Can we appreciate that Nintendo made a LGBTQ+ character before it was "a trend" with a lot of companies and they weren't just LGBTQ+ for a month. Also the character I spoke about was Isabelle she is Bisexual confirmed by Nintendo her first appearance was 'Animal Crossing: New Leaf' and after a while she gained a crush on the mayor player no matter if they chose if they were male or female at the beginning. This, this is why I really like Nintendo.
Plus the random trans trainer in Pokémon x/y (she talks about having been a "karate king" half a year ago, followed by "isn't medical science amazing!")
One of my trans friends did use the name her mom picked because her mom was so sure she was going to have a girl when she was pregnant that she had the name picked out. Turns out she was right, but it took nearly 30 years to realize it.
My mom lived in New Mexico when she was pregnant with me, in a checkerboard native reservation. The entire time she lived there, there was an old Navajo woman who absolutely swore she was going to have a daughter with beautiful blue eyes. That woman turned out to be right, it just took 16 years to realize it.
I've had a similar experiences to the cousin story. My moms a teacher and I randomly ran into one of the only students of hers I actually know, she kinda recognized me and after finding out who my mom is exclaimed "oh! Yes, I think I know you little sister!" 😐 "yah your probably thinking of me as I don't have a little sister" I said. The look on her face was priceless I tell you! The pure confusion!
"Never name your pet something you'd feel really awkward screaming at a park if it ever runs away." . . . Look- my dog was named Corona back in 2014, aight? At least with living on a farm we don't have much of a need to go out on walks to the park, LMAO
Plus the fact that Muk and Grimer are just piles of toxic sludge, Geodude is a rock with arms, Voltorb and Electrode are Pokeballs, and Digglets and Magnamites just combine with others to evolve.
The last post really does encapsulate what it’s like to be trans. I’m a trans woman who is also left-handed, and I understood EXACTLY what the artist meant. Also have a genderfluid friend who’s also ambidextrous, and they also get it. Kinda upset I didn’t come up with it to be honest, lol
Mine too! The bathrooms are sorted by class, so theres bathroom A (for classrooms that end with A example: 5A 6A) Bathroom B, Bathroom C, and Bathroom D
... To be honest, I don't think that trans people should be treated based on an outdated book written long long ago that says slavery is ok and stoning children to death is ok. Everyone should be accepted regardless of what some God says ❤
@@jasminevilliers9578 lol that is untrue, I would never say horrible things to anyone, especially since I'm a bisexual christian. It's true that god is friends with many lgbt people, its not a "excuse".

FUN FACT: Samus Aran is trans. Hirofumi Matsuoka, who helped work on the original design for Samus Aran, called her a "ニューハーフ" or "newhalf", which is early Japanese 90s slang for "trans woman". The term also implies that she did not have bottom surgery. In Metroid Zero Mission, Metroid Other M, and official manga, younger Samus is depicted as a little girl, which would mean that her transition must have come early in her life so her height has nothing to do with her being trans. Also, just look at how Samus reacted to being called a lady in Metroid Other M!
Actually, one of my dogs is called "Little Sh*t" except it's in French (merdouille) which isn't a commonly spoken language where I live. And shouting it outside Feels *GREAT*
Fun fact: In Turkish, there are no he/him, she/her, it/its, they/their pronouns. There is only one pronoun that works for anyone and anything, o/ onun.
Fun fact, in the Philippines, there are no pronouns either, it makes it easier to sing love songs to any gender, Tagalog ones tho. I don't know any Filipino made English songs about gay love
In China(or rather, the Chinese language) even though we have different ways to write our genders (他for boy or just any gender(this is what wiki said lol), 她for girl) it is all pronounced in the same way(tā) It is so cool, love songs can be sang to any gender without it feeling weird, people who have changed their gender doesn't particularly have to tell a person they don't wanna tell to their pronouns (like teachers, or strangers, or homophobic parents). Sure, it'll still feel kinda off, since you know they think your pronouns are this rather than that, but still, it's better than English **rolls eyes** It has its little flaws tho, like when you are writing to a girl and autocorrect thinks she's a boy (because our keyboard uses 拼音,which is the pronunciation of the word). But honestly this is little to nothing compared to what you can get and also you can fix it by just using the writing pad in your phones So all in all, very glad to have this language in my life lmao

