Imagine for a second that you're tasked with making a spy thriller for Marvel. And imagine that it will star Nick Fury, so you already have a strategic genius in the script. And imagine also that the villains of this spy thriller are shape-shifting aliens, the hands-down easiest thing you can do to generate surprise twists in a spy thriller (so easy that literally every MI movie has relied on their impossible perfect face masks like a crutch). And now also ALSO imagine that this show will be named after an already well-received comic run that's basically done all the heavy lifting for you about twice, maybe even 3x over if you count the first Ultimates run. And NOW...imagine you fail to use ANY OF THAT effectively. That's Secret Invasion.

The MCU is full of nerfed Marvel comics characters, it's about time they get ready for cosmic threats and Omega-level mutants.

The premise was to kill [fridge] Maria Hill to give Fury a 'personal' motive.
That sucks. But it gets worse, because Fury supposedly refuses to call the Avengers [bullsh1t!] because he thinks humans [really his ego] needs to stand up for earth themselves.
But in the end - he just calls in another SuperWoman character to clean up his mess after he fails.
So the final battle doesn't even pay off his revenge story.
Worst of all - you are supposed to forget that he is the blood sucker who stole DNA and set the whole catastrophe in motion.
He might as well have stolen sperm samples. lol.
Fury's character is just totally destroyed in this series.
Marvel is failing just like DC failed.
And the fanboys are in denial, again same as with DC.
Given the fact that Gravik was still working for Nick Fury during the events of endgame, it is extremely unlikely that he had the Iron Patriot kidnapped and switched out during that time or before it. Secret Invasion takes place years after endgame so that could still be considered a long time.
The Iron Patriot was only a thing for Iron Man 3 -long before Endgame

MCU needs a reboot. "SECRET INVASION" must be renamed as "CONVERSATION RAIDERS" for the sheer amount of useless dialogue used throughout the show. When they are supposed to convene the action sequences, all they do is simply talk. Who's even going to remember these dialogues Gravik is the easiest forgettable villain and probably one of the laziest characters. Varra's character seemed entirely pointless after a period of time. These fellows killed 'Talos' and 'Maria Hill' without even giving them their true worth. Frankly, "Nick Fury" should have also been killed so much so that there is more sequel of this anywhere. Ali Selim - Worst director, probably frustrated due to lack of pay. Honestly, not my favorite series I did like episode 2 and I did like the ending in episode 5. I liked Emilia Clarke as Giah Olivia Coleman was great too as Sonya and I thought Kingsley Ben Adir was a good villain. I did not like the idea of Maria Hill being killed that did not make me happy Samuel Jackson did a pretty decent job Looking forward to seeing him again in the Marvels. So I give this series a 4/10. Seemed like they had their budget cut halfway through filming Samuel L. Jackson on his best days and couldn't save the show. I think it's time to check out of the MCU I enjoyed secret invasion and thought it was good 4 days ago (edited) It's time to play: Dillon McDermot.. or Dermot Mulroney?!

It needs a reboot yes, but in general both Marvel and DC need to cool it on superhero media for a few years and let the dust settle before starting again without all this transparent modern politics injected into it or trying in vain to grab a female audience for superheroes that basically doesn't exist at the expense of the male one that does.
A few years will be time for the bad aftertaste of the bad decisions alienating male audiences to mellow if not be forgotten.
After 5-10 years the time will be ripe to start again.

I think it's time to check out of the MCU
Giah is cool as a new character. She really doesnt have too much outside super strength. A lot of the dna was from non powered people like gamora.
Gamora has super human strength and agility. You defend everything Marvel does no matter how awful. And you get a lot of things 'wrong'.
She has Thor's and Carol's dna
@@summertyme5748 it's opinion, not wrong, pal. She has maybe 8 or 9 real powers aside from super strength. I doubt she can combine her strength sources. And Gamora in the mcu hasn't shown either super strength or agility. She seemed more on black widows level.

