Great information. Love the examples of how to use the values sheet and how to schedule it. Thank you. I am a visual learner and I really appreciate you adding the texts of your main points.
I am currently working through the Franklin Planner Course and watching as many of your videos as possible. Your advice and lessons are so helpful! I'm really excited to start your weekly planning method for next week's spread 😀
It’s interesting that my problem isn’t weekly planning. That’s my strength! I know just what needs to be done. But where I fail is the fine art of assigning those things to a specific day. It’s obvious that how I feel on any given day should not be the determining factor on whether an important task gets done, but so often it just is. I’ve even thought about not making a daily list at all, so all those undone things won’t have to be transferred over to yet another day, adding to my anxiety. In fact the greatest success I’ve had with follow through is when I used a plain notebook page to scribble down a list at the very last moment before execution of said list. Anyway it’s something I’m actively working on.
What’s great about you is that you have a clear understanding of yourself. It’s admirable that you can look at yourself with honesty and know where you can improve. I often have to move tasks that aren’t completed to the next day also and that’s sometimes based on how I feel. I think that’s why some people prefer a weekly planner as opposed to a daily one so they can write one list for the week without having to carry over tasks to the next day. Thanks for leaving a comment. 🙂
First, I am so sorry you lost your father. I will keep you in my prayers...I know it's hard. I lost my mother 3 years ago, and my dad a year ago. It makes Christmas hard. Then, I loved how you explained the weekly planning. I plan daily, at night. I also need a weekly compass!! So much to learn!! Thank you so much my friend! PS I'm going to get a binder for my birthday in May! Love, Jeanie xxoo
Tonya, my prayer is to be a better steward of my time, energy, $, home and relationships, starting with my relationship with the LORD. You are helping me with every bit of this. What a beautiful example you set. Also, you clearly have the gift of teaching. Thank you so much for your videos. May God bless you and your family.
HiTonya ,I enjoyed your video it wasn't to long and it was clear and simply doable .I will be implementing the weekly steps and the week card to apply to daily tasks .Thanks again
Super video, as always! I'm finding it difficult to focus on things these days- these are great reminders, too. I'm SO sorry to hear about your dear father. 💐
Hello Sola. It is hard to focus sometimes. I wonder if that has something to do with the moon phases that is listed on the planner. I’m going to research that and do a video on it. Have a great day.
Hi Tonya! Thanks for another great video! I learn something from each one. I haven't been very good about weekly planning, but plan to try harder in the new year. I have found that, more and more, when something pops into my head, I think, "I better write that in my planner so I don't forget!" I hope you and your family are doing well and staying healthy. Have a wonderfully blessed holiday season!
Hello Cheryl my friend! I agree that writing down thoughts that pop into your head helps! I almost always do it if I write it down. I may not do it immediately but I will do it eventually! Have a great holiday.
i do have a good routine I do hear mass daily to listen to scripture and hear The priest insights and have my own insight . Yoga and walking are my practice for health . I also like the three fold year you ad in the binder . That is why i think the wire bound would be incomplete. May i asked the size of planner binder you use that lays flat.
Nice video. I invested in the Franklin planner system, and the weekly planning part was the only area that kind of confused me, but this video cleared it all up for me. Thanks.
Yes ma’am. A flip through is on my list of videos to do. I don’t do set up videos often because it’s so time consuming. I have to go through my planner and take out or cover up private info like my bills and health information. 🙂
David Allen says: "If you are not doing Weekly review, you are not doing GTD!" It's funny to see how big could be the impact of the weekly compass card in this planner. Sadly, I already bought my Franklin planner kit but missed to include the weekly compass card :(
I love your videos. I'm getting into the Franklin system after debating it for about a year. I felt like it was really expensive. I tried using a digital planning system and Google calendar, but it isn't enough. Especially with anxiety and depression and being a student. I'll be using my Google calender still because it has alerts for time-specific events, but I'll still transcribe into my planner each week/month. If you have any tips for student use, that would be awesome! Thank you so much. :) Also, thank you for sharing your personal info, it makes it a lot easier to imagine what I will add to roles and values.
Hi Julie! Thanks for watching! As a student, having a paper planner will make a huge difference as opposed to only using digital planning. I also feel paper planners are terrific as it relates to mental health as well. I often journal about my feelings, what has happened in my life and what I plan to do. Take care my friend.
Thanks Tonya. Great job. I linked on because I needed a fresher on the weekly compass cards. It was useful. If I can give some constructive feedback (and I am in no way being critical, you did a great job) I recommend you speed up the cadence of your presentation. It just felt a bit slow. Besides that awesome. Thanks
Hi Alan! Thanks for watching. I don’t mind constructive feedback! I do realize I was going slower than normal that day. The reason for that was because I kept messing up and having to re-record over and over again. So I thought I should slow it down. Some days are like that for me and some days are not. Have a great day. ☀️
@@TonyaPlans I also came for a refresher on using the Weekly Compass. I thought about the speed/cadence as well thinking it could be faster, but I like the calmness of slowing things down a bit.
@@TonyaPlans Your cadence is just right for me. I love that you don’t talk too fast and I can process and really consider what you are saying. I am sorry to hear about your dad. God bless you and your family.
Aloha Tanya, do you use the daily and weekly planners? I thought I saw that in one of your videos. If you do what is the benefit to doing a daily, weekly planner? Mahalo, Cheryl
Hello Cheryl. Yes, I use both daily and weekly planners but use the daily one most. The daily is beneficial when you have a lot of tasks/notes each day and want to break your days up in smaller, bite-sized chunks. The weekly is beneficial to see your whole week at a glance. It’s important to do that so you can see the bigger picture and what is to come for the week. Thanks for watching. 🤍
@@TonyaPlans How do you reconcile the two planners? I've struggled with this issue, trying and often not succeeding at applying the Franklin Covey principle of one reliable tool for all things. How much time do you spend on your weekly planning? Daily? etc.
How do you use the actual week pages in conjunction with the dailies? It seems like they are redundant. Then again, I'm probably not understanding the flow. So do you put major theme headlines on the weekly, and then break that out into specifics on your dailly? EG let's say you wanted to improve your social media presence on FB (or Insta, or.,,). Would you put a main theme of your posts down on Monday in your weekly, and then list specific posts on Monday in your daily? Or would you disregard the times on your weekly and instead just write concepts (if that makes sense)?
Hi. I use the weekly planner to plan my social media content. I do not include social media stuff on my daily pages because I want to keep that separate. I want to focus on work and personal tasks on my daily pages. My social media is a side hobby and if I don’t get to it, it’s okay. I’m starting to get a lot of questions about how I plan my social media. I may do a video on it if there’s enough interest.
@@TonyaPlans after listening again, I realized you answered that, so I copied it! I have my weeklies for the month in a section of my planner, and have each day's posts identified for the first week. Wow did that ever simplify things! Then I set a reminder alarm on my phone and voila!
