Thanks Scott. I really appreciated listening to your insights.
Time to make the jump, fellow Canadians! This bill is crazy.
This Bill is a "Reauthorization and amendment" to two laws that are currently in place. Otherwise: no comment
Scott is telling the world about a potential law where the USA is trying to force the Nicaraguan people to do things a certain way, or the USA will stop investing money into Nicaragua. And you are attacking Scott? I don't think you understand what Scott is trying trying to do. He wants the USA to mind its own business and leave the Nicaraguan people alone. Most people from the USA do not care if our government is trying to hurt Nicaragua or its people. You are putting your hate on the wrong person.
I could be wrong but I'd say that guy's most likely a Nica living in the US and is pro-sanctions. Just trying to help you make some kind of sense of his ranting. lol.
RIGHT ON SCOTT, EXCELLENT EXPLANATION, NO FAIR, NICARAGUA ECONMY NEEDS PEOPLE LIKE YOU, YOU ARE AN EXAMPLE OF AMERICAN DREAM AND NOT BEEN IN USA, THIS IS MY PROBLEM, USA GOVERNMENT THINK THAT WILL AFFECT THE PRESIDENT ORTEGA? NO, THE POPULATION OF NICARAGUA WILL BE AFFECTED IT. RIGHT ON USA!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just a Caveat: Either house of Congress can propose a bill. Only the House of Repreentatives may originte a SPENDING Bill. (Of course, Bob Dole, the last Republican I voted for [for president], showed how the Senate could re-write a spending bill from the House, and then send it back to the House, and onto reconciliation.)
Dose us not sanction any country which has different plan than us?
Nice caveat. Interesting. Really, they can do that? What is the point? Don't they have more important battles to fight on the home front? Just sayin'
Nicaragua is not compliant...
@@romi2276 Not compliant with what?
@@1Corinthians15.1-4 They expelled western ngo´s and I think the Vatikan. They are friendly towards Russia. Now they want to bring Germany to the International Court of Justice for aiding Israel committing genocide. We are the second largest supplier for weapons in this war and we stopped every aid we gave in the past to Palestine. And for a suffering american economy probably everyone is a rival... But I do not know what reasons are announced here.
Well, they CAN do anything that the Supreme Court doesn't stop.
Time is Now
So miss universe from Nicaragua made her point.
Wow she is hot
Rubio is a piece of work. Florida needs a new senator.
Rick Scott is a ... 'jewel' ... also.
This bill is not going anywhere unless DJT gets elected in '24. So you US voters, keep that in mind...
This is exactly the kind of thing he'd love to sign. Reason number 89,374 to make sure he says out of the White House.
I feel the opposite to be true. Not that DJT wouldn't sign it, but that the current administration is so openly anti-central america (Kamala did her famous central american tour to tell us all how little the US thought of us) that i would guess Biden would rush to sign it as well.
How would they inforce it most businesses don’t have paperwork attached in Nicaragua it would just mean you do strictly cash business
Oh no, the paperwork is intense. Every dollar coming in is tracked by the US. The US has the global banking network under close watch. Not that I'd recommend trying to skirt such a law, but if you tried you'd find it insanely hard. I mean if you were walking down the street and found $100 cash while in Nicaragua and instead of buying snacks with it you gave it to a buddy to invest in a new business... no, no one will ever catch you. Nor do the US actually care that you invest $100.
What you won't be able to do is move your REAL investment money anywhere in the world and put it into investments in Nicaragua. From a mechanism standpoint, it's nearly impossible to not be visible when doing that. Unless your investment amount is so small that you can do it via ATM transactions, the US sees it all coming and going. It's not hidden or secret at all.
It might feel like "how would they know", but 99% of the time, they know very well. Global money laundering laws have made banking SO transparent. There's no means of getting enough money to buy a car, let alone start a business, without both governments having to approve it.
It seems strange that the US isn't looking to sanction El Salvador considering how vociferous Bukele is against the US.
Well my guess is that they ARE "looking" and just haven't taken action yet as doing so when things are going SO well and so obviously well would be foolish. I guarantee that they are trying to figure out what harm that they can do. They are just working on figuring out what excuse to manufacture.

If the US puts forth a bill that would prevent Americans from investing in Nicaragua. It would raise a red flag in other countries not to invest.
At a national level, maybe. At an investor level, anything but. It's a huge announcement to investors that the opportunity is better than normal. Real investors are generally smart and know that US political games are a great way to make big payoffs at the expense of Americans
Oh, it is really about the church! I talked before listening, now I do. A catholic country emancipating from the Pope... I think Nicaragua is very cool!
wouldn't that mean that McDonald's burger king and all other American companies are out?
no, why would it affect them? remember it doesn't affect 1) existing investments, only new investment money and 2) franchising are invested in by third parties not the brand owners
You left out Chinese and Russian investment to fill the void.
those too, but those happen already quite a bit and i wonder how much will pick up. you make a good point but observation tells me that the style of investment from those places is more institutional and not competing with US investors. European and Canadian investors invest in the same tactical style businesses that Americans do.
