I LOOVE Dave Aspery. I think he over emphasizes the dangers of toxins vs the benefits of nutrition in foods (I mean natural toxins), I think because of his past experiences and that makes sense for where he came from and went through, but I have a lot of faith the body can process out RIDICULOUS quantities of toxins when its supplied with the right building blocks and nutrition to do so. (I eat a cheap knockoff of bulletproof). I do think Dave is one of the most honestly genuine human beings putting himself in media. While I think he exaggerates some stories, I don't think he does it for hype, I think its just a natural human impulse. When I watch him talking I feel like he opens up and is so incredibly vulnerable, you can see his fatherhood, his geekiness, his genuine love for and desire to help people. (of course I don't know him, maybe he's just a really good actor, but I don't think so.) I think he's a beautiful person and look forward to seeing everything he does.
I just passed my 7th anniversary of keto and will soon have 5 years on Bulletproof. I am much healthier today in my mid 40's than I was in most of my 20's and all of my 30's. Standing up and working in a salon tends to make one not want to be on her feet after work, so for many years, I would get off work and go to have a drink with a friend and then dinner and then sit on a couch the rest of the night. The only exercise I would get then was having sex. As a former basketball, volleyball, softball, field hockey, and tennis player, I basically retired from sports after college, and I got a little soft and a lot out of shape. I only was ever 15 pounds overweight, but the Bulletproof Diet has done something for me that has never happened before--I am hardly ever hungry and often have to force myself to eat at 2 PM. And, it is has made me an addict to Bulletproof Coffee. I have gotten in such great shape that last Spring as a dare, I went to our local college that has renowned college softball teams and threw batting practice. I can still bring the heat and throw a mean drop and rise ball. I am old enough to be these girls' mother, and they couldn't believe I could still throw close to 70 mph.
Eskimos in tundra have no access to carbs . They never "refuel " on carbs . So its possible to live on high fat diet . Coz they do it . So please. Don't question ketogenic diets .
Personally, I think no diet is good for everyone. I know what foods make me feel the best, and I have been able to achieve ketosis with several diets. What I found important for me was the timing of eating, what I ate, and the timing of my exercise. BTW, I really enjoy your videos, HealthfulPursuits. I like that you speak from experience rather than just reading something and regurgitating what you read. Keep it up! :)
akshai k if i am not mistaken, studies also shown eskimos live shorter due to their diet and also circumstances of life. besides you can also live on bananas when it comes to stay alive. there a tons of people even on youtube who live for over 10 years mainly on fruits and carbs. but possibility doesn't make it the perfect diet. furthermore i think diet alone isn't the key, just like with the eskimos, it's the cumulation of your circumstances of life, environment and diet.
akshai k Sorry that you thought I haven't any experiences. I already did this diet. And not once. But everytime, after a week or so, I had to puke. I couldn't eat the fatty stuff anymore without feeling dizzy and nauseous. My stool was horrible. I felt horrible. Nevertheless I am curious about every type of nourishing lectures and videos, that's why I watched it in the first place to see if there are new informations I missed. But I feel free to question everything, especially when I made bad experiences or read critical scientific articles about it.
Kitty Kat Carbs will kill you. Research AGES / Advanced Glycation End Products. We've been conned for decades in to thinking saturated fat causes heart disease when it has been our high carb diets all along. Carbs cause your arteries to sludge up, this is proven fact. The science has finally gotten to the point where the proof is irrefutable, high carb diets will kill you. Carbs shorten your telomeres. No telomeres = cell death = you are dead.
