In the 90's there was a Crash Test Dummies cartoon and I had a few of those figures and you should put one in each car and they come apart on impact. If I sent you two for free would you used them in your cars? Their vintage figures but it will be worth giving them to you for the greater good of crashing diecast cars for their safety qualities.
There should be toy cars that are just like hot wheels but when you rough house with them they slowly get damage but there's a button on the bottom where you would press it and it would fix the car and then you can do it all over again

If the car resist like that, instead of make of itself an accordion, then all the absorption of the crash you'll take it and suffer of multiple internal organ and bone damage, which results in fatality in most of the cases. That's what happened with cars of the past: Almost no damage on its structure, but driver and passenger seriously injured in a crash even only at 30MPH-45MPH.
These crumple zones in cars are designed to absorb the force created in the car crashed and overcome it, if the cars were completely solid and came to an instant stop, the consequences would be wayyy worse.
When I was a kid, I dreamed of simulating a crash test, just like in this video. I thought I was the only one in the world. I was wrong :)
