    One of the best useful planner videos I have watched so far. I just subscribed. I hope you provide more info like this. I found it extremely useful.

    This week I have discovered that I needed to return to a hands-on basic approach to organizing. I have tried phone/paper calendar/computer calendar-ing, but now at that place of frustration. I returned to Franklin Covey planning and awaiting the arrival of my new planner. I have gotten excited again about manual planning, after trying to "get with" technology, but finding it has left me frustrated. Guess I need to be true to myself and return to what fits my personality/lifestyle best. After finding and viewing your video, I am suddenly sensing relief and excitement about future productivity and balance. I really appreciated all you had to say, it spoke volumes to me. Thank you very much! Your video will be my "go to" source for my new planning adventure. One thing I need to be aware of: Not to be so into the planning, that I don't actually progress into the doing of those plans. Have a great week Troy!

      Thanks Cynthia! I agree with you about not getting so caught up on planning that we don't allow time for the doing.

    Troy, I had this video in my watch later section and promptly forgot about that section altogether. I'm a functional Planner at heart but I love a few decorative elements as well. I literally to notes during this video as if it was a Masterclass. Thank you for your thoroughness and patience in explaining everything. I'm going to do a big ole braindump this week and get started making my planning time more productive.

    Troy, I still have the 8 cassette Time Power training program from Charles R Hobbs. I got it in the early 90’s. I still use the fundamentals from that program today, and I have coached many, many people on these concepts over the years.

    Enjoyable!!! You said you would do a series of videos on your setup. please consider still doing if you are still using the FC system because it would be nice to see along w the lesson planning, as you mentioned you were a teacher.

    Hello! My name is Tina (don't know why my husbands name shows up). Anyway, love your planning style. I'm trying to simplify mine. I'm a Forensic Accountant so I keep very detailed notes but I also think I need EVERYTHING in my planner which I obviously don't need lol. I'm definitely going to do this. Love that you have a few lists in the front and that's it. I try to keep all my finance stuff with me too but I'm thinking that I may be able to just jot down the info I need on my notes page if I can't take care of the task from home. Thanks for sharing! Definitely going to check out your wife's video's as well.

      Thanks Tina! It's important to me to keep the bulk of my planner down. If I could make a pocket sized work, I would. But I can't, so this is the next best thing.

    How do you handle items on your master task list that get assigned to a day. Dou you just put it on the day or do you put an arrow on the item on the master task list and a check mark when completed.

    Hi Troy! Just found your videos and really enjoyed them! Like you, I am coming back to the Franklin Planner after years of being away from it. My dad got me hooked on using them back when I was in high school/college in the late 80's. I used the FDP exclusively for years then moved on to GTD, Field Notes, FiloFax and just about every digital tool that is out there. My system now is somewhat of a hybrid. I'm using the planner as my primary tool for planning and executing tasks, projects, etc. but using the Things app as my immediate capture tool, my master task list and for specific project planning. During my planning and solitude time, I scan the Things app and pull the relevant information into the planner. I'm still on the fence about keeping the calendar digital or moving it to the planner. I like the idea of having it digital but I also like the idea of keeping all my appointments in one place in one calendar. It's too easy using to have multiple calendars with the digital method. Anyway, I enjoyed your videos! Looking forward to watching more of them. Have a great day!

      Thanks JP! I'v not made a successful leap to fully integrating digital into my system, but admittedly I do almost all calendar activities on google calendar. I also have the complication of using a teacher planner for my daily lesson planning. Too much detail to put into the FP.

      @@troymayfield1963Hi Troy! Thanks for the reply. I may wind up using a hybrid approach to calendaring as well. I've been using the Fantastical app on the mac and it's pretty good. I'm a freelance illustrator and animator so I primarily use my calendar to track due dates on projects. The digital calendar is better for recurring appointments so there is that. I'll see what works best overtime I suppose. I can see how having to use a separate teacher planner could complicate things. My wife teaches and I've seen the amount of info that she has to deal with on a daily basis. It's best to keep it out of the FDP. 😊

    Thank you for this very informative video. I am currently using a Daytimer planner. I am thinking of changing over to the Franklin planner. Do you think I should? Which one is better?

    • @troymayfield1963
      @troymayfield1963  Год назад +2

      I think Franklin’s paper is better. I probably used Franklin planners longer than I used Daytimer.
      Full disclosure - I’m just using a notebook and digital now.

    From what I know, the 'Franklin' founders' system & seminars were pretty much a blatant copy of Hobbs' system, and the Franklin Planner pretty much a copy of the Day-Timer, (successfully) marketed more to individuals than businesses.