I hated it from the moment they fridged Maria Hill. This one belongs in the no talent hack writer hall of shame.
It ended way better than it started. The 2 first episodes were pure trash (Althought Maria Hill deserved to die, ultra secondary character no one cares about).
Why did you not like the ending, and please give more specific reasons than vaguely saying bad writing, directing, or acting?
Well...I would take issue with "Great" as well. It was tepid, there were a few good sequences and some cool dialogue about how self-destructive human being have been and perhaps doomed to be but that was about it.

this show was garbage but i loved olivia colman and hope they give her more screen time. this was written like a bad fanfiction and the director said this was cobbled together and that tells you that is was a mess from start to finish. disney needs to stop pumping out garbage
They can't help it, these studios. DC goes from Dark Knight to Flash with its CG babies in microwave ovens, and the MCU counters with MODOK and Nick Fury crawling around a battle field STEALING BLOOD samples form his 'friends'. [That is something HYDRA would do.]
They can only do quality for so long and then they just started w@nking. That's what DC and MCU both are at this point, a w@nkathon.
The skrull invasion should’ve been a sub plot of the Kang saga that spanned from phase 4 throughout phase 5. I’m now convinced that the writers are skrulls in disguise

It’s only bad because it felt incomplete, the story I mean. I wasn’t upset at the fact Talos and Maria were killed, only the fact that it wasn’t acknowledged going forward.
If anything, I want a season two to complete the tale. I want to see Queen Varanke. What were all those bodies Gi’ah found? Will the Skrulls ever find a forever home? The President declared war on skrulls and innocent humans are killed in the process. Are we just going to ignore that?

Some of the CGI in the flash movie were bad while some were really great for example the intro scene of batman on his bike also the speed force scene but the climax was really bad i get where you are coming from.

@@isaiahwatkins1502it's not about budgets, Marvel has been slacking off a lot these past few years with Antman, Dr Strange, Thor, Black Widow, don't tell me those are budget issues too 🤦🤷. Plus it's not like Marvel hasn't pulled off stunning visuals with their shows, I mean Loki was awesome and that needed more CGI than this which should have been a spy thriller, and it's not like Marvel hasn't done well with scenes with spy thrillers, just look at the captain america scenes for all his solo films, even the iron man films still stand up despite the 1st one having so little budget.
Plus they had a long time to work on this, do note that if your only argument is budget then you don't know a thing. The main reason CGI has a bad stigma is because artists aren't given enough time to make these things, budget is never the issue or rarely is, but time. Some have to rush with at least 6 months production when it may take a year for some films or shows. But with this they shouldn't have any excuse because they were given so much time to do this, and yes the pandemic hit but again most of the artists work remotely, not everyone is in a studio

@romeomonteverde personally I don't care that much because my expectations aren't high for 6-9 episode shows by Marvel because I know they're just setting all of this up for Avengers 5 & 6. The movies haven't been great lately but they've never been. Phase 2 movies weren't top notch so this isn't new.

Yeah sure they were questioning why he was killing so many humans, but then killing his own kind to shut them up was not really the answer. weakening him overall. As ridiculous as it sounded a super skrull army (perhaps not as powerful as him idk how he would filter the powers out though) would have been there best option. But let's be honest that would have ballooned the budget into crazy levels for a TV show.
Gravik wasn't the perfect general that he thought he was. Some of the Skrull council and his squad began to notice his impetuousness immaturity and inability to lead but it was too late. He had already begun the Super Skrull process.
also they could copy face of president and start nuclear bomb themselves but the writer is just dumb and use rhodes to manipulate the president.

I actually kinda liked secret invasion, I do think they could have done more with the premise and the ending kinda felt rushed and little bit meh, but it's not the worst marvel show or the worst marvel show with bad CG. Also I don't think they're gonna do much with giah. I mean look at captain marvel people whined "oh no she's the most powerful person in the MCU, and she's gonna ruin it" and I wouldn't even call captain marvel the worst MCU film (not by a long shot.)

First of all, "Secret Invasion" was an absolute shit show. 80% of the series was riddled in pointless conversations.
We now understand the true potential and thrills generated by the Falcon and Winter Soldier for what it actually means to be an espionage saga.

Endgame truly was the endgame for the MCU. Captain marvel was trash (nobody wanted her character or Gamala Con). The Marvels will be trash as well. This is why I refuse to pay for Marvel movies anymore.

People disliked Civil War, which should’ve been an indication that Secret Invasion wouldn’t have been popular at all. We don’t want politics in action fantasy. Only The Boys can pull it off but that formula gets stale after a season.

I was talking about the premise, the comic, the movie is just an episode of super smash bros. brawl that puts the “what if vs.” scenario into practice. MCU can look even CW look good with your favorite actors, sure. But they’re gonna need a much better reason to fight one another than “I don’t wanna wear a mask!” Utterly laughable plot lines in movies nowadays.
