Same spot here! my girlfriend and family keep asking me why i draw only spooky and scary stuff. they say im very talented but drawing only spooky things is wierd. For me answering every time "becouse i like them" make me fill even more not normal. But its true. I tryied drawing cute littele pet or fairy and stuff like this, but they dont look good as a skeleton hourseman or a specter of mine. I feel really good watching your video and seen that someone as the same mind of mine and is proud of it. Ty Bobby you are very inspiring!
One of the worst/most hurtful things someones ever told me was "why are you drawing that, something's wrong with you", I was about 13-15 years old drawing the hulk ripping the venom symbiot off of himself. And it looked great. That said, the person who said that drawing things like skulls smoking a blunt, and the blunt has a goblin face with a mushroom hat. NO longer do I care what anyone else thinks about my art (greatly helped by your videos) I feel free when I'm drawing now, while getting my best results ever in the process. Honestly I think that if you draw things for other people rather than having fun drawing, you shouldn't be drawing. Unless these people likes your art and wants to be a Client/Consumer and not a Critic. Once again thank you for all the informative and inspiring lessons.
I love watching you make art! It is so soothing just watching you draw and it is fascinating the creatures that you come up with! I love it! Thank you so much!
Style come out of the choices you make over time, the more you draw the more you filter out what you feel are bad choices and incorporate what you think are good coices. That is how "Your Style" Becomes a thing.
Thanks for sharing this! You really don't develop a style in anything (art, fashion, writing, performance, cooking, etc.) except by DOING THE DAMN THING, experimenting, and seeing what resonates with YOU. If you're not into it, it takes much more energy out of you and I think others can sense that. Awesome work as always Bobby🍻🙏
I started dating most of my sketches back in 2020. I put a date when I start each page and and a date when I'm done with that page. I draw on both sides of a simple printer paper btw.
Lol I’ve always loved the expression I was told in college. “Drawing with a mouse is like drawing with a potato.” Lol. After that was told to me, I bought my first drawing tablet (not pen display). I had the one wacom from 2009 you actually drew separate from the monitor lol the old grey slanted one
Your videos have helped tremendously with my pen and ink art( digital). Line work is almost not terrible now. Trying to finish up a drawing for your monthly contest. It’s a really challenge. I can do strange, but creepy still needs work. :)
Just discover your channel and love your art and the way you make monsters and creatures with this old dark book style, since kid i love watching monsters movies and dinosaurs documentaires, love drawing but im trying to learn and undertand more about volume and texture for draw better my monsters designs and yours videos helps a lot , you are very talented man!
Ah, this reminded me of a time in high school when I had brought a gothic and horror art book to show to friends, and this one preppy girl went ahead, grabbed it, looked around and declared "this is not art" and I was like "why not" and she said that its was because it was creepy and horrible and that art was supposed to be pretty. I know know she was not right at all, but the crazy thing is she now owns an art gallery! Her dad was a painter. I guess being rich pays 🤷🏻♀️
It might've been something she was taught but doesn't actually feel. Maybe she does appreciate art and has finally broken free from others' views of what art "should" look like.
this channel got me start organizing my stuff in a moleskine book. so far so good. i'm usually not into spooky stuff, but I like to watch your process and the result.
The outline drawn by the painter looks like the form of a certain creature, with sharp corners and prominent edges, showcasing the painter's precise grasp of form and structure.
Are you able to make a video on portfolio building, if you havent already, I'm loving the contect ive recently stumbled across your channel and ive found it very informative, but id like to know what you think would be the best things to add to a professional portfolio
@@bobbyrebholz2183 yeah honestly your videos are probably the best I've seen visually and informatively so I appreciate the reply, with 3 years of illustration and animation in college I've had little to no help with the next steps
Loving the content! If I may suggest a video idea- What about looking at character designs from people in your discord or from popular media and giving your thoughts on them? It's not too in line with the content you make necessarily, but I do think it would be helpful to both the artists mentioned and anyone that takes inspiration from the opinions you share. Maybe towards the end of your character design series, so you can view the designs through the lense of your past lessons
Well, respectable Christians often tell me with warnings: "You will lose your soul because you paint these demons. You need to turn to God!" etc. But I always have that 24 carat smile on my face. Well, what can I say, monsters, it's just me. And even when back there in my childhood, I played games I always played with Demons and I adored their Anti-Paladin unit. Damn, that guy was amazing. Also on Starcraft I played with the Zerg. Always with the monsters.😁 Great Vid 😁
Hey Bobby another great video, I have a question! I’m a tattoo apprentice and I love to make some creatures like you, I also love to do portraits, watercolor, charcoal and concept art in digital, do you recommend me to work in everything or maybe prioritize on one thing?
It's always good to experiment and try different things but you truly are able to focus when you niche down. Once you get really good at that own thing, you master it.
Hey man! Curious about if you do anything to your paper to keep the pencil from smudging? Any fixative, or do you photograph after each drawing…or perhaps you don’t worry about it. Thanks!
Hey Zack. I don't do anything special. I just keep my hand away from the sketch. Sometimes I'll mix in black Prismacolor because the wax helps keep the graphite down. Fixative, in my opinion, ruins a lot of drawings. It's way better for charcoal.
@@bobbyrebholz2183thanks! I didn’t figure you were spraying each page, but the black prisma is a cool solution! I also not your sketchbook is not spiral bound, that probably helps too, I would imagine.
You misunderstood what I said. You definitely need to work towards it if you want it, I was talking about artists wanting it quickly and realizing they have work to do.

Such a real thing to feel, a lot of people embrace more less creepy and more cute or happy but the scary stuff is what can be relaxing to all of us.

Deep thoughts. I was so entranced I stopped paying attention to the drawing.

Funny how it started as a therizinosaur of sorts and ended up as the giant eel from the Turok reboot.

"You either got it or you don't", I disagree with that part. You can certainly sit down and learn a specific art style.