Nicaraguan National Bank has my Dollars 💰💰💰🤑
All but in name, all but in practice, the United States has been the colonial master since we helped break up the Spanish Empire. The Hispanic people went from being a Spanish subject of the King of Spain to semi colonial vassal of the United States. Ortega broke that paradigm.
I dont think laws are retroactive in the States.
They can be. They can do anything that they want. Laws are often made up after the fact (that's an official law that judges can do that.) So while a written law might not officially take effect retroactively, the US allows prosecution for laws that don't even exist on paper and are created after the "crime" has happened and you are still liable for it. There was a major case about that 2-3 years ago in Tennessee and the federal courts upheld the "the judge makes the law after the fact" was totally the official US system and as long as it doesn't violate civil rights (the law can't be racist, for example) then that's how the law works. Welcome to the "common law" world.
Separation of church and state goes both ways they should stick to Jesus and leave politics out of the pulpit in America you can loose your tax free status from doing so.
"can loose" and "ever would actually lose" are very different things. In the US religion and government and totally intertwined at every level. This bill alone is proof.
I believe that you are a new type of mercenary, a mercenary cybernetic. You do not know the difficulties of the true Nicaraguan who surrounds you every day who does not have money to take home and cannot feed his family three times a day
and that is based on what? you say that as i read about how foreigners are attempting to hurt the nicaraguan people. you seem to be responding negatively to someone trying to help. that makes your statement incongruent.
What are you talking about man? I'm Nica and you're not going to fool me with your silly and senseless comment. If you or someone else is starving in Nicaragua is simply because they don't want to put enough efforts. We've always been a poor country, the current Government does not have a magic wand to fix years of wars among many other factors. Get a life dude! BTW I'm not Sandinista, just in case.
I'm just curious. Are you native Nicaraguan? Do you live in Nicaragua? Do you feel that all Americans, Canadians etc with a RUclips channel that is promoting Nicaragua are cyber mercenaries? Personally I perceived Scott's video as trying to bring awareness to Americans as to what our crazy government is trying to do to an innocent nation that doesn't deserve what they (the US govt) are trying to do. Im not attacking you, im genuinely interested in your opinion. Every country has problems. My country, the US has become authoritarian and is spiraling out of control not to mention alot of my fellow citizens are consumed with hatred and greed. That is why I'm looking to live in another country such as Nicaragua. Do you believe that immigration hurts Nicaragua?

Your analysis is completly wrong, because investors like legal certanty, if the bill moves Nicaragua will be seen as a very risky place to invest and not only american but most western investors will be vey weary of any investments in Nicaragua, prices will come down even more.
Also you are not considering the most obvious reaction of the Nicaraguan Goverment to seize property of any american in place, that could easily happen, or to make the lives of americans and westeners in Nicaragua pretty awfull.
Be advise Daniel Ortega loves his foreing pets, and has in the recent past kidnaped allies, try to keep safe.
Good investors know that certainty = low returns. That's what "worker bees" are told when people want to manipulate them. Actual investors, those with money, those with success, look for uncertainty. That's where the money is. That's where the smart go. And smart investors know that the lack of US investments means nothing as far as risk, it lowers risk, because American investors represent higher risk for the market.
Saying that Nicaragua "could" seize property is lazy. The US could just bomb us all. If you are just going to say "what is physically possible" and not something based on anything then you can make up anything at all. The reality is that my property in the US is at far more risk of being seized than something overseas. But ALSO reality is that the risk in the US is super low, too. If someone is saying "but random people COULD steal from you" doesn't mean anything. That's not a risk in the real world.
That's like saying "Nicaragua could vote to be a province of Canada tomorrow." I mean... technically I suppose they could take that vote. And Canada could allow them to join. Neither thing is actually impossible. But if you suggested that, we'd just laugh because while "possible", it isn't based on any real world event.
or a friend who told me today that he went to get a tooth pulled in the famous socialist system. of health and they removed the wrong tooth. A person like you, a mercenary who sells the idea of Nicaragua, a paradise that by the way is in its natural beauty and people, but who is currently experiencing the worst ordeal in its history, lives in a large concentration camp, without being able to express himself only with two options prison or exile -lose citizenship-
making up a friend's story, is really funny. Do you believe yourself? Come to visit, it is a paradise and you, yes, even you are welcome.
What are you rambling on about? Gather your thoughts and try to express yourself in a way others can understand. Like Scott.
I am an interpreter for medical insurance companies that are based in the US and this is common in the US as well. It´s anecdotal also.
You know that I did not want to participate or give importance to you, but it is too much, I think that for any decent Nicaraguans this is a shame. I believe that a foreign person like you who cannot or does not know how to live in his country of origin, is either because he never had a stable job in his country and did not generate enough resources to have an honest and decent old-age retirement, or You are running away from something, and I feel sorry not for you but for your children - if you have one - because they are not guilty but the results of your decisions.
so you are just blanket anti-immigrant across the board. no person should ever move to another country. no reason. just the concept of human migration bothers you? if so, what does that say of america.... a nation of nothing but immigrants?
