My husband who passed 6 years ago, had a saying. “You don’t live here alone and dirty it alone so you should never have to clean it alone” he helped me cleaned the house all the time.
Dilute water and vinegar and get the girls a spray bottle and micro fiber cloths and it’s cheap and environmental friendly and healthy not toxic work wonders for all surfaces kitchen mirrors every surface tip for kitchen pots pans stove top oven lemon 🍋 juice salt if something is needing a deeper clean but lemon juice and baking soda also baking soda in the fridge for a fresh smell absorbs food garlic onion anything it’s amazballs from The Netherlands 🇳🇱
We always talked to our children about “you GET to help” with family chores, not you HAVE to. Now that they are older it just happens. It’s such a part of their routine, they just don’t think about it. It takes gentle reminders and sometimes they asked for help, usually from another sibling, but now they are responsible teenagers and early 20’s that can clean and manage their space. You are amazing parents!! 💕
Good ideas to break down house cleaning into zones that are tidied up more regularly. I’ve changed my house cleaning methods now that I’m 73 and don’t have the energy of younger years. I dust and clean the kitchen on Tuesdays one week, vacuum and clean the apartment on Thursdays. Every other Tuesday I clean the bathroom thoroughly. That is so much easier and lasts. Other chores like laundry, groceries, car washing, etc. can be worked in. I never get tired from this and don’t have an inner nag if I stick to this schedule. 😍
I love the tidy zone idea!! I have a 14 yr old son and 9 yr old daughter. They’ve always helped around the house but just recently I made a chore chart. It has been great!!! It has taken so much off of me and helped my anxiety so much more than I expected. I clean houses for a living so when it comes to my house, I’m usually wiped out when I get home so keeping it picked up is so important!! We do occasionally do a tidy up time before bed, but I love the idea of tidy zones!!!! Thanks so much for the tips!!!!
Putting things away when you've finished with them is the way to go. Kids, adults...it's just normality. If you don't teach them from the start you get a mess.
I am 68 years old and in my family there were 5 children born over 10 years and everyone helped keep our home clean. When I was about 7 my daddy taught me how to dust and it was my job weekly. He put 5 pennies throughout the area I was dusting--under a knick-knack.. or behind an object and if I did a good job, I found the coins and was able to get my very own hershey bar. As I grew up I had more and more responsibility and as a teenager could run a whole house and did ..laundry, cooking, run the vacuum. I was well prepared to go right into adulthood. You are doing a great job with your girls. I applaud you. God Bless your family!
What helps me with my ADD brain is to break things into small chunks. "Clean the whole kitchen" gets broken down into "wipe the cupboards" and "clean the coffee maker." It also helps me to put music (or RUclips) on to distract me, so I don't get overwhelmed..
Love watching your videos my youngest son has ADHAD since he has grown up into a great husband and father to 3 beautiful little girls, he is still very much very active he has to be doing something all the time. I have 3 sons and we never had a boring day. You are doing an amazing job raising your daughter's kudos to you and Phil. Many Prayers for ya'll

@@PhilandAlexyour reply just made my whole month!! You don't understand who much I look up to you guys. Iv been watching your channel for a little over 2 years and your so inspiring keep up the amazing work!!!!! 🙏🏼

You are great parents raising sweet, intelligent, confident young ladies. Thank you very much for making me smile and laugh! LOVE and PRAYERS ALWAYS from Gainesville Florida.❤🙏😊🙏❤
i got these blue micro cloth thingies for cleaning they are blue for bath room... they are used for bath room only! the bamboo cloth for mirrors and windows are the only ones that 'cross' rooms or areas. i even cut and sewed up some of the blue cloths to fit on the Mr clean extender scrubber so after cleaning the shower and bathtub with it they put the blue cloth on it and do the floor. then all the cleaning cloths go in the bucket or the laundry room tub and I clean those.
My gracious I was laughing so hard @ Philip!! Brilliant way to keep your home clean and tidy, Alex and to keep the littles happy to do their part. Love to all!