As a left hander who grew up in the deep south in the 80's, I relate to that last part hard. I was called "Demon Child" and "Wrong" and "Evil" by my family and teachers, bullied relentlessly throughout school because I 'refused to conform to the way normal people did things'. I still have a tiny panic attack when I need to write something down in public because of that.
My brother is left-handed, and I was born ambidextrous. I was "corrected" (read: physically & verbally abused) into only using my right hand for everything. Now I can no longer write or draw with my left.
So my dad was left-handed as a child, and he had his hands beaten unto submission until he learned to use his right hand. Because of conditioning, he wrote primarily with his right hand, but he was actually ambidextrous. My point being: the fact that he was beaten into becoming right-handed did not erase his true nature as a left-handed person... Which just made me realize that my dad, although being an African man with very conservative upbringing, would probably be OK with my being bisexual if he was alive to see me right now... Wow
I had a ferret named Marco that ran away and I was crying yelling "MARCO" and I bet it looked like the weirdest game of Marco pollo ever (we found him)
My friends and i were talking about virginity and they said "Sorry you dont have to lose it as soon as possible and you can wait till youre ready" and i just went "Im an ACE at keeping it" forming an A with my hands!!. Lmao
I was a math tutor in college. One woman sat with me to go over her homework. She was self-conscious of her age and told me she feared school. She was beaten for using her left hand as a kid. As a left-handed person myself, I told her times have changed. You don't have to be scared. She said,"I know, but I still am." Her boss was paying for her education. She grew more confident each time I saw her. She would hunt me down so we could celebrate her victories together. She deserves the world.
I am a 56yo, gay, left-handed man who came out some 30 years ago and your last post from Trans Diaries has done more for my understanding of what trans people go through on a daily basis than any other article, chat, book or face to face conversation I've ever had! I've always obviously been a trans ally. But I've just never been given this perspective. Although my bullying as a lefthander could never compare to that of a trans person in a hostile environment, the comparison expands my empathy a hundred fold. Talk about walking in another soul's shoes? Thank you so much for sharing this OT. Just one more reason I love your channel!
I was born left-handed. I am now for the most part ambidextrous, except that I can't use either hand all that well. I grew up in a school that had a lot of teachers who thought left-handedness was "of the devil" and would punish any kids caught using their left hand as their dominant hand. They screwed me over. If I could remember their names, I would be tempted to hunt them down and hit them with a yardstick until the cops show up.
@@NotSoCrazyNinja I was lucky to have a left-handed mom and a secular education. Kids would tease me a lot. But nothing horrible and no corporal punishment. I did have a friend's dad tell me once that Lucifer was left-handed. But I didn't take it to heart and my mom told him to "Go to hell!" on my behalf! She was always in my corner. Hell, when I came out she was so determined to read and learn all she could that she'd read milk cartons because they said "homo" on the side!
@@josephstout1461 Times have changed a lot in my area since I was a kid. When I was a kid, no kids were openly gay. It just didn't happen because if they were, the bullies would beat the crap out of them every day and make their lives a living hell. The teachers, of course, would look the other way. This was a public school. Now days, there are very few people who will harass you for being openly gay. Some people may mutter to themselves about this or that, but they tend to not bother the openly gay person. The few who do tend to get harassed by witnesses for being homophobic lol. I don't really know what I am when it comes to sexuality and gender. I have only recently begun shedding the years of programming in an effort to heal. I know you have probably encountered quite a bit of abuse over your lifetime as well. The world isn't great, but it is better than it was even twenty years ago.
@@NotSoCrazyNinja I have to say, I have been incredibly lucky. I came out at 18, on October 12th, 1982. Before it was even National Coming out day. I have experienced very little direct harassment. I am only 5'1" and learned early on to make friends with the biggest person in the room first. So most bullies would think twice. Most of my adult life has been spent in and around the gay community. Fairly insular if you think about it. I wasn't exactly in a bubble because I worked in the straight world, a restaurant. But most of my free time and most of my income was spent in and on the gay community. I guess that was maybe a subconscious way of protecting myself. Things were different back in the '80s and '90s. Now you see gay flags hanging on houses out in the county. 30 years ago no one, including myself, would have had the balls to do that!

