If you like amazing instrumental play with great vocals and consistently brilliant songwriting, this is your band! Band-Maid's core is hard rock, but as you'll see, they branch out into many styles and genres, while never losing their identity. You're right about the lead vocalist, Saiki (rhymes with 'psyche'). Her vocals fit in a rich alto range, unlike a lot of female j- or k-pop/rock/metal vocalists. Her vibrato is also unique and beautiful (IMO), and she does indeed throw in the occasional gritty rasp when the moment calls for it. They formed in 2013 and songs were initially written for them, then in 2016 they started writing all their own songs.