Omgosh!!! Phil reminds me of my 9 year old son!!! My son has SEVERE ADHD!!! When his meds stop working, we call it his "But first syndrome"!!! He starts doing 1 thing and gets distracted by another thing, so then he starts that thing, and gets distracted by another thing... So it's his "but first syndrome", meaning he says, "Mom, I will finish making my bed, but first I gotta put my toys away!!! I will put my toys away, but first I gotta finish coloring this picture for you!!!"!!!LoL!!! Cracks me up!!! All you can do is laugh and walk away because they are so serious and so much heart felt compassion goes into everyone of their responses!!! Love love love it!!! Love your family and everything you're striving to do with your family!!! God bless!!! Kids love to help and love responsibilities!!! When my kids would say to me why do we have to help clean the house??? My response was/is "We all live in this house, we all make this house dirty, so we all need to return the favor, by keeping the house clean and tidy so it knows we appreciate everything this home does for us... Team work makes the dream work!!!" BTW, I do a ton of canning and since you are new to the canning world, I will gladly answer any questions you have... I also have some amazing recipes that have been passed down in my family that I will gladly share with you!!!😂🤣😅💜💚💜
Awe! I love it haha. Yes that’s exactly Phillip. And it’s something I love most…he is SO good at keeping life fun and exciting. Oh that would be a dream! If you lived close by we could do a canning day!
Love this! You should look into fly lady cleaning. When my kids were little my husband was in the military and gone more than he was home. (Out of a year and a half between deployment he was home 45 nights). I discovered fly lady and it took it from being overwhelming and more than I could handle to being so simple. It was amazing
Absolutely, there is no better child then a child that was shown by a parent! I am proud of the way my two turned out and today, they have their own family and the trend has worked it’s way down! Love Love what you’re working with them!
What you said Alex was so well said. Apart from my hysterical laughing at you guys in the beginning it reminded me that when my girl was little we lived with my mum. I’m a clean freak everything has its place and mum not so much. But the two things I’m proudest of is teaching my girl manners and respect and to have a clean home and put things in there place makes our home run more efficiently and we are a team. Shanny’s 25 now and in her own home and she rang the other day and said thanks mum for teaching me manners so many of young people I meet just don’t say please and Thankyou. She then preceded to say that although she loves being a clean freak herself now it does cause a few problems in her relationship with her partner about putting things in there place. It was so lovely to hear her thoughts and for her to appreciate why I used to encourage her as a young child. Made me so proud. Although she said she still hates doing the dishes and really needs to work on that! I had a chuckle over that it was about the only thing we fought over when she was younger. Loved this video love you guys. Loads of love leisa Western Australia xx
Just wanted to thank you for your prayers for my husband and I when I reached out to you when we were in the hospital with COVID. We are both home as of last night. My husband had to come home with oxygen but I know that is the last hurdle. I know the Lord has more for us as individuals and as a couple that have been married for 50 years to do for Him. Thank you again.
I love the idea of cleaning small areas through the day! We used to try to schedule cleaning days, but when you do that, it's so easy to put it off if other things come up. Pre-COVID, I would do a big round of cleaning before someone would come to visit, but COVID and the lack of urgency to tidy up led to some pretty bad habits that we're trying to overcome now.
Long time viewer and first time commenter here 🙋🏻♀️Amazing content thank you! Please keep it coming. I especially love getting inspiration as to how you get your kids involved in cleaning!
Love you alex& Phil you are the true inspiration to today's generation of love family togetherness and praise above all may God Bless you and the Family
I found with my kids, grand kids and friends kids. If you give the kids a JOB they are happy to do it. If its a chore they wont. Write a list of things that have to be done and let your kids and parents (yes us ADHD ones too) pick what you want your job to be until the list is done. Jobs get done but chores don’t. My brain has to multitask. I have to do 10 things at once and yes I do get them done. My husband can only concentrate on one thing at a time. Lists and jobs work.
