I just started your Keto Beginning meal plan...day 1 and OMG...your recipes are amazing! Breakfast was to die for...and right now I'm having the largest kale salad ever with the most delicious dressing. You are, indeed, a recipe artist! LOVE IT and can't wait to see what's next :-)
Ha! You are right! I went from being vegan right into keto after doing research since being vegan was obliterating my health in the end. I got realllllyyyyy sick from being vegan. I have been keto for about 14 days now, alongside intermittent fasting and it is soooooo easy compared to being vegan..(well, after I cried the first few days accepting I am an omnivore. It was hard...really hard. I'm in a predatorial body and it needs what it needs to thrive.) Being vegan is brutally strict, esp. when traveling! On keto, I feel wayyyyyy better. I did have "keto flu" for 3 days, but I was already used to issues with indigestion with too much fiber when vegan, so 3 days keto flu had nothing on me! I massaged my liver, gallbladder and pancreas areas after each meal, and weird as that sounds it helped these organs process in the way they needed faster. I would apologize to them while massaging for making their work harder. I had thought I was doing the right thing for all beings involved, but I almost destroyed my body instead in the end. How odd that vegan and not keto put more harm on my liver and gallbladder. How odd that keto is melting off weight and my digestion improves more and more each day. I'm pushing 40, and for the first time since my teens, my chronic fatigue is going away...every day I wake up with more energy! It's amazing!
Kalina Angell I am so happy to hear your story and that you found a way to feel healthy & energized! Do you mind me asking how long you were vegan and how you handled transitioning back to meat? I just started adding hen eggs and fish to my diet & it has already helped tremendously (along with a keto diet of ourse😊) ~cheers
I have been battling my weight for decades. I have Multiple Sclerosis, Lyme Disease and Hashimotos. I do not do toxic medications, but lots of natural medicines. My diet is low carb (except about 1/4 apple a day), mostly vegetables, chicken, turkey bacon, moderate fat and protein (am raising those). I push myself hard to get exercise (power plate, short walk, swim), though compared to someone without these conditions, it is not much. I read recently that the monounsaturated fats in olive oil can cause weight gain or prevent weight loss. Maybe this is not the norm, but maybe so for someone with these conditions and sedentary life. I have been eating oo for years and thought maybe that was the reason I just keep gaining, even though I eat well! So, I stopped and replaced my salad dressing with MCT oil and added coconut oil (I was allergic to it for years, thankfully I can eat it now). I think with the oo I was getting too many calories, unlike with coconut oil being a medium chain fat that goes right to energy vs fat storage. What do you think about the oo concern?
When I first went keto (just a few weeks ago) I felt instantly amazing thinking I whisked by all those negative side effects, then WHAM the brain fog hit and the muscle cramping (I powerwalk and hike). Wow, I didn't think I was going to push through and almost thought I made a mistake. That was a tough week or so. I think this video is going to be my *go to* video when I start doubting myself. lol.........
agreed! my body dropped using carbs fast for the fat. lol in about 4 to 5 I have dropped about 5 to 10 pounds. (I am currently thinking water weight at the moment) I can't believe how much carbs was hurting me with the memory problems, energy, ect. I miss my pasta and carbs but I rather feel the hangery than go back. XD
What do you do when everything starts tasting the same, and nothing sounds good anymore. I am really losing my taste buds and don't find food so interesting anymore. Which is a good thing, but very alien thing to me. I love how satiated I feel, I love that I no longer crave sugar. I love love love most of it but.. I don't feel the excitement about food I used to.
I started Keto just a month ago.Although I love how my food tastes now because of the fat, I still feel a bit guilty when I pour out some extra olive oil or coconut oil on my food.I didn't lose a lot of weight, just 5 or 6 pounds, but I noticed the improvement on my body , in addition, I feel great, so I'm sticking to it and see what happens. Thanks Leanne for your posts, it's helping a lot.
On low carbs you miss out on sodium intake a bit, so to avoid feeling flat, try putting a moderate amount of salt on your meals, and also drink more water than you were.
Hey Greg Norton, thanks for mentioning that. You're totally right! I use LOADS of Himalayan rock salt. It's rich in minerals and free of toxins. Here's a link for those interested: amzn.to/18IRk9x
Greg Norton don't forget potassium. it's near impossible to get enough without carbs. i use "NOsalt". nosalt is a salt substitute that is actually just potassium.
