Ran into this song and made me tear up thinkin about my life over the past 50 yrs .
Thinkin what a fool i was for not going after my dreams and for settling for what didnt make me happy in life and wasting my youth .....live life like it's your last day here ...go for what makes you happy not what makes everybody else happy...
Charles Mullins I hear you brother, but pondering over what we could have been it’s a waste of time it will just eat at us from within instead enjoy every moment, and person that makes life worth living at the moment .... because in the grand scheme of things that moment when you are happy and satisfied is what really counts, and we can make that moment count by simply enjoying the fresh air the song of a bird the sound of rain or just the peace and quiet of nothingness.
The sign of a good song
Charles Mullins l love this song. Your right follow your dreams it's your life live it to the fullest!🌷👍
i wasted a large majority of my life after high school kicking around but i'm actually happy now ...
Charles Mullins I know that feeling nobody ever said it would be gone before ya knew it
Coming from Belcourt N.D. Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indian Reservation. My mother loved this song, God rest her soul!
Hoka Hey✊

I am very sorry for your loss, but why did you spend 2 years without seeing your dad even once?
That’s rough buddy, stay strong

Sorry kiddo, big loss. Your dad had great taste in music. Stay strong, God be with you.

Wish ld heard these guys 20 years ago. Love what they do . I'm 70 years old one of my favorite bands .
❤️👍
me too, im 76
This song means alot to those of us who know what he's talking about.
I could have been a guitarist in some band that made it but I took to the family trade of wrenching farming and driving truck. The girl who was gonna be the singer halfway settled somewhere outside of Nashville working whatever jobs she can get.
If u have to ask u don't know ..
If u know then you don't have to ask

Never too late!
Live your one life to the fullest. Its never to late
@@jamiewitchekan5956 J
All this that's written by others here ^ Never too late!
It's not even just a Rez song.. you know what.. I live on reserve and I sing it because it makes me feel better when I sing it and it gives me chills down my back when I sing it when I'm feeling low. A song isn't just a song to some people. 💕
Becca Paaige you just keep singing
Becca try whiskey myers out. closest thing to skynyrd besides smoke.
I feel the same way.
some songs just slam ya in the heart. some may never know the feeling. im blessed to have the love of meanings in music, of what it means to me. i can see my own life in my little town listening to this song.✌
σ
Besides their sounds, just LOOKING at these guys takes me back to the 60s & 70s.
You will only know how good this song is if you understand EVERYTHING he says
Hands down the best song that I have ever heard and now my friend thinks the same too. We are both in love with it, we both have grown up in a small town in Scotland in the middle of no where following in our fathers footsteps. If only my dad was still here to have a listen, reminds me so much of him R.I.P dad.
This song is one of greatest songs from this decade. It hits you like whiskey, make you think about lot things. When I saw BBS live, my eyes went in a few tears
This song reminds me of my father. I love you dad so much, and I appreciate that you stayed in that one horse town so that I could fly and dream.
Ben Holman he's not proud of you. he never wanted his son to be gay.
Hey what are you being mean
God bless you bro. Your dad is in heaven watching over you🙏🏼❤️
This Whippoorwill record is nothing short of a masterpiece. Every single song is just great.
Yes :)
This whole album is pure dynamite.
DYNOMITE !
You can just see the love these men had for each other. They are more than a band, they are a band of brothers. They made wonderful music together. It just didn't last long enough. So sad. I'm 80 years old and I listen to them everyday. They are timeless. Thank you for all Joy you bring in our lives.
My tiny town is exactly like this. I’m a freshman in high school right now and as soon as I get out I’m taking off. I just have one burden to carry on my shoulders and that’s the family ranch. If you’ve ever seen Yellowstone that’s exactly what it was like in the nineties. My great uncle snapped and sold 59,000 acres. By 2001 we were down to 1000 acres. Then in 2002 my dad went off to chase his dreams and my granddaddy couldn’t do it anymore and sold the livestock we have left. I’m the oldest daughter of an only son. My daddy carries this on his shoulders every day, trying to get our land back. He’s an old man at 38 because of this and he sat my down a few weeks ago and told me to sell the land when I got it, because he couldn’t do it. but I told him I would regret that for the rest of my life. The land is all I’ve ever had and all I ever will have. Though it is a burden on my shoulders, it is a burden I could not live without.
It's sad watching people sell off their land. And greedy land grabbers grabbing it up. I love that show Yellowstone. I hate to say it but I'm definitely on team Dutton.
Same
This song should support your efforts in becoming a damn man and damn good cowboy, you have a lot on your plate, but run it the way God tells you. America needs men like you,I'm proud of you, keep doing good
Go out, travel though the world! That´s greatest adventure, you can have!
I feel for this story.... I once sold 21 acres that was near and dear to my heart. Sold it due to extenuating circumstances __ worse than a bad divorce.......
Blackberry Smoke are an amazing band, I'm British not really their target audience but this song and lots of their stuff speaks volumes to me!
Good music will do that, Cheers..
How the hell could anyone not like this song?!!!! 🤘🇺🇸🍻
"i'm an old married man at the age of 23"....that line man!! lol it says so frickin much!!!!!!! only thing i hate about this song is it's only 4:16

