    Class 11 - Chapter 26 Circulatory System & Pathologies:
    - The Circulatory System is comprised of 2 major systems - Cardiovascular & Lymph Vascular:
    -
    - Cardiovascular System: Cardio = heart. This system is critical for vitality. Death is determined
when the heart stops, because death to the brain
is only several minutes past the time that the
    heart function ceases.
    - This is the body’s delivery system, allowing fixed
cells within the body access to oxygen, nutrients,
immune cells, medication, and allowing waste
    removal for elimination, etc.
    - Lymph Vascular System: Removal and control of waste.
    About the Heart:
    - The heart has 4 ventricles (chambers): Begin
functioning embryologically and can be see working in an
    ultrasound at around 21 days.
    - Blood vessels are referred to as a highway system
    - Arteries are like major Interstates, Veins like state
highways, and capillaries like residential streets.
    - Transportation: Movement of material acquired by the
body and used for the body (ie: oxygen).
    - Pathogen: Disease causing agent (virus, bacteria,
sources or trauma - such as radiation, etc.). Typically, we
focus on external pathogens such as the recent virus
causing COVID and the associated Pandemic.
    Why is blood clotting important?
    - Blood pressure stabilization is required to
properly deliver blood through the body. Inability to
clot can cause bleeding out and death.
    - Blood is a thick stew of water, oxygen, cells of
nutrients and wastes, etc., warm, and red, and
    slightly adhesive/viscous.
    - Blood is slightly alkaline (pH is basic on the acid/base scale, with neutral at 7 and blood around
    14).
    - Blood should be .5-1*F warmer than the body.
    o 98.6*F body temp = 99.5*F blood temp.
    o 37*C Body temp = 37.6*C blood temp.
    - Oxygen-rich blood is brighter and oxygen-poor blood is deeper, and color, temperature, and pH,
    can indicate certain pathologies.
    - 3 of the 5 liters of blood in the human body are
oxygen poor at any given time, returning to the
lungs/heart for reoxygenation. 1 of the 5 is
reoxygenated, and 1 is feeding the body.
    - On average, for every 1 white blood cell, there
are 660 red blood cells. AKA about 6M red to 1K
    white.
    Plasma:
    - Water: 90%
    - Solutes: 10% - All the other nutrients, wastes,
    gasses, hormones, etc.
    - Formed Elements: 45%
    - Leukocytes & thrombocytes (platelets): 1% of
    the 45%
    - Erythrocytes: 99.9% of the 45%