HealthfulPursuit so glad to read this as I can't find potassium supplements in India.. But I sure have Himalayan rock salt in abundance here! :-) In fact my day starts with warm water, lemon juice and rock salt in a big glass!!
Dan Johnson Avacado, Swiss Chard, Spinach, Tuna, Salmon, dark meat, grass-fed beef, yogurt, mushrooms, brussels sprouts, zucchini etc.., all good sources of potassium. At 20 grams of carbs, you can still have a decent amount of potassium, at 50-100 grams there is no excuse.
I'm insulin resistant and I've done atkins many times successfully, but lately when I start (like today) I was so light headed even though I was on a regular eating schedule. So I broke down and at popcorn...that didn't bring my sugar up fast enough so I drank lite tea. HELP me get through this week with not carbs or should I start with a little fruit...but when I do that it doesn't help curb sugar craving.
I have been eating high fat, moderate protein, low carb (approx 50-60 grams a day) for 2 months now.. At first I went through a ''keto flu'' but I increased my sodium intake and that seemed to help. About a week after, I felt better. Lost about 4 lbs of water weight, felt great, my sleeping improved as well. I had steady energy. However....I noticed since starting this way of eating I am losing ALOT of hair, like it's literally everywhere. I'm horrified when I brush my hair out of the shower. I started noticing this probably about two weeks into it. Also, I am now finding that my energy levels are inconsistant, I have high's and low's and I am recently waking up with headaches in the morning. In addition, since I started eating low carb, high fat I am feeling foggy. I am wondering if carb cycling once or twice a week would do the trick on training days.... Or perhaps maybe I should increase my carbs to about 100grams per day and see if that helps. What do you think?
Jessica B Hey Jessica! I'm in the exact same boat as you are. I'm having exactly the same symptoms. Leanne mentioned in another video that it's a sign to up carbs. I'm terrible at tracking my macros and calories...the hair thing is freaking me out!
Yeah.. I think that's what I'm gonna do, I'll up my carbs another 30-50grams and see how I feel. I don't track either, but I have an approximation. The hair issue is a major red flag, it freaked me out too and I was hoping it was just due to the weather (since my hair falls out more with seasonal changes) but it hasn't stopped....
Hey Leanne, I have been suffering from adrenal fatigue for years. I have tried everything, seen every endocrinologist, gyn, nutritionists... well thing is I think going into nutritional ketosis will be the right thing, although it's very hard to quit carb addiction... and I've been "trying" started in Nov14, Carbs are well under 50g but I now count fat grams to get may macros better balanced and reach 75% fat. This week I am sure hitting 140g of fat, but sadly I have experienced a lot of gut inflammation, do you think this could be a signal of adaptation? Thank you a lot for sharing your work and letting us find a path to healing...
I'm curious to know your opinion on pregnant/nursing moms on the ketogenic diet? Should the macros still be 75 fat, 20 protein and 5 carb, or do these numbers perhaps need to be tweaked a bit? I've been either pregnant or nursing or both for the last 5 1/2 years. I have some underlying health issues I'd like to work on and feel so much better eating higher fat and lower carb, but I'm not sure how low I should go with the carbs. My daughter is now 14 months, so she doesn't rely that heavily on nursing anymore, but still wants to nurse 3x/day. I also want to replenish stores in my body after taxing it for such a long time with carrying and nourishing babies. I've been on my version of the ketogenic diet for the last couple weeks, keeping my carbs at closer to 10%, fats closer to 65% and protein 25%. I'm curious if I should more strictly limit my carbs and add in a bit more fats?
Thanks for all the great information! I'm in my 3rd week and what you've described is spot on. I had to work until almost 2:00 a.m. on my 2nd job, last night, and though there happened to be candy nearby and I was wanting something "sweet", I got a cold banana and cut it up with some melted Kerrygold butter and a sprinkle of stevia. Worked like a charm AND I got my potassium ijn - I"m on high BP medicine, so have to have potassium each day. But, I'm down to 1 instead of 2 pills, now! I'll be watching :)
Greetings, What brand coffee beans do you use, I know the authur of the bulletproof diet speaks about certain coffee made with toxins and mold in one of his videos. I stop using coffee because I thought it was acid forming and that the caffeine wasn't good. I will rethink that if I was misinformed. Thank you in advance.
I'm extremely interested in giving this a shot- if a little worried about getting it "right" as a vegetarian. My question is: do you not count calories at all? FX i'm a fiend for oats at breakfast, and the hemp version has nearly 900 cals. So I'm scared to even start it as I'm worried about actually gaining. Thanks!