hi! i just wanted to say 1. thank you for putting the memes in little boxes to the side of the screen so we can screenshot them- half my camera roll is just screenshots of the memes you react to lol. and 2. ik you tend to downplay the affect you have on others bc you say you're just showin memes and laughing, but as someone who is slowly crawling out of an extremely persistent depressive state- your little giggles and spouts of inspiration and overall positivity have done so much for my mental health. don't think you're just laughing and being goofy because you're also spreading hope and faith that there are good people out there. my entire life i've been surrounded by people who don't believe in me or see my worth and it shouldn't be like that, ofc, but that's how it is rn and how it always has been and its been extremely isolating. its difficult to believe there are better people and a better life out there when you've only ever experienced the sh1tty ones. having the experience of getting to know you piece by piece in your videos, even if its just through a screen, has broadened my perspective and that little box i've been trapped in my whole life. and no you're not the only youtuber or influencer out there who's smiley or positive, but you have had an extremely substantial role in picking me up and out of a really dark place. so thank you so so much for that and for putting so much of yourself into trying to help others. know that it's working and we are so grateful for you. you are loved and greatly appreciated

We're all here for you. 🤗 Surround yourself as much as you can with people who love and support you for who you are and what you want from life, and kick the rest to the curb where they belong ASAP.
IDK what your life situation is precisely, but I'm here to say two things 1) mental illness is illness, if you spot any signs of suicide, treat them the same way a (competent) doctor would suggest treating signs of a heart attack or stroke, because a Crisis is just as much an uncontrollable medical emergency as those are (just saying this because I wish somebody had told me that when I was going through shit, it woulda saved me a whole lotta trouble. Don't think you're gonna kill yourself or anything, just trying to play it safe here). 2) Your life can change for the better in an instant. So don't give up hope, because if I (a neurodivergent asshole recovering from a years-long guilt complex that left me believing I was undeserving of love or friendship, very long and complex story, would be a documentary if anyone knew about it) can sort my shit out, make new friends, find new things to live for, and ultimately come out on top, SO CAN YOU!

As a Heathen (capitalized for reasons), I was excited when I saw that the editor put Thrymskvitha as a reference to OT's "gods have been trans" statement. It's one of the old Norse poems and one of my personal favourites. To simplify it, Thor finds out that Mjollnir has been stolen by Jotnar and decides to get it back. He discusses it with some of the gods and one of them then comes up with the idea that Thor should dress as a woman and present himself as the bride to be for the king of the Jotnar and Loki decides to come along to act as a bridesmaid (and let's face it, he lives for these shenanigans). Thor impresses the king with his lust for food, ale, and combat by eating and drinking more than the rest of the king's court and fighting off every single one of the giants on his own and requests his mighty hammer as the dowry for their marriage. There are variations of this story, mostly because things can easily get muddled when they're not properly recorded for centuries and there's always a bit of uncertainty in the translations we have, but the basic premise is mostly the same between them.
questioning my gender identity once again rn, all those "am i a boy?" questions are getting into me and causing me such a hard time. "would i feel more comfortable presenting myself as a boy? but i don't want to be what society thinks a boy is, BUT-" i feel hopeless and i have nobody to talk to about this. my head hurts lol
you could be demi-boy, gender-nonconforming transman or another non-binary identity! i hope you find what makes you happy regardless,, try thinking about what you could see yourself as when you've grown old (I'm non-binary and could not imagine myself as an elderly woman but don't fully identify with what i'd perceive an elderly male version of myself to be, so I'm a masc-leaning nonbinary who uses they/them pronouns, I hope this helps at all!)
There's more than one to think of what a man ought to be, and often even cisgendered men are burdened by societies expectation for what a man should be. You might be more comfortable presenting masculine, but that doesn't mean you have to buy into toxic views of masculinity. I find that a good way to explore questions like this is through stories. They're able to tackle philosophical questions as characters acting rather than as abstract theory. If you're a fan of Avatar the Last Airbender, there's a video by hello future me that reframes Iroh's character and personal story as one about fatherhood and him being a positive male role model for zuko contrasted by Ozai's toxic masculinity. You can also view your favorite characters who are women or who aren't gendered and see what aspects of them draw them to you and what parts of them you either see in yourself or look up to. Maybe you want to present more masculine and adopt masculine social traits, but there are parts of those characters you don't want to leave behind. Being able to recognize what parts of masculinity and what parts of femininity you like can help you decide who you ultimately want to be. I recently decided I want to transition and so even though I'm explore parts of femininity I like and want to be a part of there are still parts of masculinity that I've chosen to still strive for.
You can ask some friends to start referring to you with masculine terms and pronouns and see if it fits you. And you don’t have to be society’s definition of a gender to be that gender.
When it comes to LGBT stuff, I feel like a weird guy in the corner of a wrestling match, not understand what's going on but giving thumbs up nonetheless
In thinking about it, immortality seems way more like a curse than anything else. Watching everyone you care about leave you. Seeing the world slowly die for the sake of profit. Experiencing everything you've ever known change to the point that it's beyond recognition. It would be so isolating to know that no one else could really understand how you feel.
If you can call your friend that recently got married and changed their last name by their new last name then you can call someone by their new chosen name aswell KAREN
3:51 when I was a kid I always wanted to be a king, I always was told "why not a princess?" But my dad was like "HECK YEAH! I decided that if I ever want to be trans, that I'd 100% come out to my dad first.
I am trans and a few of the most hurtful things I heard from my mom were “You don’t act Trans” (I have been questioning my gender since 4-6), “You are to young” (She said when was 11), and “You are just saying this because your friend did” (I am not, He helped me decide what felt right, each day, he gave me some, and He/Him just felt like it was who i’m supposed to be, I try my hardest to look and seem/act as a boy, so my family going ‘Yeah, SHE blah blah blah’ Hurts me. My dad thinks it’s a mental illness, so I have that going for me in life. (Edit) My friends accept me, so at least that’s good! I still love myself despite what they say! (I’m a trans F2M)

