  • These oxtails were seasoned and smoked for a few hours to set the savory, smokey flavor. Then placed in a cast iron pot with beef stock, onions, garlic, and braised until pull-apart tender. This must be one of the best beef cuts on the smoker. Absolutely delicious and smokey!
    Recipe
    ∙ 4kg Oxtails
    ∙ Salt & pepper
    ∙ 3 onions
    ∙ 5 garlic cloves
    ∙ 1L beef stock (2 stock cubes+1L Hot water)
    ∙ Fresh thyme

    Man that looks so lekker !! This english south african aunty will have to try this recipe . Just need to go buy a smoker grill :)) . This is a fantastic way to do Oxtail.

    Ai tog dit lyk lekker! Ek het n pak osstert in die diepries maar daardie pak is nou heetemal te min! Gaan hierdie week nog n pak bykoop om seker te maak daar gaan genoeg wees. Dankie vir hierdie lekkerte idee.

    I suppose this could be pulled off in a normal kettle WEBER? Do you use sekelbos?
    Did you use any other smoke chips, if so, what flavour/wood?

      Thank you so much! It can be done in a Weber, charcoal snake method, and your choice of smoking wood. I'm using a mix of sekelbos and other bushveld wood. Mesquite has a very similar taste and aroma to sekelbos and acasia. If you are only going to use wood make sure you have more coals to wood left to burn, then you wont have any dirty smoke👍

      Hi! This is a self-build gas-spitbraai that I converted to use wood and charcoal. Only the vents are from a old Weber braai😁👍

    Nee kyk, ek gee moed op, ek sal nooit so lekker bees stert kan eet nie, my bees stert potjies lyk nou na boelie beef teen daai, en nog 'n vars video ook, juis nou Winter in SA, kan my net in dink in n warm kaggel vuur plaas huis met daai kos, ek is verpletterd nou