Lukychrm42 are you planning on staying vegetarian? Just wondering, cuz I do LCHF and I don't think I could manage being vegetarian. But anyways, I don't count calories anymore and it doesn't seem to bother my weight other than making it go down... it's kind of a difficult transition mentally but I sooo don't miss it.
hi my name is michelle ive not caught your name yet i apologize i was wondering how much water do you drink on a particular day? do you monitor that amount? or just drink when you are thirsty? i recently started a low carb diet and sugar is my number one enemy right now i have about 80 lbs that i would like to lose mainly to feel better about myself and also to avoid health problems in the future ive suffered from diarrhea for about 7 years and thought it was a dairy allergy ive experimented with my foods thinking it was every ting from wheat to dairy to gluten to fat...i could not gain optimal health i had no energy couldnt sleep i felt foggy all the time grumpy at times and felt like i had to pull myself from bed i tried every thing to lose weight and only kept gaining eventually i was lead to medifast meal replacements and found that i lost nearly 40 lbs with that eating plan but im too restricted and feel hungry all the time its low carb high protein and low fat so im thinking the low fat portion is the culprit of my hunger issues im gonna try adding healthy fats to see if it helps i have all the 10 things that a high fat diet might be right for me...from one of your other videos...and i am getting closer to maybe healing my body from all the damage birth control and diet has done to it i want to thank you for being here hope to hear from you and i am subscribing to your video i also ordered your book and cant wait to read it thanks again have a blessed day michelle
HealthfulPursuit hi Leanne!!! thank you for replying... !! wonderful job on the water intake too!! ill use this info im learning from you to tweak my diet and see if it helps me feel better..thanks so much
Hm, fascinating, actually, I don't follow what a typical Vegan eats and that's only Veggies (raw almost all the time) and fruits. I eat, Veggies, Grains, fats (only healthy mostly nuts and coconut), however, I don't touch any meats or dairy whatsoever. And my akin is beyond glowing and as well I have no dark or bags at all (like I'm literally wearing make up yet I won't and I'm a guy). Pretty much anything that isn't meat, Dairy all together. You should try this and view if you'll be even more healthier and energetic. I literally have too much energy (despite working hard and life). My body doesn't get sore or rarely does but goes away after a day or two (no matter what heavy exercise or Body weight intensity I do). I'm ripped to shreds and I have that body all men look for (majority) or women (if any...). All I did was just not eat meats or dairy that that's it plus Wheatgrass powders and all those hard to bare Alge powders and such.
Hey! I just ran across your videos this morning after deciding to try a ketogenic diet. Thank you so much for your informative videos. Would you mind telling me what supplements you take, esp your magnesium, and where you get them? I'm already nutrient deficient due a gastric bypass I had 13 yrs ago. Plz let me know so I can stock up before trying this diet. And thanks for being you. You crack me up! Made my day! So thnx for your silly motivational tactics. You help me to feel that this diet isn't as overwhelming as it seems. Plz keep up the awesome videos. Can't wait to check out your book n meal plan, too! 😉 ~Melissa~
I did a more healthy version of Atkins years ago. It was the only thing that helped me lose weight. So, I am very excited about your diet! However, I went through a 4.5 year phase where I was suddenly allergic to all foods. I have been able to add back foods, but between allergies and digestion, I still cannot process nuts, eggs, soy, protein powders, grains (don't need) or cheese (which I know I don't need). So, before, I was able to have snacks like nuts, cheese and beef jerky. Now, I can't find any snacks I can eat. So, I am still eating granny smith apples for snacks, which keeps me from going into ketosis. Can you point me to some ideas that I can purchase or easy to make? I have tried making flax crackers, but they were terrible. Thank you!
I have tried every brand of enzymes, probiotics, prebiotics, fermented foods, etc and am still using all of the above. I have been studying and using natural medicines for 24 years and have several specialists and compounding pharmacists on my case. I have MS, Late-Chronic Lyme and a severe genetic disorder. Thank you so much! ♡
Hi thanks for the informative videos, they have really helped me on my journey. I am new to Keto so I wanted to know should I eat Keto style desserts everyday? I am a month in and have lost 12 lbs. My desserts consist of Low carb cheesecake, Low carb cake (mug or loaf), chocolate like coco polo. I am losing but sometimes it brings my energy down. What should I do?