Its good parents teach their kids to clean when they're young. We are their first teachers. Its important everyone pitches in. It's just how a family works. Great job mom and dad.
Oh my goodness, Phil in the beginning with the vacuum! I was dying!! 🤣🤣🤣 Also, I would love to see a clean with me, with before and afters. I don't know why, but they're so therapeutic for me, and give me a boost to start cleaning or organizing myself!
I used a chart reward system with my littles. I made bullet lists with words and images. Then I laminated them and stuck them to each kid’s bedroom doors. Had one in the bathroom too. It really helped them be more self sufficient and feel proud, as well as making it easier for me too. I just took the last one off the back of my kiddo’s door and a tear or two fell. 😢 Stay well and embrace that amazing little person magic. ✨🌻✨
Children are very capable . My boys have done their laundry since they were about 7 years old . My thought was if they can operate a computer and other electronics then they can easily operate the washer and dryer .
This is really great stuff. I really like what you said about them being happier with doing the work when they have their own zones that they are responsible for. It is so important to start in time! I feel that one of the main reasons that many kids and teenagers are rebellious these days is that their independence is bigger than their responsibilities. They want to grow up and make their own choices but they are not being given the safe framework. One of the main goals of parenting should be to raise the children into young adults that can handle any aspect of taking care of a home, handling money and holding down a job. I really believe that this is the road you are walking in raising these girls. ❤ We have been doing this as well and we are tasting the fruits of it. Is everything perfect? Of course not! Everyone have good and bad days and of course they also need to have the freedom to be kids!. But just as an example... if I'm working and don't have time, my 13-year-old can plan, shop for, cook from scratch and clean up after - a fancy dinner with guests with zero supervision and she is happy to do it and loves the freedom. Her brothers will take on cleaning the house and keeping dishes at bay. This is just an example. We have 3 teenagers and a tween, and I'm amazed by their maturity and responsibility. They'd rather spend the afternoon helping a young mother with toddlers, or help at kids' camp at church, than going to the mall with a friend. They love feeling of being needed, cherished and capable. ❤
I can tell that you are a true pastor's wife the way you talk which is wonderful in my book I'm really surprised that Philip quit that he probably loved it so much
When you buy the towels you could color coordinate like a restaurant does! Each girl gets two towels: red for the toilet/ bathroom floor, blue for common areas of the house, and then a yellow towel for your kitchen space!! It ensures they keep nasty toilet messes on only one towel and will help them if they ever get a food service job
I love it... lists!!! We have bought our home 3 1/2 years ago and we just are now it is just my husband and myself for the first time, it is like we just moved in. For the last 1 year and half we were trying to help out good friends but it ended very bad. Anyway this weekend my husband and I have mad lists of what we want to change. It is awesome. Today he walked in from work seen "The List" he said "oh my is there dates on there when all this needs to be done?". All I could do is laugh. This video was great. Thank you for sharing. Oh I did make a list for our granddaughters ( live in two different states) one is 2 & our is almost 4. I made them I baking sheets with smiley face magnets. So every time they do what's on the list that day they can put a smiley face in that space for that day.
Watching your vlogs always puts a smile or a laugh on my face!😂 an idea for the girls bathroom cleaning tho! Norwex has a 5 pack of travel size envirocloths! They wud be perfect to hang in each one😊
Having specific chores is so important. Teaches responsibility, makes them feel a part of the family unit. Praising also is such an important part of this. Thanks for this
I love how you’re teaching them to contribute and share household duties without expecting perfection. What’s that old saying, ‘My house is clean enough to be happy and dirty enough to be healthy’. When my kids were getting older and into more crafts, sports, band, cooking, friends, etc, we implemented what we called the CAYG system: Clean As You Go. It became second nature for our household and took a lot of stress off of them, and me, because they knew what to do and what was expected amongst all the busyness. Thanks for sharing your family and homestead as both grow and thrive! We’re just curious if the mailing address you have in your bio here is current? We sent a little something (ref to your chickens) to your family and just hoping we sent it to the right place. No problem if it’s been overlooked, as we’re all so busy, but just checking about the address for us public to send something to. God bless you all!