Too many ignoramus comments below. I must tip the balance. I love your videos and I'm very happy that you had the balls to try the Ketogenic Diet, and especially happy about the positive effect on your hormones. I congratulate your for having an open mind. Extreme Bananas ignorant comment makes me want to punch him, but that would not be conducive to maintaining a placid mind, so I laugh at the thought, haha. I started Keto-adaptation back in August 2014, and I'm still learning. I personally find it easiest to just go no carbs at all, but I know it's important to fit in fibrous, nutritious veggies also, so I eat lotsa broccoli and some organic soup here and there and avocados, yay. I'm still coming to grips with how much butter and oil I have to add to meals to maintain a 75-20-5% of fat-protein-carbs, and also learning to adjust the protein with my activity levels... but you can feel it when you get it right! I started eating this way because I was tired of the ups and downs of carb addiction and bonking on long hikes, workouts and mtn bike rides. At this point, I'm very happy to ride for hours with only some water and a few handfuls of salty nuts, maybe some electrolytes in my h2o. Whereas before I had bad anxiety, depression, and I was overly aggressive, being more level and having slightly more mental energy (and therefore being less often annoyed) has really positively supplemented a long-term attitude adjustment. Of course, diet is only one piece of the puzzle, but a healthy body is a great foundation for a healthy mind. Anyway, thank you for your videos and your ideas and perspective and the shirt you wore for the first half of the video, not that I have anything against magenta.
I don't care if it's BAD for me. I lost weight and feel great! Lots of energy and a most positive outlook on life in general. Do wish I could afford to have done before and after labs done
You could just use coconut oil for all your cooking, which has MCTs, just less concentrate and save MCT oil for bulletproof coffee. That's what I'm doing to save money. I am also going to switch for brain octane for MCTs that are 3 times more concentrated than MCT oil. I just ordered it from Amazon. After my first bulletproof coffee - wow, did I ever sleep that night 8 hours later. It was an intense wonderful sleep.
How was your hunger? Did you ever feel famished? Did you crave sweets? How did you feel mentally speaking? Any sharper? I realize you are already at a point where you are pretty darn healthy, but just wondering if it got better for you? How was sleep? --These are things that are claimed to change for the better. Did you take any supplements?
I’m really down and disappointed in myself. I failed at keto after a month. I felt really great with zero carb cravings after the initial two weeks... then all of a sudden I had zero cravings for any of the food I was eating. I dreaded eggs, any kind of meat, anything super fatty... I found myself gagging at every meal. 😔 Was unintentionally IFing for half the day cuz I hated eating on keto. I was so weak, depressed, completely drained of all energy cuz I couldn’t bring myself to eat over 700cals a day. I gave up this diet two days ago and went back to eating carb heavy foods and all my digestive issues returned. I know HFLC is the way to go but all that money wasted on keto made me want to just throw all my progress away (I’m down 22lbs). This diet seems really up my alley, thank you for your insight 🥰
I appreciate the time you took to make this video. I will take several points you hit upon and research more in depth. I may buy the kindle version of the book for the recipes. Best of luck on your health journey!!!
Himalayan rock salt? The trace amounts of minerals you get with it are just that; trace amounts. Regular rock salt is just as viable an option and saves you money. Heck, iodized salt is a good option if your concern is electrolytes.
Thanks. Your review was very very helpful!!! Thanks so much!!! Now I am willing to attempt this. Great tip about the extra water and Himalayan salts...this is really positive.. so thank you!!
Thanks for sharing I enjoyed your video. I am 50 and have always stayed healthy and fit but I feel like I need a new strategy because my fat is up to 20% . I have tried the BPC and love it. I think I am going to try full Keto diet in beginning to get down to 10% fat then maybe experiment with a little more carbs. Tell me what your other Keto plan was? I'm also thinking about going with one of the keto diet apps and track my macros? Tell me what you think? Thanks again
very informative. I have found myself going high fat low carb bit by bit while Intermittent fasting and it came to my attention that there are various practices like ketogenic diet and bulletproof that claim brain benefits also. This video helped. I'd like to hear more about what your usual practice is and more about the cycles you implement. Thank you for sharing
Dear Leanne I believe I made this comment when I first found you a couple of months ago. I have come leaps and bounds since then all thanks to your Keto beginnings and Fat fuelled and your videos. I have lost ALL the excess weight I was carrying but above all I feel a million dollars; my mind, my sense of calm, my skin, my hair...ALL feeling absolutely fabulous AND my food is much higher quality while costing me less too. I can go on and on with how much change has taken place in my life since I found you. I have so much appreciation for you and your work that no words will ever be enough to covey it. I am grateful for you.. keep up the great work and Rock On you beautiful soul ❤
Thank you for the post. What I love to know about what is your general energy level, your alertness and muscle to fat ration and more detail bio hack info you can provide before and after the BF two weeks protocol.