So I'm about a month into keto, and this last week I gained 3 pounds (weigh-in was today) but most of my measurements came down (yay!) and a couple stayed the same as last week. I'm expecting my period anytime from today to the next 2 or 3 days. How shd I interpret this? Am I on the right track or do I need to change things around? Thanks for all ur lovely videos!
Hey Mahima Nijhowne! If your measurements have gone down, sounds like you're building muscle! Do you workout? Thanks for your kind words about my videos!!!
+HealthfulPursuit Well I'd heard one should allow the body to adapt in the first 3-4weeks, without putting extra energy demands on it through exercise. I started some strength training today, but that doesn't count... On the whole I've come down from 187lbs to 181.8 (end of wk 3) and now up to 183.7 (end of wk 4). As per health central dot com I've come down from 32.8% to 29%... In fact my question sounds kinda obvious to me, but I was still wondering.. Since I had gone down to 181.8, coming back up to 183.7 feels bad.. Thank you for responding!! I may start badgering you with a lot more questions!! In fact, a lot if people say if you need to lose weight you need to reduce fat intake so that the body uses body fat for energy... While others say that more fat intake reduces insulin secretion... Also, they say you need to up your proteins to hit leucine threshold which in turn triggers muscle protien synthesis.. While others say too much protein leads to gluconeogenesis... Converting protein to glucose, if the protoforms are in excess.. What is your take on that, for a person who needs to lose 45-50 lbs? Thanks in advance!
Mahima Nijhowne woman tend to gain weight in the 10 - 7 days surrounding their period and drop it all during the week of the actual cycle. My personal record, 10lbs gained and lost in 2 weeks.
***** Hmmmm! Funny its taken me exactly 2 weeks from the time the weight went up through the period's later days for the wt. to go down. So now I'm back to square one. But does that mean that we are effectively not losing weight for 2weeks each month? Because I still haven't gone done from the lowest premium period weight 2 which was on 12th march 2015. I've now reached there again. But my inches are coming off each week...! :-)
I been doing this for week so far. I have nausea, fatique hot flashes. And tons of energy. Cramping alot in stomach pissing like a race horse. Is this a sign in ketosis I'm eating 2400 calories 200g fat 76g protein 10-30g carbs
Just have to point out that you are not fasting the second you drink a coffee/ green tea- anything that isn't water. It's xenobiotic so it has to be processed by your liver, thus, ending the fast.
OMG I was cracking up watching your video, you basically are describing my life...leg cramps...the coffee breakfast...bacon by the boatload...everything lol
You would love Vibram Five Fingers...they totally freaked me out at first---I thought "No Way could I have toes on my shoes" they are AMAZING for shoeless folks. Thank you for your videos they are helping me soo much and I am hoping to soon get your book...we are just on a super tight budget right now. As in SUPER tight, but I am going to get it soon and am very excited. Thanks Again. Meghan Mengel
Ok so this is funny...i just ordered a guide to keto dieting book off Amazon and when I got it I got stupidly excited because I saw you on the cover lol. I had no idea! I barely started watching your channel a few days ago...😀
Hi I am new here so mayby it's been mentioned before but I'll ask anyway. I went on your website and you offer your first name only, and you don't state what your education is in? Basically, am I following the nutrition advice of an English major? Most people who have a website and offer their services, state more transparently who they are and what their experience is. So what's your background Leanne?
ok. You're a little cup of awesome! I wear yoga pants/tights every day. Very easy to move in and feel good. If you don't like wearing socks, might I recommend Vibrams. They are toe shoes, so you don't have to wear socks to the gym. Start slow, they can be a little mean to the calves as you get used to them. For instance, I don't jump rope or do any cardio (more than 10 min) in them, especially as you begin to wear them. From what I can tell you are very familiar with adjustment periods. Vibrams are awesome! That I guess would make you double awesome! Ha!

AlexciaLinette You can try using stevia to curb sugar craving. Mix it in with peanut butter or your tea, etc.
Thanks! I will try that!
AlexciaLinette Switch to Stevia as a sweetener.
This was really helpful, I love it!
I'm so glad you mentioned the reflux in the beginning, I was so worried that something was wrong with me!
Hey! I love your videos! Hope you're having a great day!
Great informative videos, subscribed. Love from London x
You provide a ton of great information with a positive and fun attitude. I just want to say thank you and keep up the GREAT work.
Your video's are awesome!
I don't see the link to the magnesium... 😢

Question: What book is it that you're referring to where you lay out how not to "catch" the keto flu? Thanks!