I’m the opposite because the word means Madame or my lady making the person saying it lesser than. No I love children to say yes mum or mommy as it’s so much warmer and loving.
Oh my gosh Phillip is so funny when he is not outside working I would just make that his zoon only he so makes me laugh but I love u guys so funny well done Alex great job
Hopefully, I’ll have a NT spouse to force my Neurodivergent ADHD butt to follow through and to do tasks I hate but need to be done 😅😂🤞🏻🤞🏻 I love how Philip is being more open about his ADHD, so relatable!!
Haha our girls’ room is always messy too. But so is mine. We are all learning together. We are just practicing having a system in place so when guests come over we can do a quick tidy and worry about deep cleaning later 😊
@@PhilandAlex when guests come over it’s usually mom running around like crazy en scrubbing everything that should have been cleaned a long time ago 😂 So I understand the need for a plan that works better than that 👍🏻 Just started making a chores list for our oldest who finds it difficult to tidy her room. She gets lost in her thoughts and is easily distracted by the things in her room. So instead of cleaning up we find her playing with her stuff 😁 Breaking it up into little tasks makes it so much easier for her. We got that from you guys, so thank you 🙏🏻
Check out the Flylady cleaning system. ...you can tweak it for your Family.💖 "Sink Reflections" is a good book to Read. Many hands make light the work!! 😊
HuvAlex& Phil thank you so so so much I have not laughed this much I can't remember when I have my grandson and his dad son in law with Adhd we to do zones of not it's a war zone everywhere so now we do clean as we do breakfast lunch supper with the song Clean Up Clean up and my grandson asked me if he could put the vacuum in the pool and I said why heww said we don't need to clean up every day but why not the broom he said it's more fun to play broom ball pool at Oh Boy 👦⚾🏀🎾🏋🏸🏒🎤
I found your new video before anyone else. Woop woop. He is so much like my hubby at times. So dramatic and funny. I also do the clump of toilet paper to wipe down the toilet as a quick clean up. It's easy and quick. Kids also have to work to clean up the floors and with laundry. They are just turned 7 and 4.
I love your family, and I love the idea of children having chores to do, but when do the children get to be children? I realize that we are still in a pandemic, but I feel that the girls need to learn how to socialize with other children and learn how to pick and choose friends, even if it is with other home school children. Can you address this at some point?
We have play dates with our friends about 2-3 times a week...then we have Sunday school and dance class. We just aren't filming our bigger girls as much as we used to so you dont see a lot. But thank you for asking! I think this is SO important for kids as they develop.
Do you reward the girls with prices or something?? I've 2 18 MO twins and even though they're still pretty young they're starting to understand little instructions and I'm not a fan of having to give things for doing what's someone it's supposed to do, that's why I would like to know what strategies do you guys use. Tks in advance 😁
If i ask my children to help with anything they just either reply with a no and walk away or they will jump up and down crying 😔 which then triggers my anxiety
Wow…. sorry but this isn’t ur usual standard fun vid guys - the kids are being trained to work like Gloriavale in NZ!!! It’s like child slaves or something. they’re only 5 & 6 or whatever!!! making a kid clean the toilet is just wow…. at that age, cleaning up should be tidying books, toys, clothes, helping to cook a little bit, not having a share of the house as if they were living with flatmates! Shocked. Let them be kids.
My husband who passed 6 years ago, had a saying. “You don’t live here alone and dirty it alone so you should never have to clean it alone” he helped me cleaned the house all the time.

Jordan page does zones too! She has 7 kids!
Laughing out loud watching Phillip vacuum.I also have ADD which puts a whole new spin when it comes time for chores.
This video made me so happy! It is so important to be intentional about teaching children adaptive skills!
Good work in loving memory of Brooke and Lynn RIP and Lynn's mom RIP my niece was in a head on collision on a go cart accident
Dying 😂😂😂😂... Literally my life!! My hubby has ADD, my son ADHD! This could not be more accurate!!😂😂😂😂
Alex you are a amazing super loving mom !!!
