@Kay S got lumped as another wham( kind of) by the music press rather than a pop/ soul ish tears for fears that they should of ( in terms of quality) is what I always thought. Great Band, especially live.

Actually Go West was WAY ahead of its time! Their “sound” wouldn’t be copied until the early 2000..their songs are multi layered and it blew so many out of the water, but that’s why they were HUGE back in the day! You can hear their sound in a lot of groups now! MTV VJs have actually commented on why they weren’t a huge hit! Their videos were HUGE on MTV AND VH1! They said they use to talk about it all the time! I think what caused their popularity to sink was they only toured in USA in small venues, and I believe it was extremely small tour! They have been back in 35 years! If they had toured waaay more they would be a mega band..but only toured in the UK and abroad! I actually asked Peter why avoid the USA..he said even until this day they NEVER received an offer worth taking! But if they do it will be HUGE! I’ve been a fan since the beginning and Peter Cox and go west mean so much to me!

Listen to Go West from time to time, mainly for Alan Murphy's guitar playing. But they have great songs and the vocals are great. It's impressive to hear Peter Cox still singing so well. Loved the guitar playing in this live version, a nice tribute to Smurf (RIP)

If you are Jaz son…say hello from me…I used to regularly hound him in London in the late 80s trying to get the Go West Guitar Spot…..he was very nice to me….he may not remember me though. I still have his old landline number on my rolodex(also an old school contraption ;-))

Just subscribed Ben, but If I could make one suggestion, when playing with Go West on songs the very great Mr Murphy adorned, you probably need a floating bridge and a few hours of specific practice with it, but your live tone was great, rhythm and solo/fills. It must be great playing on those great songs and with great musicians and the fantastic voice of Mr Cox leading the singing. Very enjoyable.

Amazing performance! Is the footage taken at the same gig? I see the bass player playing 2 different basses.
At 00.07 seconds I can hear another chorused guitar playing cords (Ben is doing single note stuff), but Richard Drummie is not playing...
Is there another guitarist on stage that I haven't noticed? Mmmmmmm..

Awesome, Terry! I can assure you, Pete never mimes. One of the great things about playing guitar in Go West is hearing him give it everything, every show.