She's the first trans person I've known, and the first to change pronouns as well as name. I wasn't really sure what to make of it all, it was a bit confusing at first, so I kinda skirted the sidelines and offered up a few kind words while I watched the whole process. It was pretty cool. She got reassigned, and is really happy now being a woman. She's pretty cool. :)
Lol, if gaming has taught me anything, it's that the default settings never work as well as custom. Will be using the phrase "default settings" from now on 🤣
hey, OT, you don't have to apologize for feeling down. you bring so much joy to us all the time when we're feeling down. all the wonderful supportive things people write in the comments are for you too. I hope things get better.
In Genesis 11:6, God said about humanity: "Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do." In other words, the reason why God confused the people's languages in the Tower of Babel was not because they were sinful. It was because their teamwork was so good that it made them LITERALLY OMNIPOTENT when working together as a group! So, yeah. Trans people, you can really replace God. All you need is a common language that connects you all!
I find it hilarious that this is a thing too...Like, this is HARD evidence the bible was written by humans with no understanding of the real world. It doesn't matter if people speak the same language or not. We would NEVER team up like this. Humanity seeks out fights, war, and control. We, as a species would have to be without those urges, or we'd never have that kind of power. But...individual groups, like trans and non-binary people, COULD all team up and become greater than god. True, there would be outliers like Blaire White, but those are EXTREME exceptions to the rule. Generally, most of us have our heads on straight, and we can make it happen. Hmm....Maybe that's what far-right Christians are so scared of...They KNOW we can defeat their god. LOL
Jesus was a jew, and I remember reading that there are 6 genders that they had at that time iirc.(I could be very wrong, it was the internet, but I see no reason why someone would make up that lie) I believe they were male, female, ftm, mtf, nonbinary, and something I cant remember. They definitely didn't use those exact words, but those are the words we have for them now.

Woah, it's really nice seeing a comic about dysphoria that DOESN'T assume that all trans people suffer from it! Makes me feel a lot less alienated (as a nonbinary person who used to be dysphoric when I thought I was binary, and no longer feel dysphoric after 3 years on HRT and becoming more comfortable with my gender not being binary). Too many people, even other trans people, try SO HARD to exclude us non-dysphoric trans people and dismiss our experiences as "faking" or "following a trend" or "taking up resources for 'REAL' trans people," so it feels really good to see a comic tackling the subject of dysphoria while making it clear that the experience isn't universal among ALL trans people. Thank you so much for including it, and by extension, us!
Downsides of being tall: People constantly saying "Wow, you're _really_ tall!" and then you're just like "um... okay..." and then the conversation just crashes because you have no idea what else to say. Not that I'm speaking from experience, of course.