Love this vlog. You guys are so funny. God bless!
I love the tidy zones…🥰🥰🥰
I love the tidy up chore idea. Maybe use some visuals for the girls chore lists?
Love hearing your girls say "Yes Ma'am". I was raised saying that and so were my children and SOME of my grandchildren. Music to my ears.
I’m the opposite because the word means Madame or my lady making the person saying it lesser than. No I love children to say yes mum or mommy as it’s so much warmer and loving.
The hoovering. So relatable!
You guys are so sweet. Great idea 😍
Oh my gosh Phillip is so funny when he is not outside working I would just make that his zoon only he so makes me laugh but I love u guys so funny well done Alex great job
Wow ! The girls are growing up so fast
How is your favorite way to clean window blinds
Oh my goodness I love love both your personalities you had me laughing so hard!
What kind of mascara do you use Alex it looks so good on you ?
I have a daughter with ADHD (and other things). Phil was spot on in what my life looks like. 😂 Ya'll are the best!
Hopefully, I’ll have a NT spouse to force my Neurodivergent ADHD butt to follow through and to do tasks I hate but need to be done
😅😂🤞🏻🤞🏻
I love how Philip is being more open about his ADHD, so relatable!!
Bless them. Mine had chores to do. And I did it by age. It was how they earned pocket money xx
So great to see! My kids are having a hard time just cleaning their own room, let alone anything else lol!
We got that from you guys, so thank you 🙏🏻
Have you thought about using the water method to preserve your fresh eggs? (Water & lime) Would be very interested in watching you save extra eggs!!
I think Phil is the rowdiest of all the kids 🤣
So impressed!!! Teamwork makes the dream work!!!! Missed seeing your sweet Cassidy though😟❤✝️
Get some scrub daddy products! Those could be fun for them and they work great!
Oh I have ADHD, and I vacuum like 6/7 times a day. I see one spot and I absolutely can’t walk over it and then I vacuum the entire level
Just brought up making chore charts with my husband haha. Thanks for the video!
Your thumbnail is awesome! 🤣
“I did and I deeeeply regret it”hahahahahah omg the beginning of this video has me laughing tears haha
If I had found a guy like that, I would have married him! But I didn't :(
So great starting them young
So many eggs, that's amazing, have you tried to pickle them? They taste lovely and last for a long time
Life skills! What a great idea.👍 Chores are the only thing that keeps our house running.
Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen
We do chores after every meal :) and a chore chart that rotates what they pick up so everything gets picked up once a day. We have 4 kiddos
That’s awesome! I love that
Good for you! Teaching your family how to have jobs they can be proud of. Teaching them how to care for themselves when they are grown! Love it!
They make flushable wipes... that might be a possibility for you.
Hysterical Phillip 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do you reward the girls with prices or something?? I've 2 18 MO twins and even though they're still pretty young they're starting to understand little instructions and I'm not a fan of having to give things for doing what's someone it's supposed to do, that's why I would like to know what strategies do you guys use. Tks in advance 😁
Alex, I love the hand towel in guest powder room! Do you have the details on where you got it from? ❤️
Did this with my two children when they were young.❤️
If i ask my children to help with anything they just either reply with a no and walk away or they will jump up and down crying 😔 which then triggers my anxiety
I had a special needs student who would say, "But I don't mannna!" I used that phrase for years! 😆😆😆
I’m 32 going on 33 in January and I still make a list of things that I need clean because I will forget to.
I wish I would have known this when my boys were little. I love your videos
You and Fhil are so Funny🤣😂🤣
Alex what do you recomend to have a 2 year old boy help out with?
He could help with putting the silverware away from the dishwasher 😊
Wow…. sorry but this isn’t ur usual standard fun vid guys - the kids are being trained to work like Gloriavale in NZ!!!
I swear I love you both soooooo much😂😂♥️♥️
Yes I show my toddler to clean up and he does most of the time 😁