🙄🙄🙄..Hi LeAnne.. ok I have your book just started keto but have hashimotos and diabetes and other autoimmune.. any suggestions on which keto plan from your book I should follow.. thanks LeAnne.. you are an amazing last 😍😍
Good God that is the cutest chest tattoo and Im a 47 year old business woman with one ankle tattoo. Could be my favorite tattoo I've ever seen. Cool yet feminine.
Nice tattoo. Are those fake glasses or did the Bulletproof diet improve your eyesight? It's XCT oil now-a-days. You can replace it with expeller pressed coconut oil if the budgets tight.
thank you for this video. I am enjoying your progress and reviews. i have been doing bullet proof for 2 years. I fast plus 40 hours straight a week. know its possible.
Fruit triggers headaches in me, I can only eat melons easily...sometimes apples from the farmers market. I, too, have had to do the salt water it feel better when first starting the diet. I only had to use this for a day or so. (I love your tattoo!)
fruit is the number one best food for humans. Naturally tasty, provides fiber and vitamin c. Who in the righ tmind would give up fruit?

+Jason Miller if u do low carb diet, it affects directly insulin, so it´s better not to take too much of them. It´s not that they are bad, it´s that in the period we do high fat low carb we avoid them.
+Biología y Ciencia I have a question, if you don't mind. My teacher had me do a 3-day diet report on an online app. It kept complaining that I was eating too much vegetable and too little protein. Is this just part of the American diet, or does it matter? I kept laughing, but I also want to know what to say to my teacher.
8 лет назад
i dont undertand exactly the question haha. I recommend for athlets 2 gr of protein per kg aprox. Micronutrients from vegetables are necesary, i dont know how much did u put there. rewrite the question more concrete and maybe i can answer exactly what you want to know from me. Sry, maybe u have noticed i´m not a native speaker. Cya
+Tobias Halliwell. agreed very true; the body can better absorb nutrients from some veggies with complex cell walls if lightly steamed than in raw form.
The bulletproof diet is a great way to induce stress, and harm your digestive tract, since it is so low in digestable carbs. You mention that it realies on real food, yet you say it use MCT oil in almost every recipe. I am sorry but MCT oil is not real whole food, it is a highly processed food.
Nobody knows what Dave eats or drinks on a daily basis , except Dave. It’s all speculation. Dave is diabetic and hooked on pharmaceuticals supposedly. This is like having Rush Limbaugh selling elliptical machines. I wonder if the Mayans and native Americans and prehistoric man were so concerned with the newest fads in dieting? There’s a diet that’s trending in New Zealand as we speak, mostly seal fat and ground up finger and toenails, blended and boiled. It’s coming..
I wish every American citizen was required to take a basic of Philosophy of Science class. This is disgustingly pseudo-scientific. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
+Birdie Bowie She's describing her own experience... that can't be pseudo-scientific because it isn't even scientific. HER experience with the Bulletproof diet may not reflect YOUR experience; try it and see if it works for YOU. Why you feel the need to denigrate her is beyond me.
+Birdie Bowie You're obviously a complete beginner at this. It wasn't right for you, but it was great for me. She knows what she's talkin about. You're still at square one.
+Rita Hutchins I'm sure Birdie is a someone who is paid to troll sites and cause fear and doubt. The government doesn't like this. If we all wise up and stop using toxic medications all the time, the drug industry will go down.
im not going to throw insults at you like some people like to do on youtube, im just honestly interested in why you think this, what's your reasoning to reach this conclusion ? it might help me avoid wasting time with anything that might not be a solution to my problem , thanks : )
Why do carbs have to be an "every day" food? There are plenty of things that are good in doses, but not all the time. Babies are born in ketosis. Some evidence also suggests that Ketosis is our body's natural state, since Carbs weren't nearly as abundant prior to modern agriculture.
Rob Bell Well our ancesters never had something like carb loading, they were opportunist eaters so they ate whatever they got their hands on. Also fat is not an abundant resource, most people were in ketosis due to food shortage, not because of a high fat diet. The reason carbs are so handy to eat is because they are cheap, low in calories, high in fiber and nutrients. Now when i say carbs i don't mean cookies, white bread or candy, i mean foods like fruits, berries and starches.
