I tear up each time I hear this song from her. I find it beautiful and a bittersweet remembrance of those who fought for freedom. This song was commissioned by The Netherlands in 1965, their 20th Anniversary of liberation. Many towns and villages still to this day remember the American and British soldiers who died as they tend to the cemeteries of soldiers.
@@dale5497 incorrect. Both the US and the UK played a part in the liberation of the Netherlands. There is documented proof as far as records of troop movements to indicate this.
@@BasilPunton Not exactly true....the British, Canadian and Polish forces liberated much of the eastern and northern provinces, while the Americans liberated the southern provinces.
Arguing over who liberated who is futile and degenerates the memories of the brave men who did the fighting. Our countries fought shoulder to shoulder, learn from their examples.
I've listened toMelissa ever since I hear her beautiful sound when she was with Andre Rieu. As a Vietnam Veteran, her mellow music with El Silenzio is almost haunting and gives me pause to remember all of the veterans for many years before me and after me. I saw the words to this tune, but when I prepare for my evening prayers each night, I love listening to her as her El Silenzio becomes entrancing. When I hear the music, I feel it equates to praising our Lord. Something like "Bless you and Praise you my Lord," over and over again. It relaxes me and calms me down and most importantly prepares me for my nightly meditation and prayers. Thank you Melissa. I hope you are feeling better. His Peace always. Don
I first saw you perform with Andre Rieu and was moved by your performance then. And, of course, I'm moved by this performance as well. My husband and I have visited the cemeteries in The Netherlands several times! The extent The Netherlands goes to remember those who lost their lives in battle so many years ago is truly impressive to witness! Thank you!
Melissa, Does an Excellent Version of IL Silenzio, I have listen to the Original 1965 Version on RUclips, By Nini Rosso... (I'm not talking about "TAPS")..
This "Silence" music played by a very young Melissa Venema is a wonderful tribute to those who died for "Your and Our Freedom". There were also boys like Melissa. The silence of those who are dead is the opposite of the thunder of war. This silence expresses more than a voice. It is the despair, tears and helplessness of us who see wars. HONOR THEIR MEMORY.😢❤😢Eva Eva Eva
My Uncle lies dead jn a war grave in France. He was flying in the British Royal Air Force. I am in the UK. I no longer know what he died for ...........
@missiontent111 I know a bit of history from school. He certainly died in defense or liberation of France. Poles fought in various countries for liberation, and in England great Polish pilots fought. Wars are not good. That is why the music "Cisza" played by young Melissa Venema is so shocking and emphasizes the tragic meaning of war turmoil.🙂🙃🙂👋🏽❤️🌈Eva Eva Eva
A Beautiful tribute to all of our Veterans. God bless this wonderful girl whose inner and outer beauty touches one's heart every time she plays. Thank you. "Mike" Kelly
Unfortunately, there are events in the past that should not be forgotten. I hope you are consistent in this and your "don't forget" ends in 1945. That doesn't bring the murdered civilian population from Dutch Indonesia (1945-1950) and the victims from Srebrenica (1995-Thom Karemans) back to life, but it makes sense In my opinion, the key to not forgetting is to learn from it. Hopefully we can do that in Europe.
Thanks for honoring these respectable men with your trumpet performance! We love you Melissa
Always done professionally by young gifted Trumpet soloiist. Thank you Melissa.

You're forgetting the Canadians. The Canadian Army (not the UK or the US) liberated the Netherlands during WW2.

@@W8RIT1True. But the Canadian troops did the heavy lifting. UK and US were also runs.
