Well you can literally see players like zethiann (one of the most geared ?) do their full grinding sessions, and it’s in line with the silver they make…
Well, BDO is what it is and it's been like this for quite a while now. You don't want to buy anything? Fine, don't and you're good. Don't check what's on the pearl shop and that's that, just enjoy your game. And if you "feel" like you're not efficient enough without the p2w stuff? Well, you're among the reasons p2w games exist in the first place. BDO is perfectly playable without the p2w stuff. Will you be limited by for instance character weight on everything you do? Yeah, will make grinding painful. But you can still play and have fun. We need to stop pretending like BDO is getting bad. It's not, it's been on a similar trajectory for years now. There's no "beating the game", this is a sandbox MMO, not like Final Fantasy XIV. Now, you might argue, "But those are just conveniences, you don’t need them," and I sort of agree. However, you can’t expect a newbie to think that way. Meanwhile, those who can afford to buy massive amounts of crons or outfits can easily bypass these hurdles and that only makes veterans and newcomers discouraged. The game needs a revamp of the Pearl Shop. I’d rather pay a subscription fee like WoW than deal with what we have now.

I'm pleased to see that the console community has nearly come to a halt. I love Black Desert Online, but it's just a joke what they're doing with this game on every platform.
Currently P2W is as efficient as ever before in recent years? Outfits doubled in price, crons are needed for everything, lots of free stuff, gear is cheaper, you can easily make fail stacks now and jump from early to late-ish game is very quick now. Someone can get almost 720gs for less than what it costed to get only a PEN blackstar years ago. A big whale can just non stop buy outfits in the game for crons till they get IX kharazad as before they actually needed to grind or preorder debos and actually have play the game or wait more than a month of selling costumes to put a preorder.
To be honest they will continue to do this as long as player doesn't say a big "NO". Thank you for pointing this out i wish many other streamers stand against that (but most don't because of the partner program), that's something i started noticed when they added costume melt and naphart camp back in the day, and that's sad to see that they are starting to release more and more P2W stuff. I think at some point someone with a good visibility should organize a protest in the game, calling a specific server, time and location on each big server (NA/EU/KR/SEA), and i think this will put so much visibility onto these practice (if it's at a big scale, game media would probably write about it) that they may reconsider the thing.
People are coping out of their minds if they think this more drastic shift to cron stones and pearl shop only buffs is good for the game. We get that the company makes money from the game to eat, they don't have to sell shit that directly impacts the gameplay. They can sell emotes, they can sell outfits, they can sell effects and animation changes people will buy them.
Perfectly said. It’s what every company is doing right now, and it makes both players and the company happy since FOMO sells like crazy. Sometimes, the skins aren’t even that great, but just knowing they won’t be in the store forever makes people buy them. Take the Bugatti skin, for example, it was awful, but I have friends who love flexing with it. The problem is that they’re a Korean company, and most of their player base is so used to P2W that they can’t even see the potential in other markets. If they revamped the Pearl Shop for the Western audience and focused exclusively on cosmetics with the right marketing, BDO could actually hit it big. That said, I’d only believe in such a change if another company bought them out, it's PA we’re talking about, after all.
Bro, pvpers ate those ghille suits up when they first came out, I swear every pvper i ever saw was wearing one of them back in the day, so I really dont believe that pvpers were that up in arms about it, they all still bought it just the same
The reason why I bought the otter backpack is because of the durability reduction. I can fish 2-3 days AFK and my rod won’t break. Plus outfit and pet durability reduction
The problem with the backpack is that the fishing rod also exists only in the cash shop. Both of them combined is what truly makes fishing p2w. I've been fishing since Christmas, every day, and I've made a stupid amount of silver because of these items. The durability resistence/reduction/w.e it is is the key thing here. The mastery is nice, don't get me wrong, but you don't buy it for that. The durability reduction is what you need it for. It helps the cron fishing rod go from, for me, 4.92% durability chance to 2.87%, and if my pets we're T4/5 and not T3/4, it would be going from 3.9% to 1.85%. This is chance to use durability. It's such a low chance that my rod is at 1480/2000 since Christmas. It's been a month and I've used 520 durability - and I'm not at max reduction. The problem is that there's no in-game equivalent item that does the same thing, but it hard-ish to make. That's why it's p2w. The Mastery can be earned. Any player serious about lifeskill stuff will tell you that, while nice, as long as it doesn't prevent you from getting to 3k then its not the end-all-be-all. Players will spend the time to get the gear up to max so they don't have to rely on cash shop, but stuff like this and pets make it so you kind of have to. Pets, the rod and the back item are SUPER p2w when it comes to fishing for the durability reduction, not the mastery. At least, in the long run.