Thanks for the non-crazy response! A rare thing on youtube :D I'm not sure that means ketosis is bad though. The body does all sorts of awesome things like heightening senses and brain activity under certain conditions (initially for a survival scenario). I don't see why we can't leverage that sort of thing for modern life? Personally i have no issue staying in ketosis for prolonged periods. I just prefer a refeed day on occasion (mainly for sanity with all this food around which even thought it's often bad, is delicious in some way), plus i find it actually increases weight control with a once-per-week refeed.
Rob Bell When i say ketosis is bad i mean in the sense of people preaching how perfect it is and how we don't need a single gram of carbs for energy and then they for some reason need a carb loading day. I eat high carb almost every day and i have no issues losing weight and i don't need to do fat/protein refeed days. I can eat carbs consistently 24/7 365 days a year. I also don't get any cravings and have a better skin and no need for coffee. As for the brain thing, i have been in ketosis and i don't ever feel like i am brighter or more aware or better at thinking. The ketone bodies are a replacement to fuel your brain, but so do carbs.
I do agree that everyone gets on a high horse about their chosen diet. Personally i have joint issues on high carb / low fat (even super clean carbs), but none of the same on high fat / low carb. I guess it just shows that we're all built differently. I'm not always in ketosis, but almost always have ketone bodies present, and still stick to high fat side of things. I just seem to run better that way. I can go without coffee, but i have two young kids at home (youngest is a few weeks), run my own businesses, so sleep isn't as high as would be optimal either. If i was getting a full 6-7 hrs, i could drop the coffee too. But oh well - we still live in the world we live in. Glad HCLF works for you. I think it's hard to find what works for yourself sometimes!
If you want to see lean and healthy, go to parts of the world where the people are not eating western diets. They eat carbs, fruits and starch and are still lean. Also are you measuring you body fat? I appreciate you testing but having a whole bottle of oil must of rocked your body fat levels. It would of been nice if you did a before and after body fat %. Dave is a business man never forget that so he is selling his brand and making money so its all selective. I wish those willing to try good luck, but eating fat will make you fat. I don't see the lean villager in Kenya waking up have butter, oil and coffee and then some bacon after.
***** You come here and post a passive aggressive comment that holds no merit, OF COURSE you're going to get shit for it, stop complaining this a public forum, don't like what they have to say? Don't be act like a douche.
Thanx, nice presentation…..as I've just started to read his book and thinking about partaking on this journey to see what works or doesn't for me……..you might want to cut out the cleavage in your next video….I enjoyed week 2 comments more because you wore a more modest shirt….no gay or anything, but just thought there was no need to expose yourself like that….
What I'd like to know is what credentials Dave Asprey has to be giving health/diet advice. The guy doesn't even look all that healthy himself. His main expertise is in marketing overpriced garbage to gullible people who want something trendy to get behind. I really cannot stand the guy.
His credentials are. Get ready. Due to his own horrid shape, lack of focus and inflamation...etc. He spent 20 years and over a million bucks in his bio hacking. And has educated himself as well as the public. Now I could not do all he does but he surely made me think about mold and toxic soils. ...his experience. With his documentation and researched resources.says it all...it does help to have all that dough too!!
+kirmokin2 he has one kidney. Not sure if it was from the modafinil or what but taking a narco drug every day for ten years cant be all that good for your overall health.
I met Dave Asprey this weekend at the BIL Conference in Vancouver. A really nice guy. He even supplied the conference with Bulletproof coffee!

Yeah but those C8 extracts definitely give you an extra "bang." You don't have to buy Dave Asprey's brand. Plenty of other more affordable brands.
But for adding to food, NOW MCT oil is definitely the go-to.

+Biología y Ciencia I have a question, if you don't mind. My teacher had me do a 3-day diet report on an online app. It kept complaining that I was eating too much vegetable and too little protein. Is this just part of the American diet, or does it matter? I kept laughing, but I also want to know what to say to my teacher.
i dont undertand exactly the question haha. Cya
+Jason Miller It's organic green veggies like broccoli eaten raw, not fruit
Not only was your video informative but,you are ridiculously beautiful!
She's so darn adorable!