Speaking of changing names, while I’m not trans, I am a lesbian who is somewhat gender fluid, my names about to be official!!! If someone didn’t hack the Alaskan court system website it’d be done already. But it should be a week or so!!!!
These video's actually have helped me a lot! For a long time I've been on the fence, maybe thinking I was gender fluid between feminine and non-binary (I was born a male), but after watching some of these videos and realizing I relate to so much of this stuff led me to do a bunch of research about myself and what it means to be trans. It's been very enlightening and an absolutely wonderful experience so far, very similar to discovering my asexuality, and has helped a lot considering how transphobic my dad is. I just love how sweet and wholesome all of these videos have been, and I hope to see more. Thank you, OT, for doing what you do.
I hope you’re doing well out there. I know a lot is going on, especially right now, and I really hope you are safe and happy, but just remember: no matter what it is, you have the strength to get through it. I believe in you.

In Metroid Zero Mission, Metroid Other M, and official manga, younger Samus is depicted as a little girl, which would mean that her transition must have come early in her life so her height has nothing to do with her being trans. Same in georgian. Just ის
Same in armenian. Just na and nranq for plural
In China(or rather, the Chinese language) even though we have different ways to write our genders (他for boy or just any gender(this is what wiki said lol), 她for girl) it is all pronounced in the same way(tā)
It is so cool, love songs can be sang to any gender without it feeling weird, people who have changed their gender doesn't particularly have to tell a person they don't wanna tell to their pronouns (like teachers, or strangers, or homophobic parents). Sure, it'll still feel kinda off, since you know they think your pronouns are this rather than that, but still, it's better than English **rolls eyes**
It has its little flaws tho, like when you are writing to a girl and autocorrect thinks she's a boy (because our keyboard uses 拼音,which is the pronunciation of the word).
Now I can no longer write or draw with my left.
wow thats disgusting treatment
So my dad was left-handed as a child, and he had his hands beaten unto submission until he learned to use his right hand. Because of conditioning, he wrote primarily with his right hand, but he was actually ambidextrous. My point being: the fact that he was beaten into becoming right-handed did not erase his true nature as a left-handed person...

We're all here for you. 🤗 Surround yourself as much as you can with people who love and support you for who you are and what you want from life, and kick the rest to the curb where they belong ASAP.
IDK what your life situation is precisely, but I'm here to say two things
1) mental illness is illness, if you spot any signs of suicide, treat them the same way a (competent) doctor would suggest treating signs of a heart attack or stroke, because a Crisis is just as much an uncontrollable medical emergency as those are (just saying this because I wish somebody had told me that when I was going through shit, it woulda saved me a whole lotta trouble.

This makes me want to print out the last post, make little books, and give them out to anyone that's being mean.

questioning my gender identity once again rn, all those "am i a boy?" questions are getting into me and causing me such a hard time. "would i feel more comfortable presenting myself as a boy? but i don't want to be what society thinks a boy is, BUT-" i feel hopeless and i have nobody to talk to about this. my head hurts lol
It seems you might be non-binary but its hard to tell from this comment alone
you could be demi-boy, gender-nonconforming transman or another non-binary identity! i hope you find what makes you happy regardless,, try thinking about what you could see yourself as when you've grown old (I'm non-binary and could not imagine myself as an elderly woman but don't fully identify with what i'd perceive an elderly male version of myself to be, so I'm a masc-leaning nonbinary who uses they/them pronouns, I hope this helps at all!)
Dude! Same!

3:51 when I was a kid I always wanted to be a king, I always was told "why not a princess?" But my dad was like "HECK YEAH! BE A KING!" and I just kept that in my heart for so long and never realise how just some words can make someone's life just so damn memorable and amazing..

@@V1nesAndStuffz I'm doing my best to be who I am in the closet. I just really wanna transition and I wish I could just tell them so I don't have to hear my dead name everyday
I have an online friend who transitioned, and I knew her when she was still in her "default settings" and had the dead name. :)
using default settings as a way to describe someone pre-transiton is the best thing I've ever heard

Downsides of being tall:
People constantly saying "Wow, you're _really_ tall!" and then you're just like "um... okay..." and then the conversation just crashes because you have no idea what else to say.
Not that I'm speaking from experience, of course.