I chose to walk in my father's foot steps and be a union carpenter. After 35 years in the craft this song speaks to my life. I am proud of my father's career and mine as well.
This song means something to everyone that proudly followed in their father's foot steps.
I was born and raised in Horse Cave, KY. I was lucky my father didn't want me to be stuck there, so he guided me into the USAF. I'm retired from the USAF now and back in "This one horse town".
leitchfield KY!
Paris ky bub
Mumfordville was my stomping grounds for a while😂
This song is second to no one. if it dosent ' give you goose bumps and tug at your heart you must not be an American. Charlie's voice is as pure example of Southern soul rivaled by no one alive today or anyone from the past. Thank you Guys
I was not born in US, I came here when i was 38 years old, now I am 48
But I can feel the same as you.
I'll never forget you Quinton teegee my best friend since we were children until the day you passed always my bro until we meet again my foster brother n my bro always were there for me through thick n thin I love you jonzy quince 😂 reminiscing daily especially our jokes n trips n everything ❤l
The first time I heard this it reminded me of my mother who did the exact thing in this town and tried every day to make her family happy and she recently broke our entire family’s idea that we all had to live right by each other and we now live in Missouri and we couldn’t be happier
Love, love, love this 💔❤️💔
Love the voice, love the tune, love the words, love the REAL music!
I was a OCB old Clint wood boy . And I am proud to be a country boy.
Northern Wisconsin native.
I loved my little town but it was time to explore the world, even though I miss it every damn day.
According to my mom, This was my dad's favorite song, I just recently lost him last year in November, he was the greatest and funniest man that I have ever met, he brought nothing but laughter with everyone he knew, it became more apparent with the many people that attended his funeral, and they all had fun stories of him to tell.
I miss him, so very much, everyday.
My chest tighted tears swelled happiness set in . such sweet sorrow.he's got this Right LOVE for you brother
70 yrs old and these guys touch me deep in my soul there a great group of folks to carry on ...id

living in a tiny town, this song hits home, literally. but i cant imagine living anywhere else. I've no desire to leave my home. much love from VA ✌
You all should see what other band are signed to this label! They certainly won't disappoint!
The eyes in the crowd were watering here in Little Nashville Indiana a couple weekends ago when they played it. Such a dynamic song that gives you chills. We need to protect our small towns more than ever!

Very good! It is amazing how the lyrics reflect the reality of the interior of Brazil as well. Just trade the baseball team for a football team.
Listening to this piece of song now here from Juiz de Fora, MG, 🇧🇷👊🇺🇸
Eu adoro esse estilo musical 😍👏👏👏!!!

I'm 60 yrs old n my son (39) just looks at me and shakes his head when we listened to this song together while working together.
First time I heard this song was at a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert. I have no idea how the hell I missed this gem of a song. I just stood there at the concert speechless, soaking this song in. This is truly amazing. Beautiful. Just Beautiful
Great tune! I had a replay of Farm Aid on TV in the background while I was doing some stuff around the house and literally stopped in my tracks when I heard this one. Excellent stuff!

Lyrics:
In the tiny town where I come from
You grew up doing what your daddy does
And you don't ask questions you do it just because
You don't climb to high or dream too much
With a whole lot of work and a little bit of luck
You can wind up right back where your daddy was
This little bitty town it ain't nothing new
We all stick around 'cause they all tell us too
Swallow your pride just to make your family proud
If I didn't think that it would shut the whole place down
I'd ride my pony right out of this one horse town
Yeah this one horse town
I'm an old married man at the age of twenty three
Got two little boys on the baseball team
And that might be their only ticket out
All they got is a worn out name
And a daddy that could've gone all the way
But I hung my saddle up and I settled down
This little bitty town, oh it ain't nothing new
We all stick around 'cause they all tell us too
Swallow your pride just to make your family proud
If I didn't think that it would shut the whole place down
I'd ride my pony right out of this one horse town
Yeah this one horse town
Oh yeah
This little bitty town, oh yeah it ain't nothing new
We all stick around 'cause they all tell us too
Swallow your pride just to keep your family proud
If I didn't think that it would shut the whole thing down
I'd saddle that one horse and ride it right out of this town
DZ-Lyrics Thanks bro
thanx ( signed up by a french man)
Thanks for the lyrics
Awww such a heart wrenching beautiful song. ❤️.
A solid friend 👊🏽 turned me on to this song he actually stumbled on like 3 months ago... Damn does it tug at the strings actually having lived & living a few of these verses!!!! Until hearing this, I always wanted my kids to stay close to me (24yr, 22yr, 20yr)... But now I want them to leave and spread thier wings and not do as Daddy did!!
rock e country de boa qualidade da nisso, blackberry smoke.
Bluegrass & Country.
"I'm an old married man at the age of 23, got two little boys on the baseball team". Man, how many 23yrs old young ppl are right now worrying about nothing but posting selfies at the gym, checking their timelines and watching their favorite youtubers' hollow opinions about absolutely nothing. Man, this good ol' world had already seen better days, oh yeah it did.
This is their one song that always gets to me. Thank you BBS....it says it all. Steve, from Wasilla, AK
This song will always remind me of our good times...........your truly a good friend............
There's not a day goes by i wanna hear this good old tune.
Amei essa música 👏👏😀👍💙
Sempre inclusa na play list!
Great song and is a true description of life in the south. How 1.4K people don't like this is beyond me.
one of the best songs i have ever heard!!!
Música foda pra curtir nas estradas do Brasil. Muito boa
If he rides his pony out of that one horse town, would it then be a zero horse town
Every time I listen to this song it remembers me of a good friend. It's been almost one year since he left us. When it comes out I just feel empty, but at the same time his memories fulfill me. I just can't explain