Yeah, I’m still at 1500 dura since Christmas as well. That fishing rod will get you more silver than anything PA has ever sold in the pearl shop in all of BDO history.
Yea absolutely. I have 100% bis durability setup, squezed every single thing including all 5 pets. I'm fishing 22h a day, the other 2 I grind, and I'm still at 1707 durability. Definitely the best item I've ever bought.
1.5b per day on average (no big fish). With big fish it could go 4b. Just with balenos rod and 2.4k mastery fishing. Good ass money for doing nothing, but I wouldn't call that "stupid amount" by today's standard.
i never understood why they released an outfit once that changed a skill effect and sound ( the halloween outfit for ults is still the only one afaik) and never did it again. I'm watching this game for 9 years now miss one opportunity after another to make rly good money without making ppl mad. We have truly become the frogs getting boiled. What monumental outrage was the value pack release, then the kama blessing and artisans and on and on, and the outrage got smaller and smaller. And now we are at a point, where you can't rly get mad at anything new p2w, because we are already on a 100% cronstone based system, which is pretty close to just being able to buy items directly of the pearl shop.
Exactly. The game is at its worst when it comes to P2W. At this point, I can only hope Pearl Abyss tanks, and another company buys them out and bring its monetization practices up to date. Cosmetics and FOMO-driven content would be better for both players and the company as a whole. If that’s not a comfortable approach for them, they could just implement a $9.99 subscription fee over that, it would still be better than what we have now. I failed 26 times on my Kharazad and ended up buying 52 scam boxes. Even with the crons I got from those, I still failed every other attempt. It feels like I’m playing in a casino, not a video game. This is not progression, I can't bring myself to grind another 100 hours and this has happened before and I know I'm gonna come back and grind again but for now I just left my character fishing while I do something else, it's too frustrating.
The people who disliked the P2W and new gear progression quit already. Don’t act like players did nothing with the new direction. They lost 15 bil for a reason.
With a free to play game how do you keep servers going if you never add p2w features? Not saying it's good but what if they charge a monthly fee and just put stuff in as a quest?
I should be mad and upset about this P2W problem being more of a problem. I can't be, though. I constantly pushed back against Choice and some other creators that kept saying "BDO isn't P2W; look at all of the improvements they made to move away from it." All while denying that paying for convenience is still "winning" - just because you aren't directly buying power/gear doesn't mean you're not feeding the machine that causes problems. Even if fishing doesn't make as much money as grinding does in 1 hour, you're still creating an incentive for PA to pursue things like the otter carrier instead of making better game content.
if you're new and don't have value pack and you grind 10hrs++ a day yes you can. if you're only grind 1~2hrs a day you'll never running out of scrolls.
9:07 The biggest runescape youtuber (at the time) got completely destroyed after accepting gambling adds and lost relevance. Though when googling him now I see that's the least of his problems.
I wanted to try Deadeye, i quickly got tired of the game and it make me uninstall again in anger as i got tired of having to run to my horse every 5 minutes of grinding, or break out the p2w and grab a bunch of weight. I refuse to continue the cycle of new character, buy stuff to make new character not painful to use in the full game, get bored, look at new released class wanting to repeat. I already have spent more than enough in my time on BDO, they could throw us a damn bone and let us copy weight and invy on Tags. But the greed consumes them, completely.
2 things @Blue 1- Imagine the Combat a PVE (drop rate, xp %, trash loot increae) and a PVP backpack (imagining crystal break protection as its main feature, more karma gain and less karma loss). Gonna be gross. 2- I am F2P no tent, no pearls... nothing. My account is probably worth in silver roughly 200-400bil (700gs 8t4s 2t5 pets, compass, map, pots, all my horses, my goated fairy, and about 40 maids, all the outfits i get for free or from the CM that i dont melt, ffs I started second gearing a true second alt with gear that wasn't worth selling it's at 620ish gs). The caviat being that it's 10k hrs over 7yrs. But yeah fuck p2w. I hate that i feel like I need to buy shit in games like functional fits (why can't I craft these? Even if it's a 1x thing), the tent n shit
ehhh..... rather having pearl items like lil otter fishing carrier than anything else on the pearl shop tbh. lil otter fishing carrier back skin is cheap $10 on SEA and it's permanent and family bound and it's cute ( i just wish the back skin not hidden while in combat ). i basically spent the same amount of money as buying a skin in LoL. i don't understand how $10~$15 permanent family bound cool/cute looking back skin with stats is more p2w than $80 7days buffs or costumes/outfits with stats or everything else on the pearl shop.