You look great after the two weeks.
Eat your veggies raw, no excuses. No fking excuses, you see that broccoli? Eat that shit raw, much better, top-tier health
+Jevin Randhawa Lightly steaming them is good too.
+Tobias Halliwell. agreed very true; the body can better absorb nutrients from some veggies with complex cell walls if lightly steamed than in raw form.
Is chicken safe?
I do one high carb day per week. Instead of my regular 37g Ill do 60g
Try Viome by Naveen Jain, it will tell you exactly what you can and can't eat since we know everyone is different.
Did you lose any weight???
The bulletproof diet is a great way to induce stress, and harm your digestive tract, since it is so low in digestable carbs. You mention that it realies on real food, yet you say it use MCT oil in almost every recipe. I am sorry but MCT oil is not real whole food, it is a highly processed food.
ur awesome!
Our bodies are like Ferrari's , if you give it the right fuel and change the oil it will run A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !!!
I'm having trouble focusing on your words with your bullets staring at me. Sorry, but I have to go.
Nobody knows what Dave eats or drinks on a daily basis , except Dave. It’s all speculation. Dave is diabetic and hooked on pharmaceuticals supposedly. This is like having Rush Limbaugh selling elliptical machines.
I wonder if the Mayans and native Americans and prehistoric man
were so concerned with the newest fads in dieting?
+Birdie Bowie You sound like new converted religious people that feels threatened by anything experimental. LIGHTEN UP!
+Rita Hutchins I'm sure Birdie is a someone who is paid to troll sites and cause fear and doubt. The government doesn't like this. If we all wise up and stop using toxic medications all the time, the drug industry will go down.
im not going to throw insults at you like some people like to do on youtube, im just honestly interested in why you think this, what's your reasoning to reach this conclusion ? it might help me avoid wasting time with anything that might not be a solution to my problem , thanks : )
stop reading. just talk to us
You look exhausted after that.
Try vitacost.com for you supplements
Damn, you are beautiful. Couldn't take my eyes off you. Whatever you are doing its working.
You know ketosis is bad if you have to consume carbs to refuel.
A rare thing on youtube :D
I'm not sure that means ketosis is bad though.
If you're always changing your diet, you're probably not on a good diet.
There is no need to buy the fancy MCT oils since coconut oil has 68% of Medium Chain Triglecerides.
Dave Asprey is a pseudoscience king. You can’t do “thyroid hacks” haha. Fml
I have a relationship with my body...pounding meat.
Is the button broken on your shirt?
the way you raise and lower your tone of voice makes you sound stupid. Not all the time but it is noticeable. Otherwise good.
I'm sorry, but do you have any source proving that eating fat makes you fat?
So how much are you getting paid to screw over your health
***** Well it does say Extreme Bananas lol.
***** I wish i could add more than one thumbs up++++ :D
Those who don't know, under educated, close minded and irresponsible & disrespectful end up saying stupid ass comments like these before mine.
***** You come here and post a passive aggressive comment that holds no merit, OF COURSE you're going to get shit for it, stop complaining this a public forum, don't like what they have to say? Don't be act like a douche.
Why? No one on this planet can control what I say or do... Expressing the truth is what I do...
Have a blessed day..
+Trevor Regay who cares what she is wearing man
Most overused word of 2015-2016: hack. Was only generally referred to in computing and negatively. Like: that guy is a hack journalist .
Matt Jarvie than don’t watch !! Lmao 😂
Blahblahblah. Then don't watch
5 seconds in and already I can't take this chick!
this is a crazy white girl. fun times i can tell
love dave he is helping me become the best forex trader in the world!!! wd gann baby!!!
Wow! Awesome :)
Sorry im not taking diet advice from a guy who abused pharmaceutical drugs for ten years and screwed up his health just to feel like superman!
+KungFuChess care to elaborate on "screwed up his health"?
+kirmokin2 he has one kidney. Not sure if it was from the modafinil or what but taking a narco drug every day for ten years cant be all that good for your overall health.
He was born with one kidney.
+kirmokin2 if that's true even more reason not to take some epilepsy drug chronically
so was your comment purely based on hate or do you actually have any substantial reason to believe he "screwed up his health"?
do your shirt up
