and frizzy so I'm gonna have to use heat to straighten it anyways XD
My hair’s curly
It’s frizzier when I blow dry it. It’s also straighter when I repeatedly dry and brush it until it’s not wet.
It’s curlier when it dries naturally and frizzier when I use a hair dryer.
Rn it’s a curly mess because it hasn’t been brushed 😳😬🤫
Same😂
I can barely sleep with my nose stud in, IMAGINE sleeping in those hair noodles
I think they're pretty soft and cushiony... as somebody with the biggest nest of frizzy, tight curls, I've slept in hard plastic curlers before to get my hair LESS curly (believe it or not) and that is not fun
I have those and they are super annoying to sleep with (in my opinion). I usually have to wake up in the middle of the night and just take them out cause it hurts.
Better than the curlers on the plastic rods. I practically grew up sleeping in curlers. 😳
I literally used to curl my hair with like kitchen paper/kitchen towels (idk what it's called in english) when I wanted corkscrew-like-curls and sleep in it 🤣 idk I could have the most ridiculous stuff in my hair and I would still be able to sleep. On the first one your hair wasn’t wet enough for them to hold the wave
Got curly 4 type hair but just here for the content
French braiding is the only way I curl my hair. My hair doesn’t hold curls, and French braiding holds SOOO GOOD.

But now I do it after I shower and it can stay for 4-6 days (my hair gets VERY oily) if taken care of properly (aka covered in dry shampoo).
"Pro tip" use a airplane pillow at night when you're sleeping. That way your neck doesn't hurt and the rollers aren't jabbing your brain. I have a memory foam airplane pillow
not jabbing your brain 😂😭
I would say start with dry hair and use a spray bottle, you have really long thick hair that will NEVER dry. I have tHicK hair and it never sets overnight when wet.
Miaaaa if your hair is still wet then it will fail ANY curling technique!! I have straight as an arrow hair like you so I know the struggle. I think that ribbon method if your hair was dried probably would’ve worked great! (I think I’d opt to wrap it into a singular bun for more comfort lol)
I’m honestly surprised how her hair is so bea and healthy after seeing how she’s brushing it 😭
Wait this is making me question how I’m brushing my hair 😳😳 what is she doing wrong
@@pingoo9680 Brushing your hair is a big reason for hair falling out, when you do it roughly you are straining the hair and pulling on it too much.

For the french braid waves - I love to do one dutch braid, starting at the very front of my hairline, down the center like a mohawk and all the way down to the tips on my hair. Lovely waves!
In conclusion, if you want curls you should get mini pool noodles and if you want waves you should get mama maples (to french braid your hair).
me: I have curly hair and getting annoyed by it
mia: so desperate for curly hair
me: getting so happy and suddenly liking my hair more lol
the overnight robe tie curls work super well! youre actually supposed to have the section of your hair by your face moving away from your face, and the back section wrapping around it toward your face. think of it like a braid, with the ribbon as the third section, but instead of just swapping the hair piece to the opposite side like you would in a braid, wrap it around all the way so that the pieces of hair are always on their own original side of your head
it also works best if you use two ribbobs that cross in an "x" shape on the top of your head if you have a LOT of hair like mia does. hers didnt turn out because she had too much hair all together and it didnt have a chance to dry properly. i also dont recommend wrapping them into those buns at the end either
That second try (haven't gotten further than that in the video yet) actually made me feel so good! All we ever see with these types of videos are the ones that turn out beautiful and flawless! And because of your transparency we got to see that it ain't always like that 😂 thanks for being so open and honest with us😊

Honestly, Mia is such a genuine person. Like she is so sweet and kind and you can tell. I dunno, watching her videos just make me feel such a pure sense of joy. 😊
I have waist length hair and I only use about 3 of those flexi rods (mini pool noodles) to get really nice big curls. Works amazing and it's so easy and fast to do.
People : you already have wavy hair why are you watching a video on how to curl / wave your hair heatlessly
Me : why are you even asking it’s Mia maples
Did anyone count how many times she said “technique”
also, if you want waves like the first one, you can just put all of your hair in a few braids while it’s wet or damp. it has a more crisp result, and it’s usually faster (depending on your hair length and thickness)
If you want to get heatless curls a bit faster, you can do a french braid on dry hair and then spray it with detangling spray. It dries much faster than water and your hair feels really soft when you're done. It would probably work with a few of the other tools as well, as long as the detangler can reach all of the hair that you want to curl. I started doing it with Suave Kids' detangler spray, which I think works the best, but I've also tried other detanglers as well.
I'm going to say this because it changed my heatless curl plan for life. SOCK CURLS. My hair is too long for all of the store bought options I've found to work well, so when i want more than french braid waves, socks work the best. There are different techniques, but my favorite is I take the sock, wrap a chunk of hair down it with the toes of the sock at the top, and then I hold the ends in place while I fold the rest of the sock up over the curl. Grab a hair tie and fasten the sock closed, and repeat for the rest of your head. They're cheap, easy, fast, and your hair stays in the sock so nothing unravels in your sleep. You can use whatever size sock you need to for your length of hair, and they're much more comfortable to sleep on than most options. I've also found that they give me the most consistent results, no matter how wet my hair starts out. Just putting it out there. Sock curls are up there right next to braids. Sorry for the long explanation.

No, Mia, don't cut your hair!
Mia discovering flexi-rods AKA miniature pool noodles is a mood 🥰🥰🥰
I wish I could have used these products before I chopped all my hair off, but my hair is so freakin thick that I found I would have to buy 3 or 4 sets of one style just to do all my hair. The cost of that was not worth it.
The blue pool noodle thingies we call them "bigudies" (at least in Spain!) and I remember seeing them in my home since I was little (I'm 32 y/o btw) my sister's hair is super straight while mine's super curly, she wanted volume so desperately and I just wanted to straighten mine all the time lol
Omg the first noodles looks so uncomfortable to sleep with, it would give me MAJOR anxiety lol
They are designed to give you permanent curls when you add a perm
They're super uncomfortable. If you're not a stomach sleeper, good luck. The good thing is that your hair actually dries really fast in them. So if you're going somewhere, you could always do them like 2-3 hours before you need to go. I highly suggest having your hair be damp though. Not wet wet, but a lot more damp than Mia had it.
I used to wear tinier versions of them and could sleep pretty well on them.