Because they will make 10 more variations of it and there's already clothes. Outfit is 20 euros, add to it a backpack - 35. Now you have like 5 major life skills. That's 175 euros for a must have cute set up for all new players interested in life skilling
@rose516 I'd rather spend money on that than cron stones or limited time buffs, $10 each for all the life skill back skins that's not bad. Still cheaper than most the p2w stuff on the pearl shop. I'm basically buying a cheap skin but I got great like skill stats as a bonus. I prefer this game having more cheap cosmetics with or without stats than p2w cron stones loot boxes or limited time buffs.
@PanjolArt the point is most of those time buffs do not even provide that big of an advantage to justify the purchase. It does not give you a huge advantage and doesn't feel necessary. The life skilling outfits and backpacks do feel mandatory as they give huge bonus forever. The reason "oh it doesn't even seem like that much" is just to reel you in. Statistically if they manage to make you do the first purchase the chances of another purchase happening is huge.
@ still prefer stuff like $10 lil otter fishing carrier than stuff that potentially boost your gear score like rng boxes, cron stones, and time buffs that "not even provide that big of an advantage" yet. i'm not even a life skiller but i might still be buying those $10 "mandatory" back skins just for the looks of it, as long as keep them cheap and permanent and family wide. i would be mad at it if the back skin cost the same as the lifeskill costume and it's character bound. but since it's only $10 at least on SEA server everyone should be able to afford it and it's permanent and family bound i'm fine with it. i would rather see them pushing affordable pearl shop item for their monetization than stuff that only streamer or oil prince can afford it and you're in a big disadvantage if you're not buying it.
@@PanjolArt You're calling big disadvantage a 4 bil max if somebody grinds 40h a week? lil otter gives you a huge bonus to standing afk and getting money, that's way more p2w imo since requires no effort to make it work
me and a friend have a bet about when or if they will add a p2w fishing rod that is perm and can be upgraded like the fish tank to have more dura. im saying they will add one but priced at like $150 to $200
PEN kutum (then you can enhance to C14) is much cheaper and easily obtainable, preferably you should have a PEN blackstar if you can find/enhance one, but just wait and PA will give you one, they gave 2 PEN BS it's likely they will give another one.
us free to play players pay to win but we gamble our money in game. so we are significantly superior to those who just p2w endlessly to then grief gearlettes because they have no skill to include with their 50k usd invested and u say arsha is dead. console arsha. Is a stopwatch. .
But the tent is a one-time purchase. It’s P2C since everything you get with it can also be obtained without it. There’s a free-to-play tent alternative that you can repair gear, you can get buffs at a villa, and blessings at a church. Cron stones, however, are a recurring expense. You’re going to need crons constantly, for everything, even if you’re a lifeskiller. Crons are the ultimate P2W aspect of this game. Right behind them are pets and maids, as you’re given a finite quantity of both, and if you want more, you’ll have to pay.
You can pick up your own loot. You can walk down to main city to stow away your items. Cron stone can be purchased through blacksmiths. Its not bound to pearl shop only. You can define most of pearl shop under p2c. When was the last time you had to leave rotation to repair life tools, gears, and get buff? If i need to grind 5 hrs in aakman/underground gyfin without tent. By the time i get back to rotation, theres a high chance its taken. Bdo is silv/hr. Pets maids tent weight, inv slots all contribute to silv/hr. The convenience of these things give you an advantage over someone who doesnt. That is the literal definition of p2w. At the end of the day, i wouldnt trade my account to a person without them. Because i know that account would perform inefficient to mine. Not saying the otter isnt p2w but if im comparing the two, which was compared by blue. Tent, imo, is much more p2w. Call it what you want and that is ok. Bdo has aged enough to care what defines the game now
stop right here.... who gives a fuck about this buff tbh? xd it's nothing. People who buy it will buy it for artisans and crons//..... how dumb one would ahve to be to look at this buff thingy and think like hey that's a game changer! lmao
I can't believe they're ruining this game. Black Desert is the best game of my life... The only thing I can say is: make the most of the time that's left. With the way things are going, I feel like the servers will be shutting down soon :(
Exactly! If nobody buys anything from us it's not feasible to keep something mostly free. We are also releasing a new game which you can be damn sure I will put prices for west. We can't put steep prices in micro transactions in Korea and the Chinese market so we are definitely going to put them in EU and NA
You do know he’s saying that for the game’s survival, right? BDO doesn’t exist in a vacuum. There are other games these days that offer a much better deal for your time. Some F2P games let you fully enjoy the experience without spending a single dollar. BDO’s monetization scheme is outdated, it might have worked in 2015 in Korea, but not here. If you ask anyone whether they’d prefer spending $9.99 a month or just buying cosmetics occasionally over dealing with P2W, most would definitely choose the first option.
