    Today I am going to show you how to get rid of unnecessary Windows 11 features that Microsoft bloated us with with the release of their all new operating system. You can make it usable and customizable with the help of a few patches and registry knowledge. Windows 11 is a burden, Microsoft consistently tries to kill Windows as a family of products.
    Command to open the secret control window: explorer.exe shell:::{05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9}
    Please note that the shell control applet was removed in latest (as of October, 2023) Windows 11 builds. It might not work on your side, and that's why.

    I'd actually recommend StartAllBack over Start11. It brings dark mode to a lot of places on top of providing a hybrid Windows 11/10 taskbar that is the best of both worlds.

    8:44 Interesting that the old Windows 7 UI is still embedded within Windows, since you can see it for a bit when dwm is terminated.
    I wonder if they'll ever do an "NT 2", since Windows as it is, it's practically 4-5 layers of old OSes stacked haphazardly on top of each other, it really needs a refresh.

    This TPM and UEFI requirement for Windows 11 is just BS for the most part, there may be a security enhancement but who cares. I have got Windows 11 in my 7 years old machine using registry keys to bypass GPT Disk, UEFI firmware TPM, and SecureBoot requirements and them too on a 2014 Insyde BIOS without losing a single bit of data or using a live USB. My laptop now runs like its MacOS on M1 MAX. In fact Microsoft itself provides documentation on their website to let you install Windows 11 without all these requirements. Which means all this hype is just a marketing tactic to lure laymen into buying new licenses and upgrading their hardware. Damn these 'sell me this pen' category.

    I hate every change happened in this video. Every single change of it.
    I hate that clunky ribbon Windows 8 explorer, it's too crowdy. I used to install OldFileExplorer to bring back the simplistic Win 7 explorer look back in 8, 8.1 through 10. I liked the new rounded corner window as it is reminiscent of Aero Glass era Windows, so bringing the sharp corner back is just my nemesis, thankfully you didn't bring back that horrible 8 thick border too. With more blur translucent on every UI component, it's just dream come true to me (I guess I should've just Hackintosh my PC, ~~I wish~~).
    Sure, the new UI may still a downgrade UX wise compared to previous version, as you need to do extra step to everything (like context menu, accessing settings like taskbar setting, etc), but visually it's an upgrade and it's**much** better than 8 and 10 at their launch.

You can still find some windows 3.1 code even in windows 11. The problem is that windows 10/11 didn't bring enough new features or a *_COMPLETE_* design overhaul of windows to justify a new version. Windows 10/11 also added a lot of bloat and unnecessary things to windows and removed old often used features. Like pretty much any functionality of the taskbar in win11.

But they still share a large codebase, for example parts of explorer and some icons from xp are in Vista (even in windows 11). Second yes 3.11 was a dos program. So what? Windows is the king of compatability. With the HELP of some programs you can still run windows 3.11 software in windows 10. Even some menues in those programs link up to modern menus. That's because until windows 10 the great goal of windows was improvement in speed and user experience while still being recognizable and easily usable for people coming from previous releases. All of this was thrown over board in windows 10/11 twice. Again I never said the kernel was copied an os is way more than its kernel its the rest of the os that expirienced reuse. Rewriting every menu every feature coming from a previous release wouldn't be practical anyway.

    I wish there was a button at first setup or somewhere in the settings to change between the "tablet mode" UI changes, and mouse. Like it will ask if your input is mouse or touch, then the UI will change to have spacings or not have spacings in explorer, having a context menu or not having a context menu. and etc.

    If you're just gonna revert everything to Windows 10's stuff, you might as well just use Windows 10 😅
    I personally like everything in 11 so far apart from the removed stuff and no grouped apps on start, but they're adding all that stuff anyway.

    There is a app called Explorer Patcher and it has many features to bring back those features

  • @1jnk
    @1jnk 2 года назад +6

    For this I would recommend ExplorerPatcher instead of these things
    It's way simpler and comes with the real Windows 10 Start thingy
    Also StartAllBack if you want Explorer's dark mode consistency, skinned Windows 10 taskbar, context menu and also Win32 theme

    I knew Windows 11 was just Windows 10 with a tiny amount of changes, but I didn't expect it to be just some new stuff put on top of the old stuff.
    Anyway, I did the right decision and upgraded to linux.

    What a great and interesting video!
    Windows 10 was coming on so nicely after years of updates, then just in order to be able to shove a new number on to the Windows version, they've made so many backwards steps with Windows 11 - changes for changes sake, just as an excuse to release a totally "new" version. I am still on Windows 10 and very happy, won't be updating to 11 any time soon.

    Honestly all Windows needs at this point is a new base. Windows 11 is basically reskinned windows 2000. You can still find many old menus from XP and Vista. And its really starting to show its age. There are many bugs now and the name isn't accurate (NT=New Technology). MacOS gets a complete redone every 3-7 years and many Linux distros are similar.
