While a downgrade from Juicy, I'm at least thankful Vi gets an oompa loompa song in this version (unlike Broadway) and I'm happy they at least have lyrics from Juicy
I like how right after the song ends some kid in the audience yells "GREAT SCOTT, SHE EXPLODED", someone better teach that kid how to behave in a theater
I don’t mind this version but I do think I prefer Juicy. I think they should have kept the original effect for violet blowing up too with hiding a fan in her backpack and pumping up the suit to make her swell. I can understand changing the music as it’s a personal choice on which song you like best, but I do believe the previous effects were better than her ripping her skirt off and popping out a cage under her shirt. On another note, I oddly really like the steampunk robot Oompa Loompas. Edit: the more I listen to this song the more I love it. 💜
I love the instrumental here, but I prefer Juicy due to the darker but funnier lyrics. Plus the egotistical celebrity Violet transforming into a disco ball feels more karmic than a basketball.
I can imagine Violet getting crushed by that machine that throws the bottles away once they've been hitten, and that being the reason of her "bubble burst"
OK fine she gets pushed down a metal slide into a dustbin on wheels and jumps out covered in rubbish and ath the end of the song she gets wheeled Off stage with her dad😊
When I saw this live her head came off when wonka and the oompa where swinging her about 🤣 her mom said her head came off when she came out the door at the end 🤣🤣🤣
"Juicy!" lyrics described how the Oompa Loompas were going to sell Violet's organs as souvenirs once she exploded, that was disgusting. That's the reason they changed it. I'll miss Blue Berry Violet Disco Ball, but I like the basketball set.
@@cameronsteele6837 there's a reason why they can't show her getting torn apart here, but that's no excuse to make it lame. They could have just used the furnace idea again
@@2010MzHoodI'd say Veruca's Broadway song was darker, however Augustus's demise is the darkest one he's got so far. During the song, the Oompa Loompas wheel him (puppet) in part of a pipe out on stage
I know the Augustus's demise (the part of auf wheidreshen augustus gloop) everyone can see he turning into a wonka bar. This is what I know but I didn't saw th Uk's musical
On the UK Tour version, Augustus is frozen on the chocolate around the pipe like instant cryogenics and the Oompas take him covered on chocolate out the pipe with a glass cryogenics recipient and take the recipient with Augustus offscreen to probably try to unfroze and save him (although i have a friend that spent his travels through the UK watching the Tour, and when he came back to Brazil to tell me about the musical, there's a little silly comment about Wonka mentioning offscreen that they need to wait a CENTURY-LASTING global warming wave to have him being unfreezed and revived) . It's not even close to be as dark as Veruca's demise, but it's the darkest demise Augustus got so far, as someone already mentioned.
We need footage of Augustus death. I haven't seen the UK tour because I'm in far Rockaway but If you don't have it then You can tell me a description of what happened when Augustus was turned into

And I used to think the Broadway version of this musical was bad, this looks terrible for what I could see (I have no chance of seeing the show live), outside of the aesthetic elements I think there are too many projections, if theatrical shows want to use them they have to use them right and this doesn't really do that in my opinion, also what the heck are the Oompa Loompas now, robots?? Why are they human height?? And you're also telling me now they changed the Oompa Loompa songs? This to me doesn't look like a faithful uk "revival" if we can call it that
I think what happens is that they don’t have much budget and that’s why they use almost only projections also it’s a tour they have to move the set pieces to theater to theater And the robot Oompa Loompas maybe they change for being less racist? Or IDK And i think they change Juicy for two reasons The first one are the lyrics “her inside flying overhead would be a distraction” that’s really creepy And the second that wanted something new something of their own because all the other songs were already in the musical and they wanted something original
The robo ommpas are A-too not ne racist B- Makes sense as Wonka was desperate for money so he invented a work force that wouldn't leave the factory or spill secrets as he programmed them. Well if you think of the way that Mr winks is an inventer who created his oompas so he won’t have to hire anyone and risk his recipes being stolen. Which is why they are robots, they aren’t set to saving anyone from falling into chocolate rivers and what not. Think like that.