Me as a broke boi who doesn’t care for p2w as long as I don’t have to pay subscription to function in the game and free DLC. Let them eat. I’m cooking in my grind chillin
Yoyoyoyoyo let me stop you RIGHT THERE! Id rather spend that 1,500 pearls on a fking backpack (which i dont want) than being able to buy fucking dances and sprays in the game. Wtf are we talking about, who wants that shit garbage? Better add another outfit with that effort or do literally anything else. Dances and similar bullshit content are the last thing anyone wants in this game besides that 10 rp-er who wont even use them after a while bcs they get bored of it.
He was just giving an example, I would love to have more dances like with the badaka event and hip-hop outfit, 1000x better than making the community suffer from buying outfits/scam boxes.
So tell me how is an emote which you will never use, its clunky, its cringe and has no purpose is better than buying an outfit or anything else? Sure scam boxes and p2w stuff is very bad dont get me wrong. Badakka outfit is 10/10 but dances 0/10 what is this fortnite? At least emotes have a purpose there xD Also weapon effect skins/recolors are not a bad idea we all thought of that one a long time ago but they probably wont do those.
@ kinda of agree with you, emotes are good for killing people in arsha sometimes but not interesting for much else. Hopefully they focus more on cosmetics and not on P2W, though knowing PA that won't happened...

I wouln't say efficient, its more accessible again. What you describe is only that, since you didnt compare any value over time.
Blue looking at the otter backpack, when fish tank imo has higher impact for afk fishing
That said, I’d only believe in such a change if another company bought them out, it's PA we’re talking about, after all.
there are many ways of making profit but corpo will always chose the laziest, least effort way for themselves and most shittiest way for the customers
Tell me more about this , just started playing about two weeks ago.. Im purely f2p but is it possible to make this amount as a f2p??
@ You can make a lot of money from fishing as a f2p, yes, but not the same amount of money as grandpa cron users.
i never understood why they released an outfit once that changed a skill effect and sound ( the halloween outfit for ults is still the only one afaik) and never did it again.
I have 500-600 days of the 3 buffs. The kama, secret book and value pack. I’m chilling on those for a min
yea i was feeling this a year ago, event with Fairy, there are so many things we need to POP before going in a battle or afk lifeskill. WTF
Good take. Ive been loggin in only for the daily rewards. I havent logged in to grind since like July.
i think they trying to kill their game slowly but surely!!!
Respect , 8:45 this is what make u awesome
Hey man great video 1 question please can you place a screenshot for the dye on the deadeye outfit
I'm the most prone when I just got my paycheck.
With a free to play game how do you keep servers going if you never add p2w features? Not saying it's good but what if they charge a monthly fee and just put stuff in as a quest?
Because those same people that cry about a pearl item being $15 will also cry about a monthly membership
Imagine if 7 days means you have 168 hours of buff you could spend an hour at a time.
When they start make Pearl items inc drop >Amount > is when its over for me
lol I got 1600 blue item increase scrolls with 600 yellow grade ones. Do people actually run out of those things??
if you're new and don't have value pack and you grind 10hrs++ a day yes you can.
if you're only grind 1~2hrs a day you'll never running out of scrolls.
Most games that get influenced by marketing teams or investors die i hope that BDO will last but it keeps going into the wrong direction.
Kashira is the GOAT
not me watching this while buffing with life exp tent 😅
haven't logged in since they nuked node war but still watching blue
Yeah I use my maids to put my trash loot in storage I haven’t used my horse in forever. I got like 45 of both maids
I will use the f2p tent and during guild bosses they call it homeless shelter.