That's strange, it only takes me two days to have good blood keton levels (1.5 - 4) and I never had any bad symptoms like keto flu.
Wow, that's amazing! Every body is a bit different!
HealthfulPursuit Same as me, never had the symptoms.

hi my name is michelle
ive not caught your name yet i apologize
i was wondering
how much water do you drink on a particular day?
do you monitor that amount? or just drink when you are thirsty?
i recently started a low carb diet
and sugar is my number one enemy right now
i have about 80 lbs that i would like to lose
mainly to feel better about myself and also to avoid health problems in the future
ive suffered from diarrhea for about 7 years and thought it was a dairy allergy
ive experimented with my foods thinking it was every ting from wheat to dairy to gluten to fat...i could not gain optimal health
i had no energy
couldnt sleep
i felt foggy all the time
grumpy at times and
felt like i had to pull myself from bed
i tried every thing to lose weight and only kept gaining
eventually i was lead to medifast meal replacements and found that i lost nearly 40 lbs with that eating plan
but im too restricted and feel hungry all the time
its low carb high protein and low fat
so im thinking the low fat portion is the culprit of my hunger issues
im gonna try adding healthy fats
to see if it helps
i have all the 10 things that a high fat diet might be right for me...from one of your other videos...and i am getting closer to maybe healing my body from all the damage birth control and diet has done to it
i want to thank you for being here
hope to hear from you
and i am subscribing to your video
i also ordered your book and cant wait to read it
thanks again
have a blessed day

Michelle Laughter Hey! It's Leanne ;) I drink about 2-4 liters depending on the day
HealthfulPursuit hi Leanne!!! thank you for replying... !! wonderful job on the water intake too!! ill use this info im learning from you to tweak my diet and see if it helps me feel better..thanks so much
I HATE wearing socks too!! I don't even own any. I hear ya sister
My husband is not hungry enough to get all his food in. Should he force it?
The Keto Beginning Link is not working for me. Where else can I access this book?

Thank you!
try Now brand Super Enzymes
I have tried every brand of enzymes, probiotics, prebiotics, fermented foods, etc and am still using all of the above. I have been studying and using natural medicines for 24 years and have several specialists and compounding pharmacists on my case. I have MS, Late-Chronic Lyme and a severe genetic disorder. Thank you so much! ♡
+Silly Sherri Productions has this diet helped?
+HealthfulPursuit
Well I'd heard one should allow the body to adapt in the first 3-4weeks, without putting extra energy demands on it through exercise.
Thanks in advance!
sorry I meant proteins, not protoforms.. Auto corrects at its best! HealthfulPursuit
Jay00 idk why this is funny, i read this sarcastically lol. You still doing this diet btw?
I love this girl!
If I get into keto then after few months can to switch to carb cycle?
i tend to be eating too much protein and not quite enough fats, any tips?
Great Video! I just started making keto vids too!
Ok so this is funny...i just ordered a guide to keto dieting book off Amazon and when I got it I got stupidly excited because I saw you on the cover lol. I had no idea! I barely started watching your channel a few days ago...😀
what if I don't know how to travel with a different diet?
i've done 4 months Keto , lost 40 lbs , about 2-3 lbs a weeks works great. BTW nice ink , what we could see anyways
I need some advice
About the only thing that happens to me is I get really bad diarrhea for a couple days then I am okay.
Just found this channel
And I think I’m in love 😂😂😂
She is super causal, not uptight at all, that’s my kinda of woman
Hi I am new here so mayby it's been mentioned before but I'll ask anyway. I went on your website and you offer your first name only, and you don't state what your education is in? Basically, am I following the nutrition advice of an English major? Most people who have a website and offer their services, state more transparently who they are and what their experience is. So what's your background Leanne?
I have the same tights! :)
HAH!!! I'm the same way, I hardly have any socks I HATE THEM!!!! lol
Icee Queene WORD.
+HealthfulPursuit true story!
If this type of diet helps me to lose weight, feel better, and be as cute and fabulous as you are- I am all for it! :)
I've been lethargic for two weeks now. talking vitamin b complex and electrolyte mix, wtf?
No one wanted to hear about your socks, I came here for keto info😒
Ha!
Thumbs down for wasting a minute of nonsense in the Intro
Am I watching keto info lol
no socks
hawt
Omg - this chick thinks she is so cute. I could only take 30 seconds of this. I’m out.
Bit of a weird comment bro.