9:07 The biggest runescape youtuber (at the time) got completely destroyed after accepting gambling adds and lost relevance. Though when googling him now I see that's the least of his problems.
If they bring out a back pack for grinding pve im gonna get it
I wanted to try Deadeye, i quickly got tired of the game and it make me uninstall again in anger as i got tired of having to run to my horse every 5 minutes of grinding, or break out the p2w and grab a bunch of weight.
26:00 I honestly forgot that my 200% was changed. I legitimately forgot about it because it doesn't matter in the slightest
BDO is so easy nowadays in 2025 that this is negligible (until theres some game breaking p2w thing like when the tents came out)
Just make crons drop from grinding. Anyone who disagrees with this can come back to this comment when theres only 100 people online with 800gs.
Crons drop from monsters its called silver to buy from vendor.
@@harhatoxic8271 Reading comprehension is tough bro I get it.
Crons do drop its called silver which you can spend at the blacksmith. 3mil per cron......
@ Just say you can't read my guy.
You can go farm 10,001 ecology(H) and get perma 30% drop rate on all characters 24/7. I just saved you all $90 per week in drop rate buffs
i only buy 100 artisan for 1000 pearls - normaly its more like 100 artisans for 1500 pearls ... always discounted
2 things @Blue
1- Imagine the Combat a PVE (drop rate, xp %, trash loot increae) and a PVP backpack (imagining crystal break protection as its main feature, more karma gain and less karma loss).
@@PanjolArt You're calling big disadvantage a 4 bil max if somebody grinds 40h a week?
lil otter gives you a huge bonus to standing afk and getting money, that's way more p2w imo since requires no effort to make it work
I would absolutely love skill color changes. I'm so tired of Yellow.
me and a friend have a bet about when or if they will add a p2w fishing rod that is perm and can be upgraded like the fish tank to have more dura. im saying they will add one but priced at like $150 to $200
my other favorite youtuber is bald and bankrupt.
his funny, but i watch for the baldness
The true pay 2 win is hidden. Few players have caught on to it. You can buy energy pots. Thats the ultimate p2w as a life skilled.
200%? we have a 200%?
PEN kutum dagger or Tet Blackstart dagger ???
reposted, my comments is getting deleteted for some reason
according to garmoth website
Tet Blackstar is better than c0~c10 pen kutum.
PEN kutum (then you can enhance to C14) is much cheaper and easily obtainable, preferably you should have a PEN blackstar if you can find/enhance one, but just wait and PA will give you one, they gave 2 PEN BS it's likely they will give another one.
The game has always been p2w so why are people surprised?
if they want to fix that stock, they should revert that stupid ass dec changes
I hit max drop rate without even trying
is it really pronounced "exspecially" ?
I am too poor to p2w anyway. Not that I would pay that if I had!
Bought the backpack because it's cute not the stat.
the back pack is way worse. And I want one?
If you going do p2w Never buy packs that are only 30 days typical packs only permanent. Or just don't play mmos like this that has rental mechanics
us free to play players pay to win but we gamble our money in game. so we are significantly superior to those who just p2w endlessly to then grief gearlettes because they have no skill to include with their 50k usd invested
and u say arsha is dead. console arsha. Is a stopwatch. .
A lot of people can't sit in their bedrooms playing a game for 16 hours a day. Some people have a life and a job, crazy right?
tent imo is much more p2w. tent has utility. repair buff etc
Bdo has aged enough to care what defines the game now
90$ fot 1.6b no thanks lol
stop right here.... who gives a fuck about this buff tbh? xd it's nothing.
With the way things are going, I feel like the servers will be shutting down soon :(
Go play that dumbest t n l game
Come on, my man. I love BDO too, but what Blue is saying is true. We shouldn’t dismiss good criticism when it’s given.
Its ok to be a BROKE BOY. Just Say it. You think this is worst. T N L is PURE P2W than BDO. Developers need to Eat.
I’m cooking in my grind chillin
developers need to eat is right
both korean games are dead in Kr and can't survive without oversea profits which is pretty sad tbh
No one is making you guys spend money on anything. It's optional
@ kinda of agree with you, emotes are good for killing people in arsha sometimes but not interesting for much else. Hopefully they focus more on cosmetics and not on P2W, though knowing PA that won't happened...
FURST
hes bald
